If the fish is bigger it's male

If the fish is smaller its female

Just make sure it's an adult because if it's not then you might get wrong.

But for some fish females are larger and males aren't.i learned this from some fish video check it out!

i love your oscars! my oscar died cause my sister wanted him to have bubbles soshe poured windex in his tank.. all the other fish died and he was in a bucket with jus a little water and i came out side to throw the bucket out and he was just floppin away so i put him back in a clean different tank and i named him lazerus cause he came back from the dead lol ( he died two days later :/ )

Oscars are amazing fish, incredibly intelligent. Just make sure you get a HUGE tank for them, as they grow fast and need the room.

@GOLDROCK420 Technically it's a minimum of like 75+ gallons for 2 oscars, but they're your fish, and you can do whatever you want it them. Just make sure you really keep up with the water changes and have a good filtration system because oscars produce a large amount of waste

No, it's a male and a female. I've seen these two lay eggs many times and it always results in hundreds of mini-oscars :)

Thats har I can tell you.. whith Cichlids you normaly se the genatals but not with Oscars.. they have them inside, so you can just se it wen they breed.

@tommy820118 that may be true.. others have said the fins have slightly different shape and coloring patterns to them, also the top of their head is different, males have bigger, more round foreheads, females are longer and more slender looking. but again its hard to tell with these guys, as their genitalia is hidden inside

You can tell it by seeing The Head. Female has oval head, while the male head is more square just as if it has a horn..

After it finished laying & fertilizing it eggs, you should quickly take it out and move it to another tank, because most likely they will eat their own egg

beautiful oscars! can you please answer my question. our local pet shop is selling these 2-3inch red tiger oscar juvies but they clearly have no "red" color in them. they just have this white pattern instead of the red pattern in yours. the guy in the pet shop just said that as they grow up they will get redder depending on what you feed them. is this true or is he just trying to get a quick sale?

@anzenxxii Your local pet shop has right.. it depends alot what you give them to eat! I give my breeding pear A LOT of D-50 flings.. thye comes up to surface to eat and opend their mouth then i drop D-50 in to ther mout!
