Yes, but texts are better. If you upload a videofile converted to FLV, YouTube does not compress the file so much, and that makes video sharper.

You know what else is a neat trick? Convert it to .flv and put the audio in stereo (if the original video was stereo) so when you upload it, it wont switch to mono. YouTube converts the video to a low resolution and with mono sound, but if you convert it yourself, the video stays in stereo on YouTube. Helpful for those videos that require 2 channels of audio.
