  • i'm going to play this .. actually i'm learning this.. it's my best piano composition ever !

  • Joué tellement parfaitement ! Il vit vraiment la musique comme il se doit ♥

  • I like it... it sounds so calm :)

  • That time of year thou may'st in m behold

When yellow leaves, or none, or few

Do hang upon the boughs which shake against the cold -

Bare ruin'd choirs where late the sweet birds sang.

  • @baruch60610 ... lame.

  • @Ladmoisel Pearls before swine...

  • One of my favorite pieces in the "Seasons" collection. He plays it beautifully.

  • Look at his hands, they're dancing... Beautiful.

  • im just starting this song for a tchaikovsky competition. It sounds very sad but most tchaikovsky songs are sad

  • @314violin he was a very troubled man.

  • i love this piece so much. i'm trying to learn this song but you play it way better

  • this was played so beautifully, so much emotion. soon learning this piece for my associate. hope i can play it like this to.

  • it brings tears into my eyes...so sad and so sensuous! Love every note...

  • I am learning this piece now. I am sure you have a lot for me to learn from.

  • beautiful playing, very talented

  • so beautiful. This is the last piece I learned to play before I quit playing piano. I still sometimes play it. It takes me to another world.

  • I think that the amount and quality of feeling you're putting on this piece is what really sets your performance apart from the other ones mentioned by others here. Bravo!

  • wow it sounds so beautiful =D

  • Absolutely romantic in quality.

  • !SilentPainTears yes he is living in israel, like me. And we are the best. the jew are the best

  • His fingers are the leaves, falling down onto the keys as if leaves to the damp ground.

  • i have the music sheet of all "the seasons" . mail me at andrewboyp@yahoo.com and i will send it to you gladly.

  • I don't know why, but when I first heard this piece, I could have sworn it was by Chopin. It sounds so much like his style.

  • @rosten736

thats because they lived in the same time frame known as the romantic era.

the style of writing was similiar.

  • @anastasiayoung Yes it's true they were in the era, however many composers at the time were using themes based on their own nationalistic folk songs. Chopin's mazurkas and polonaises are good examples. Tchaikovsky, although not a member of the very nationalistic group of Russian composers known as the Mighty Handful, was influenced by Balakirev, the leader of the group, to use Russian themes and reject the influence of past and current German and European composers.

  • was able to watch him perform 2 days ago here in the philippines. no words to describe his playing.

  • how do you control the soft so well in the bass part so well?? mine always sound too loud :/

  • @Thunda1234 I suppose you have to practise just the left part until it sounds right and then add the rest in. I guess it is understandable that you might find it hard to play the bass part right, since it is supposed to be firm rather than bold, yet it is often misinterpreted as being loud when it should be subtle. Next time try stroking the keys of the bass part. :)

  • nice!

  • very sensual..

  • Sigh... How do I make mine sound like that? Mine sounds so hollow and empty :(

  • @leafypirate listen to your heart. if you do not hear it the way you want to, get a better technical understanding of the piece through its the form, phrasing, and tchaikovsky's articulation markings. if you still do not hear it, you may not possess enough technical dexterity for the expression that you desire, so keep practicing. if after those things, you still don't hear it, you're on your way to taking yourself to the next level of pianism. stay hungry for perfection.

  • awesome!!!

  • its very good. but doesn't anyone agree the middle part is too fast? (For people who have learned this song)

  • juste SUBLIME!!!!! BRAVO! what a maturity, what a sound! what a conception!!

AMAZING! you're not a pianist! YOU ARE A MUSIC!

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! so beautiful........

  • Stunning :-O

  • absolutely beautifully played. Exactly how I would imagined it should sound! *sigh*

  • Excellent interpretation & emotion!!! The best version I've heard so far!

  • Amazing! I've been learning this piece for several months, and my performance is largely compromised by my limited virtuosity and lack of practice, but this is EXACTLY the sort of sound and atmosphere I have been imagining in my head. Although I was slightly put off at the beginning by the way he kept looking away from the piano, his control and touch are astonishing, brilliant stuff. I was holding my breath at some parts.

  • Very nice! Congratulations!

  • magnifique!

  • I'm listening to this song right now, because I'm learning how to play it myself. I have four months time, before I should be performing it. I'm kinda nervous.

  • great performance! very nice!

  • what is boring for you ? " Beautifull " ?

  • when i wrote this i didnt understand music that much now i know that its really nice done with very nice tune ... .

  • Great job Victor! come back and play for us at Peabody sometime! We need more men in our studio!!!

  • He is good and he could have put this video as his own, not as a response to a completely different song.

  • sorry to say this, but was it just me,or was there a wrong note at the very end of the song,but...HE IS A GENIUS!!!!!!!!!I totally,TOTALLY LOVE his beautiful playing:DDDDD

  • indeed there is a wrong note at the very end, but I heard it so many times and now I think this note is not played by touching a key. When you let down the right pedal all the dampers lay down on the strings to stop them swing.Sometimes a damper makes a noise if the pianist lets the pedal down very slowly. It sounds a little bit like a sitar. But you're right: he's a genius...

  • Really touching. I'm going to discover these pieces because of this video. Thanks a lot!

  • victor - I know you from Juilliard, you play like a giant - almost like a Gamal - ahhhhhhh!

  • you play like a giant

  • victor, I know you from the rubin academy, you are a great pianist. You play this piece like a giant

  • rubbing one out? Perhaps that is what you look like when you are "rubbing one out", but

to me, it looks like Victor Goldberg is playing a beautiful song on the piano.

  • why do these people all look like they are rubbing one out when they play?

  • perhaps the real question is why are you still alive?

  • This video beats all the other playings of 'October' on Youtube.

I've listened to sooooo many other versions played by different people and they all have either

    - been too loud

    - had not enough dynamic contrast between the different parts

    - had been not expressive enough. Emotionless

    - had been wayyyyyy too slow

    - was extremely slow than suddenly wayyyy too fast. Bad control of rubato.

This video was what exactly I was looking for. Victor Goldberg is a genius!

  • @cheeeselove

    it.s real

  • @cheeeselove Only true masters can play slowly. It's easier to hide behind the speed.

  • breathtakinly beautiful, deeply connected to the very core of the work.
