Cardinal Bertone faces many challenges the Church encounters. At times, sure, maybe he say's "off the cuff" remarks or remarks are taken out of context. He is human, he makes mistakes. We all do! I am not justifying anything but I am saying, let us take a moment to pray for our leaders who are faced with pressure from inside our Church and outside. Pray for our Pope, our bishops, priests and laity! United in Christ, not divided in Him!

I can't believe the comments on this. Catholics calling other people fags and throwing direct derogatory comments? This is not of Christ, whether a person disagrees with Cardinal Bertone or not, is no reason to start attacking another person. I read ALL of the comments and there is no justification for this whatsoever! I don't agree with my superiors all of the time but this would not warrant such a reprisal.

@gracestephanie I suppose you're speaking of his remarks about pedophilia and homosexuality. He simply was saying that most of the priests who were found to have abused children were homosexuals in that they mostly abused boys. He was right; but mainstream media sensationalized his remarks and made him out to be speaking about the general population. He wasn’t. Sometimes we have to get to the facts before we could draw conclusions. Your passion to stand up for our faith is noble. =)

The substance oof the theology you study teaches charity & a call to depart from hypocrisy.  Since you speak so well about judging, I ask that you exercise that restraint upon yourself and not pass severe opinions about the Cardinal. You should know to incorporate all aspects of one's acts – not just what he did in the last six months.

There isn't any liturgical significance to the biretta - matter of fact, he only wears it in Mass if he's in choir and not concelebrating. You're just showing off how much you know form wikipedia.
