i was thinking about getting this for myself cuz I'm in marching band and i just wanna get that POV while we d our run thrus. however i need the audio to be at least decent, do u think for instrument audio it'll be good?
@Hector95100 One of the comments on this video pointed out that the microphone hole is located under the yellow warning label on the camera. Once I removed the label, the audio got much better and I had to reduce the gain in the software. I used it on my rescent video on the Steel challenge match with the 38 super. See that vid for audio. There is some talking but not much.
For the audio alot of people forget to pull the sticker off the bottom and it makes the sound muffled since thats where the mic is. Thought with some this depends on the model.
@timpm78 The higher frame rate should give smoother video. A low frame rate will be jerky. BUT 30fps is pretty good anyway. I run it at 60fps just because the camera can.
The microphone for the CONTOUR HD is under the YELLOW WARNING STICKER underneath the camera , PEEL THAT OFF for better sound quality .
Personally I always use mine so that you can see the empty cases coming out of the rifle , know body wants to see my UGLY FACE UP CLOSE with the camera facing you recording IN HD on a pica-tinny rail!!!
The Contour HD is the pov camera I use as well. I love it. But I kind of want the new version with gps and Bluetooth connection so you can use the phone as a viewfinder and change all settings same as the ordinary sw.
@nictaylor00 + had the bluetooth function. The gps one have gps as well as that. I do not think I would need gps but using my phone as a viewfinder would be sweet.
Great review, man. Thanks for all the details and helpful perspective. I've been wanting to set up a POV rig for some time - this could be something I need. :)
@Hellsslave666 I was thinking about screwing a picatinny mount to the top of the bill, then using the picatinny mount to slide it on and off the hat. since the bezel turns you can adjust for the camera sitting sideways.
@glockman83 I was thinking the same thing! Right now I am seeing on the web, the contourHD can be found for about $149 USD. I paid $199 for mine with a coupon from REI. thought I was getting a deal...

you have an airsoft for home practice lol
grosfeu 5 months ago
@grosfeu Yeah, its one of the drawbacks of living in the city.
nictaylor00 5 months ago
@nictaylor00 do you think using an air soft for practice if i live in the city is good for practice or no?
leoffensive 3 months ago
@leoffensive I use an airsoft in the backyard of my house for practice. Just get a gas blowback one to help simulate a real gun.

I would recommend that you take the laser sicker off. Under that is where the mic is. You shouldn't have to have the mic gain up that high.

Is the higher frame rate what makes this camera work better for shoot videos?

can the laser light alignment go 180 deg. so you can put it at the bottom of the rail?
zaldyvar 6 months ago
@zaldyvar It only goes to 90 degrees in either direction. So if normal is at 12 o'clock, it can only be turned to 3 and 9 o'clock.

What do you think about mounting the cam the other round? Still on the hat, but I think that could bring the lense a little bit lower.
