  • How do they cope with salt water corrosion?

  • Interesting, I flew for Okanagan Helicopters Ltd. for 10 years. I guess I had a Canadian Class I phyical. Goes to show I either have a bad memory or I just never paid any attention to it. I did have a Class I FAA a couple times but mainly just needed a Class II in the USA with the type of flying I did.

  • Check my blog out as well! barefootpilot.blogspot.com

  • Captain Ron, you have met your match! Whoa, did a bear eat your eye? Honey, did you see how he parked that boat? That's a movie, this is real. Awesome!

  • Sweet :)

  • Class II is probebly all you need for that job. Class I is mainly airline (FAR 121) FAR 97 and FAR 135 are normally a class II.

I flew for 35 years with just a class II (My Air Traffic Control Cert. was also under a Class II)

  • @Walt554 this is a canadian company so they follow canadian rules. you need a Class 1 medical to fly commercially/for hire... Class 2 is for AME and ATC

  • @4fifty8 It's actually a Danish/Maldivian company. Nothing to do with Canada anymore.

  • maldives YEA!

  • @zuzupetals1999, Borek Air is a Canadian company, the aircraft are operated under Canadian Aviation Law, by Canadian trained pilots. Canadian Commercial Pilots need Class 1 Medicals. Go Twin Otter!

  • AMAZING!!!

  • Too bad for us Canadians Borek isn't operating MAT anymore. I would have loved a rotation or two down there.

  • when its made to look that easy it must be extremely difficult to pull off. great skills

  • That was some MAD SKILLZ!

  • Now that is slick. Very slick. Not like you get a second chance to unscrew that up.

  • Its hard to land a job with Borek, They want a CPL with Multi IFR and 1500hrs as the minimum for a Right seat job. You need a Class 1 Medical for a Commercial Pilot License

  • You don't need a Class 1 medical for a Commercial licence, you need a Class 2 to exercise commercial privileges (getting paid). Employers can specify a Class 1 medical and FAA part 121 operations require it (airlines). Kenn Borek must specify a Class 1 medical. The only difference with a Class 1 is once you turn 35, they also give you an EKG.

  • Left engine power up an right engine leaned back... not bad.. one good thing bout water is enough power an u can slide along just gotta get the right power an timing :)

  • thats sick dude.

  • thats crazy!

  • nuts

  • i used that air taxi when i was in the maldives!!!!

  • I just passed a 2nd class medical what can I do to boost my chances of working for them or some other company? Im in the middle of looking for some job and want to start flying lessons like next spring if I can get the funds. any tips? I can easily pass the private pilot online practice test. once did 60 que. 85percent in 25 min.

  • Hi there,

I am not sure what a 2nd class medical is. In any case Kenn Borek only hires copilots who have the right to work in Canada or Maldivians. The Captains come from all over the world. Min for a Captain is 2500 total,1000 float,250 on type,a 100 hour line indoc process if new to the Maldives and an ATPL.

Best of luck. Barefoot flying rules.

  • well thats out of the que.

  • Dear Seaplaneman, I am interested in purchasing a twin engine seaplane for surfing, fishing, and adventure trips. Ideally, I would like to spend less than 1 million usd. I am interested in the twin otter, but also the Grumman Mallard, any suggestions?

  • @Seaplaneman 2nd class medical is for CPL and ATPL licensing, and 1st class for PPL's...

  • The first thing you'll need to do is your private pilots license, afterwards you do your commercial license. A cat 2 medical is good enough for a private license, but if you want to fly commercial you'll have to do a cat 1 medical exam. They're much more thourough and only last a year. Those are the Canadian requirements. There's a long way to go before you pass that commercial, but good luck!

  • In order to work for company like Kenn Borek you have to most likely know someone who alreadys works for them or have an impressive log book. This company is one of the best at what it does in the world.

  • @crazyryan yea wit ur 2nd class medical you can get a co pilot job but as soon as u get to left seat u need ur 1st class medical and i would say in todays times it would be lucky if u got a job wit a regional airline

  • @crazyryan you have to have a commercial licence to work for anyone as a pilot

  • @crazyryan pretty sure u'll want a Class 1 medical if you intend on becoming a Commercial Pilot, Class 2 medicals are only for Air Traffic Controllers.

  • not his first day flying by the looks

  • is that the maldives?

  • yes it's the Maldives. That's Maldivian Air Taxi/Kenn Borek Air.

  • looks easy....but it's not

  • Twin Otter has no water rudders, so these pilots taxi it with only rudder (And that only in high speeds) and separate engine power control. Respect to these pilots!

  • Gotta love those twins!
