Do you live in the Dark ages.
Africa still holds much of the worlds natural wealth. The problem is, dictator governments cannot share the wealth and use it for developing the continent. Black governments steal the money, invest it off shore, and buy weapons and keep unrest going so they can continue to rape the land.
Educate yourself before commenting. Colonialism had effects on Africa but right now its corrupt governments stealing the goodies

@coluchristy Well, before ppl were cutting down trees and destroying the environment to build homes, they were building homes from the earth anyway. In the Americas, at least in places in the west and on downward into what we call "Mexico" they made homes from mud too. They called it ADOBE.. its from the earth.
And sometimes, it isn't about fortune. Some people, especially herders, aren't going to build permanent houses. They follow the cattle.

There are plenty of (black) tribes that only recently have come in contact with (Western) civilization and their huts and circumstances are just as humble. The African continent still has abundant (and untouched) natural resources, since those resources are not what the Europeans were after, as we know.
