Anyone know if Alice pioneered the front low cut thing? This is the earliest I've seen an outfit like that and he is known for having pioneered rock theatrics. Freddie Mercury did the same thing.
This is definitely my fave Alice Track ever - and on my fave Alice Album. He played it as an encore when I saw him at Manchester Apollo. It's a Classic!
Back in '73, when I had hair, was fit and pulled in the chicks, got stoned and drunk, now I am old, fat (well not that fat), bald ya, (shave my head) don't smoke or drink, and just a has-been that never was :)
To the original AC band, thanks for the memories...
@welcome2myhell Why your mother did not cop it up the ass the night you were concieved, we'll never know.....
You're just another coward who hides behind the cardboard armour of the internet insulting anyone for no reason..... do the world a favour and kill yourself....
@walrustusks1 Who sadly was replaced in the studio by everyone from Rick Derringer to Steve Hunter. The poor guy just wasn't that great! Listen to his lead here...nothing like the record on which Derringer played the lead. Buxton plays a two note lead. I( know he's dead and I am sorry for that but the truth is the truth. Alice himself even said once in frustrastion that the oly thing Glen could play was "I'm Eighteen".
This was when the Alice persona was more androgynous and kind of swishy ( gay seeming ). He made the persona more macho, violent and horrorific later on .
THIS is better, I think, than the other video of this song which is posted here and looks to be from about the same time period ( same costumes and make up, .. slightly different hairstyle though ), .. wonder why two of them were made ? I think it's that shimmering blue backdrop screen in this one, .. thats pretty cool looking .
It would have to be said that even by the time KISS arrived, they weren't new. Even though Alice Cooper (even he admits) made some dodgy records in the early 80's - an innocent musical direction change - you can't accuse him or his group of doing this to take money from fans and delivering substandard albums. KISS haven't delivered anything great since Destroyer - it will be sometime before KISS get in to RRHOF - as I don't think their peers rate them all that highly. Sad but true.
Would have liked to see Alice wind up with a bigger album catalog. Once he got off the drink (thankfully) and made a bunch of money, he didn't seem inspired to write a lot of new material. That he inspired a generation of bands - no question.
Kiss used to play in my neigbhorhood in nYC all the time with the NY Dolls and the Magic Tramps... The Tramps ( Messiah was another name they went by) and the Dolls all wore a lot of make up and were really glammed up. I'm sure Paul Stanley was heavily influenced by all of it but they found a way to take it to the kids of America around 75 w hen the Dolls and Tramps had sadly broken up. Bowie was shrewd and changed his alter ego and went for a completely different sound thus being fresh.
@jimscape KISS to me weren't a genuine band. Up until Destroyer they were great and then they became a money making machine taking money from fans and delivering ordinary music. Probably the main reason why their peers won't vote them into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Alice Cooper the group, and Alice Cooper the solo artist, was always about the art, the music, and making sure it was up to scratch. The work that went into the Welcome to Nightmare show was phenomenal!

Dude, why don't you do a little research before you start throwing your prejudices around. Read an article on the original Alice Cooper band. It is called historical research. What might you find? Zappa, androgyny, the GTO's. And again keep your prejudices to yourself.
damm Alice started out with some good looking costumes , I wonder why he had transformed into the raggedy ripped up long johns later in his carrer?

ギターのグレン・バクストンの大ファンでした。
彼らのグループ時のCDは、今でも「私の宝物」として大事にラックに入っています。
「デッド・ベイビーズ」も大好きでした。

They played at my high school in Tucson as "The Spyders" back in late 60's. They were damn good then, too.

He's not stoned. Alice was an alky in those days. Never a druggy. The whole band was a bunch of jocks who loved to drink. No hippies they.
