I remember recording Rick's solo for "Like A Rock": he and Bob were both nervous and excited to be working together for the first time. It had the electric energy in the room. I quickly got a level and punched in the first run through... lucky for me, as it blew us away! We fixed one or two spots and THAT was the solo now heard countless times as the signature lick of those Chevy commercials. Monster player, super-nice guy, I was priveleged to be in the room. I'm a fan. -DC
@themixguy: What an under-appreciated talent his man is! Many popular music fans have heard him, they just may not realize it. Rick's playing on Seger's "Like a Rock" album is amazing, and not only on the title song. I also wondered for years who was it on those great guitar parts on songs by Jackson Browne and Fleetwood Mac... it was Rick there, too. In addition to being an amazing talent, he seems like a great person.
