  • it's champagne b/c she is so damn smooth

  • so underrated, so powerful

  • Since this happens to be classified as real music 100%,I wish that there were Black radio stations in USA would play this version.

  • I did not know this was her, awl shit I should have known!

  • i can dance to this forever!

  • 6:18- 8:18 She took it all the way there!! smh

  • the loft Prince and Mercer Dave use to rock the house with this, girls would go wild and let u make love to them that night LOL

  • @ptownfreddy, Is P-town Peoria, Illinois? I heard this song a whole lot of times while going to school there...

  • @!OldeSkool, Here in the Chi it was the Oriental (before the gang fight), the McVickers (with feet on the seat in front of you; rats ain't to be fucked with), and the State & Lake, but I'm feeling you...

  • @Icedrunk1 Yoooo!!!!!! You just took me BACK! Those were the days! The REAL Chicago!

  • nice groove

  • Sandra Dee Lawson.

  • Thanks for uploading this classic. I was a mobile DJ in the 1980's in NYC and this was one of my most requested songs. I should have never sold my vinyl and equipment.

  • school yard classic for me!

  • I dont know i its right to let you make love to me tonight? No question..lets make love.

  • Thanks Unsung for the heads up :-)

  • One of my favorite songs by Evelyn Champagne King. I was in high school when this came out. This song was a big hit at the high school parties.

  • Ha ha I had this on a 45 when I was little girl. Those were the days.

  • I remember buying her vinyl album after hearing this version on the radio, and was so completely disappointed when the short version was on it instead. I could not find the 12' single either. I finally found the extended version MP3 last year online.

    So Love this version.

    Shagoon...gie.....

  • This song is one of my all time favorites...few vocalists can match this...and she was just a teenager!! Back then a singer had to actually sing...not like now where they Auto-Tune everyone and get them on pitch and sounding like robots!! LOL!!

  • @muzikfan2000 my thoughts exactly! absolutely hate the way they sound today, and love this to this day..

  • @TRAVISBR7 Today's day's music industry has destroyed music as a whole! As a grade school kid, I remember that this was a joint the was played on the radio. Now to hear something of this caliber, you either have to dust off your oldies, or go to a club where the dj plays good house and disco cuts. Well after all, what can you expect when they have taken the fundamentals theory of music education from the school systems and kids are buying MPC's and other plug ins thinking they are musicians.

  • I had no idea it was Evelyn that sang this song. I've been searching up and down for this song everywhere! So glad Unsung helped me out with that lol

  • Dang that was a good song. She delivered excellently

  • I was just watching unsung. The story was about her. Beautiful song.

    Thank you

  • This my jam

  • SHE WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!

    A PARTY JAM!

  • Its not easy being the bomb!!!

  • @2009Denisem Those were the good old days. I remember times at the club also that the dance floor was packed. The house parties were off the chain. Old school music is my favorite to this day. I love it! I'm glas I was born in time to experience, enjoy & love this music.

  • TV One's Unsung will do a episode on her in a couple of weeks if the date doesn't change.

  • Awesome song

  • This was the jam back in the day!!! As a teen back in the late 1970's, I remember playing this song non-stop for hours..It sounds just as good today as it did back then!!!Thanks for posting!!!

  • Always a HOT Request and One I could Listen to Everyday!! ENJOY!!!!!!

  • I love love this song~

  • Thanks for posting this!!! The single version ends way to soon and leaves you wanting more of that great groove. Thank god for the 12 inch single era!!

  • @2009Denisem: There will never be days like that again. As TravisBR7 stated dwelling on them is PAINFUL!!!!!...I loved myself a Brooklyn block party. smdh

  • My fave Evelyn Champagne King song!!!!!!

  • WERQQQQQQ Evelyn!!!!!!!

  • this song takes me back to skate city on 61st street off of racine in chicago back in 1978. that place used to be packed with top knotch skaters and dancers. this was a number one hit back then. hey there LAVONIA ANDERSON!

  • OMG. I haven't heard this version in years. Thank you so much for posting, TRAVISBR7. :-) This is my favorite song by Evelyn.

  • @2009Denisem Yes, me too, homegirl.

  • @2009Denisem :Yeah nothing like a NYC block party in the summer! Good music, food ,people, partying!

  • This song always had a greater appeal to me than "Shame", which appears on the same album.

  • @srn1962 Absolutely. The vocals and music are a perfect match. I love the lyrics.

  • literally a classic... the music of today (2011) has nothing on the music of 60's-90's

  • The Fox Theater and kung fu movies. The Frontier Hotel and Cameo Coney Island. When Down Town Detroit was fun....Willie Pearl Jones....thank you for bringing me and Michelle up in the best of times. We love and miss you very much!!

  • @PumaDown You are so right to mention not just the music but those cheesy kung fu and b horror flicks at the downtown theatres. In Oakland we had the Lux, Roxie & T&D. Those indeed were the good old days.

  • CHA-CHA, TO THE LEFT, CHA-CHA TO THE RIGHT,LOL!!

  • this was the jam back in the day speakers full blast out the dorm window.!!! high school friends jammed out to this tune..

  • Love this song one of my FAvorites

  • I miss my disco music. I have been a paramedic for 21 years and when I have had a depressing day at work I have always had my family and my music ( disco ) to keep me from loosing it. I think being a paramedic is the most rewarding job in the world and thank god for my family and my music. sincerely, zeke robinson.

  • Another timeless classic of the 70's. Thanks for posting this. Brings back such good memories of being in college, going to the football dances, dancing all night, going to Denny's or some other truck for breakfast.

Back in those days we hung out as a group, danced until we were sweating until the wee hours of the morning.God did I ever have fun dancing to the disco beat!

  • Thanks for posting this song. I love her sound and this is my favorite song!

  • @2009Denisem

how bout changing the needle on the record player

  • This has always been my favorite song by her.

  • Still makes one want to "shake their booty/groove-thing" - and also there's a message in this song for ALL US WOMEN - that I really wished I would followed to the letter (both in & out of my clubbing days) !

  • @2009Denisem wow dang chill hun or ur gunna make the doc take a cold shower talkin that way lol!

  • @2009Denisem Wow Woe party party hardy! how the days n years go flying by errr! where a timemachine when you need one!

  • @2009Denisem hi denise. loved your testimony. can imagine exactly what you describe. I too have similar memories and keep reminding myself not to dwell on them as they are almost too painful!

  • @TRAVISBR7 I am 35 now but I remember being a kid when my mom played this kinda music, and I know exactly what you're talking about. I miss the days too,and it doesn't seem like it was 30 yrs ago. I think about those times and I get sad as well. It's a bittersweet feeling, but at least we know what it is to have a listen to AWESOME music! Not like today's music.

  • I used to Disco Dance My behind off to this song. : )

  • Thanks for posting the full version; gotta have it all!

  • THE SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...good memories of block parties and the summer of '79. Wow...

  • The original album version has a nice soft intro instead of a pasted piece of a bridge beginning the song. It's on the Jap cd Smooth Talk and well worth hearing for fans of the soulful side of disco. This versions good but I like the other one better.

  • thanx man!!!!

  • absolutely. and how great the vinyl sounded in clubs...

  • Why is this record so damn good?

    1) Evelyn's gritty, 17-years-old-going-on-hard-life-age 40 vocals.

    2) The contrast of thereforesaid with sweet, "I'm-a-virgin-and-I-don't-wan't-to-f*ck-up" lyrics.

    3) Producer T. Life's kick-butt arrangement of a full orchestra that complimented Evelyn without overwhelming her, while maintaining a very R&B feel.

  • @ptownfreddy I love it, so true

  • @ptownfreddy WELL SAID ; )))))))

  • @ptownfreddy WELL SAID ; )))))))

  • @ptownfreddy Great point made! I love this album..
