LT-1 love.. i have a cam in my 96 camaro ss 6 spd, longtube headers full exhaust bigger injectors performance roller rockers double twined valve springs hardened pushrods and i pulled a 2000 ls1 camaro ss they are pretty much the same ls1 as that vette. seems right on
@JoseChavezSinaloa thats a c5 vette it has an ls1 not an lt1 totaly different engine and also the c5 vetttes have a transaxle the trans is bolted to the rear end and they have driveshaft tubes from the clutch to the front of the trans the craziest shit ud ever see
@green ta idk bout your vette being a factory freak my stock 98 ls1 trans am automatic well i say stock it had gmmg chambered set up but i ran 8.15 to 8.30s all day long in the 8/th mile with 1.6 60ft times i out ran many ls1 goats with heads cams slicks many 347 stroked foxbodys and c5s but most vettes are geared for gas mileage and top speed my c4 has 2.59 gears and its slow as dog shit at the moment so put some gears in your vette and u will feel like u have 400hp to the wheels
Looks like you have a good running LT1, I had one that put down almost the exact numbers you did. It all depends on the cars you race and the driver. I LOVED my LT1 TA, but I parted it out to buy a C5. My c5 is headers, high flow cats, billy boat cat back, cat back and a tune. It would destroy my LT1 car, but my vette is putting down 350-360 RWHP and is several houndred pounds lighter. But then again a heads and cam LS1 GTO could only put a car on my vette. So maybe its a factory freak?
@grafitti0807 actualy it kept up bc trans am share same tranny and engine with the corvette unlike the camaro that has the de tuned version. trans ams aint no joke a few mods nd u have a four seater vette i have a vette by the way
@JoseChavezSinaloa Uhh...check your facts. The TransAm, Firebird Formula, and Camaro SS / Z28 all share the same drivetrains. The vette gets them first, then they trickle down to the Firebird/Camaro.
The LT1 arrived in the 1992 Corvette, and GM switched to the LS1 in 1997. F-bodies got the LT1 starting in 1993, and moved to the LS1 in 1998. Its been typical for GM to drop the vette's engine into the F-body about 1 year after it shows up in the vette.
@wjrneo2 The Engine is the same, however everything from the bell housing back is COMPLETELY different. Torque tube, transmission, differential. Corvette is IRS.
@green96ta I was speaking about the engines more than the transmissions. I know drivetrains usually refers to engine/trans that was a typo on my part, but the engines themselves are very much the same.
@grafitti0807 Its a Coupe as the video states. While it does seem to have the 1/4 panel vents, it has the normal rear hatch glass of the Vette Coupe. 5th generation Corvette Z06's only came in the Fixed Roof Coupe (Aka FRC).
The vette has the vents, but other than that it has no other Z06 items. That said, there is very little difference between a LS1 and LS6. Every LS1 is just a heads/cam/intake away from making LS6 power and beyond.
And obviously if the camaro didnt spin first the vette wouldnt have got that lead and yet the camaro still caught back up quick. What kinda cam you runnin?
nice clean race there, I dont know what everyones arguing about..lt1 isnt a bad motor and they have similar hp/tq numbers cuz of the cam/headers in the lt.
@mike510 Agreed. light to light I beat LS1 corvettes all the time with my LT1vette. The LS1 is a little quicker but only because it revs a little higher. the LT1 has more grunt off the line & if I race a driver who shifts too soon Ill beat them every time (turns out that most do). The LS1 also has a higher top end so it will always catch an LT1 but the same cannot be said for the LT4 & 5. On a side note I love the rush of acceleration from a LT1 & LS1 motor just before redline. Woooop!, bark!
@bronxboyXXX Hell yea, I'm not dissapointed with my lt1 camaro but I just wish it had the top end of the ls1. I don't know if I should sell it and go for an ls1 or put a lt4 cam/intake/etc. But I take my friends 5.0 with cam/heads/carbed with ease (but its a 3speed auto lol) and my other friends 97 gt 5speed and I only have a short ram intake and a cutout, I love it haha. Plus the lt sounds wayyyy better than the ls.
@mike510 I wouldn't worry about the top end. its not like you go past 140 that often and I'm not that sure Id want to be going 160+ in an F body. I also have a 00 TA I got when my father passed away recently and the difference is night and day in the handling department. I don't drive it much because sometimes I forget what car I'm in and fly into turns faster than the car can handle. last time I did I almost shit my pants. My advice would be to invest in the suspension 1st and then the pipes.
@bronxboyXXX lol yea 160+ in an F body would be an insane death wish haha but a good way to go out :) But yea I got mine lowered on some eibach sportlines with some zr1's, it handles pretty good. The thing is, is I was gonna sell it but then I couldn't pass smog, turns out my opti was bad the whole time I had it so I got it fixed but now idk what the hell to do with it. And its like the ls1 only has around 30-50rwhp more stock but its the aluminum block and non-opti setup that I like lol
@mike510 I figured out how to fix the Opti-spark for good. #1 you should do it yourself. #2 it must be sealed with a special aircraft sealant (i'll try to find you the name) #3 you need to put a piece of tin between the water pump spindle and the opti spark itself because what happens is when you run in the rain or if your water pump goes, any water that gets on that spindle is spun, cuts through the seal & gets in the opti spark. Block it from cutting the seal & you never need to worry again.
@mike510 but anyway, you're on the right track however the mane problem with the LT1 on the F body is breathing & exhaust. if you don't address that 1st your power increase will be minimal. a new cam will help you a lot but It may kill your fuel economy (hard to say) but better breathing will improve that as well as your HP& torque. but don't just get new mufflers, get better pipes. after that you may want to have the ECU reprogrammed to reline at 6100 rpm & consider forced induction.
@bronxboyXXX The only problem with going FI is I'd have to run low boost (5-7lbs) without forged internals and thats a boat load of money/work. But thats interesting about the optispark "cover" I was thinking about trying something like that or I read you can put a 95-97 cap on it and make it so that you can have the tube that goes through the intake but that seems like a lot of work as well. How would I make a cover for it? I have a 94.
@mike510 since I have a 95 I have that tube but It probably does more harm than good. You would get better results by simply drilling 2 small holes at 12 & 6 "O" clock & covering the one at 12 "O" clock with a durable fabric that breaths. Before I forget you should also protect the wire connector so putting some sealant there is a good idea. As for the covering you can use durable plastic too. you just need to protect the seal at 11 to 1 "O" clock with something that wont melt or rust.
@kkleekyger actually you're just a dumbass. there are plenty of cam-only LT1 setups that will shit stomp a full bolt-on LS1 car (yes, even vettes)...gm847 and cc306 LT1's cam only (untouched heads/bottom end) make in the neighborhood of 350-370 rwhp, which is more than you see bolt-on LS1 cars making.
aside from this tard commenting about something he knows nothing about, GOOD VIDEO! and nice race
@kkleekyger and by cam-only i mean stock unported heads, which is the nomenclature for LTx and LSx cars...(all supporting mods including valvesprings, pushrods, RR, exhaust, etc.)
HAHA, there must have been a lot more done to that WS6 to pull on a bolt on Vette. I own Camaro with a 500RWHP LT1 and a 450RWHP 98 Vette and there is no comparison.
I came across this video by chance, thats my old car. No the brake ducts are not stick-ons they were real. Almost didnt buy the car actually over that cause they were kinda permanent since they had cut holes in the fender but they used all OE shit so it was actually a nice fully functional mod. Wasnt "trying to be a ZO6" either...had one alreay. Whats gay is ZO6 fender badges on a targa top. PS that car was just as fast as my stock '02 Z06. thanks veXati0n! ...eat a bag of dicks TWIZTTID

@Stillremains1 i dont think anybody would be driving that, great investment car, but either way, there was only 1 made, thats why its specifically called "JIMS" cormaro, and i dont even consider it a concept car, it was made by an executive of GM, not the actual company
@motostud08 The Ws6 is like the Camaro SS. This is an LT1 engine, put with a few extra things under the hood, making it slightly faster than the firebird formula or camaro z28.
And the thing I love about Corvettes, Fake Z06, it still looks good :). In fact that's one of the future projects I want to tackle. I love the C5 coupe body frame (the most aerodynamic Corvette till this day) Put functional rear brake ducts. Fake you call it?? It'll still look just as gorgeous as any other Corvette to me. Stock vs stock, the T/A will pull the Vette lower in the MPH, the Corvette will catch up and pass in the higher end. It's a fact.
i hope everyone that has a comment realizes the first zo6s were rated at 385 hp. fake or not a cammed t/a would have no problems running door to door with the older z06 vette. it is what it is ppl
ryanmtanner ,yes the ls1 is a better engine theres no arguing about that people fight evryday on which one is better lol but i have respect for both in different ways
@TWIZTTID or he just likes the rear brake scoops and installed them. Why does everyone say this guy's a fake z06 just because he put a brake duct in? Are yellow Corvettes fake C5Rs? lol fuckin lame
@veXati0n It's because it's not a REAL brake duct, its just a stick on, it does absolutley nothing, about as pointless as a sticker, or those chrome stick on vents you buy from autozone. It's to look like a Z06 but not having the HP to back it up. It's like mustangs V6 pony package....just gay
Yor right. A passenger really makes alot of difference. Between me and my friends WRX. When he had a passenger I won by 2 lengths. When I had a passenger he won by 1 length. We have yet to do a race with no passengers. :)
Would my V6 mustang beat both cars? What would I need to do to beat these cars one day?

@veXati0n It's because it's not a REAL brake duct, its just a stick on, it does absolutley nothing, about as pointless as a sticker, or those chrome stick on vents you buy from autozone. It's to look like a Z06 but not having the HP to back it up. It's like mustangs V6 pony package....just gay

Damn bro! Nice run! LS1s are beasts..but you can't forget that the LT1s can put down some major power.

Nice run. That just shows th power of an LS1 though. Imagine it had a cam also. :)

Yor right. A passenger really makes alot of difference. Between me and my friends WRX. When he had a passenger I won by 2 lengths. When I had a passenger he won by 1 length. We have yet to do a race with no passengers. :)
