  • Two shills of the corporate State battling each other. What a thrill!

Right wing socialism or Left wing socialism?

War on Terror or Environmental Alarmism?

    Take your pick, slaves!

  • I heard that this Friedfag wants a new tax on gasoline, keeping it at $4...

  • If you Tax carbon you will never be able to eliminate it. Taxing is the most effective way to ensure Governments depend on the tax dollars for their budgets and keeps otherwise harmful products like tobacco, alcohol (I like to drink but booze is the root of 90% of social problems compounded by low opportunities and family support) gasoline legal. You should get a tax refund for buying a wind turbine, a heat pump & solar panels. Dont buy a new car, buy a micro generation system.

  • the resolution of designing and developing new renewable green technologies to replace our fossil fuel resources makes drilling for more oil a complete nonsense."Drill Baby Drill" is totally absurd nowadays.

  • GM has spent MILLIONS revamping the all new Camaro! It's bigger, faster, and more gas guzzling than the older one. And now GM wants MORE OF YOUR TAX DOLLARS! Tell GM where to go!

  • What about the other vehicles that get good gas milage. How about the Chevy Volt or Chevy Cruze. You don't know what you are talking about.

  • The Chevy Volt does not exist. It is still a DREAM on the Chevy drawing boards. They have built pretty-shiney models but do not yet have the guts for it because GM sold the battery to Chevron 10 years ago. So, I don't know what I'm talking about? Yeah, you are just curious, aren't you? And as far as your other very lame excuses for the EV1 not being put into production, any new car (and I mean ANY) will not make a profit until it is taken from experimentation and into production.

  • Chrysler is coming out with THREE electric vehicles in 2010 - not just one like GM or the others. The auto makers HAVE to bring the cars to market and give consumers a choice!

  • Actually, they have only committed to bringing one to market (probably the electric only sports car). GM is already setting up the following vehicles to the Volt.

  • That's all GOOD news to me! BRAVO for the auto industry FINALLY coming to it's senses and bringing the all-electric vehicles to market.

  • Actually, Chrysler is thinking about getting out of the auto industry all together. The economy is deffinitely a factor that will help make that decision for them.

  • YouTube "Who killed the electric car?"

GM had it, but big oil made them kill it.

Now the big 3 are struggling so bad that GM and Chrysler are considering to merge.

    Screw them.

They don't deserve a bailout that they may ask for...

  • I have to agree. They say that if GM goes under that thousands will be unemployed. What crap. If GM goes Under, Toyota or Nissan will put those people back to work! The strong and intelligent will survive. I say let GM sink. Idiots!!!!

  • Maybe, or maybe they'll just raise the prices of their cars, since there will be less competition. Isn't that what Home Depotdid? Toyota wasn't bound by laws and stifling agreements like Ford and GM were. Say what you want about the Big 3 but they set the standard of both creating an affordable, quality product and providing the best jobs in the US.The wonderful Japanese companies never had to deal with such things.

  • Both Toyota and Honda build cars here in the United States so they do have to follow the same rules. And yet, they thrive. So, now what is your excuse?

  • What i meant by learning from the mistakes of the Big 3 was that they didn't get into dealing with Unions. Please don't think for a second Im defending the Big 3.Once upon a time they were very competitive, even with in.

  • If GM killed the electric car, then why didn't Toyota, Honda, Ford, etc pick up on it and make an all electric? I'll answer the question. The EV1 was an all electric 2 seater that would not pass crash tests. They leased about 1100 cars as an experimental venture. In order to make a profit, they would have needed to charge about $80,000 per car. In the mid 1990's very few people would have paid that kind of money for this type of vehicle. The battery technology was there in the 1990's.

  • Agreed, but can we really expect inefficient, overweight GM to produce an affordable Electric car? Wasn't most of the development budget actually funded by Tax breaks?

All electric cars have one fault that you need to recharge the battery. Why haven't Drop In/Drop Out batteries been available at Gas Stations? You wouldn't expect to wait for gasoline Refraction before you could fill up would you? Its made difficult on PURPOSE so you dont buy them. We should get Tax Rebate for going electric.

  • I absolutely agree with you!

  • OBAMA '08 !!!!!!!!!!

  • pwnage, McCain is a fossil fuel.. BS.

  • This guy is clueless. America could have had energy independence 30 years ago if there wasn't this attempt for the government to pick winners. If America let the Nuclear and fossil fuel industries fight it out over the last 30 years we would be decades ahead in nuclear power refining capacity and about the same as far as exploration goes. Screw this price signal crap. I let the market set a price signal for me not some progressive hacks.

  • As long as we allow OPEC and communist countries to set the production rate and price of oil, no corporation will invest the capital (like GM with the electric car, which failed becasue of low gas prices) to find a solution to our energy problems. They are drug pushers setting the price to keep you coming back and out of treatment centers. In addition, when one party has such an advantage over others in the marketplace there is no market, it's an anti-market because the choices are nil.

  • But they can't anymore. It is common knowledge in the oil industry that the ability of OPEC nations outside Saudi Arabia can not rank up production quickly if needed. This is important because it is the sole means by which member nations of OPEC can punish a state that decides to cheat and raise production at the inflated price. There are other market solutions but few people feel like going into deep water liquefying coal of turning to shale oil. Also Nuclear power needs to break out.

  • Citizens of the world have to come together to once again overthrow the new king and insist on the free market palce of ideas and commerce. The problem GM has is our congress stes a standard that they them sleves could not understand.

  • Overthrow the new King? We just elected him because we were so tired of the old King! Give him a chance! Oh, and the standards that you speak of that GM has to follow are nothing more than what Toyota, Honda, and Nissan have been setting for themselves and you don't see any of them ponying up to congress for a handout do you? And, yes, all three of them make cars and trucks in the United States. Face it. GM, Ford, and Chrysler make vehicles that Americans don't want!

  • I completely agree. If it wasn't for corporations controling the Congress and the market place, we'd have men on mars mining metal alloys that would be scarce here.WHen bountiless sources of unimaginable minerals are discovered there there will be our next economic boom. The problem will be ppl like TBoone and Pelosi trying to regulate such mining.

  • Mining has to be regulated. Or else more miners will die. But that seems to be okay with you. Some would say there's a special place in hell for people who would let others die so they could have coal.
