  • Goosebumps!

  • Totally deserves her top 100 singers position by Rolling Stones magazine.

  • Wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing this.

  • sinatra no es mas que un indiecito

  • Who on earth could dislike something so perfect...?

  • At 2:25, Ella does not fail at tearing me up. That part of this whole performance is just unbeliavble. It was so powerful and moving yet at the same time, so incredibly tender and passionate. Goodness gracious Ella, you make cry all the time.

  • Wunderfull as everything from Ella! She IS the top forever!

  • Wunderfull as everything from Ella!

  • Beautiful haha 1:15-1:18

  • Ella's lookin' good here!!!

  • THE WONDERFULL, ELLA FITZGERALD!!!!!!! THE FIRST LADY OF JAZZ MUSIC, AND, THE FIRST LADY OF MUSIC,WONDERFULL.

  • LOVELOVELOVE

  • WOW! I have to use another word now=MARVELOUS! Ella is a diamond in the ruff. She set the stage for our jazz performers of todays' times. A MA SING!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This really brings me to tears.

  • Ella kills it on this version, her voice is something special and this take is one of my favorite versions ive ever heard. If you like this one please check out my multiple versions of this song, a slow, solo piano take and a fast version with my jazz group! please check them out and subscribe while your there!!! :D

  • I would give 10 years of my life to have Ella perform for my private parties! Or, I guess I could just buy the albums and listen to them for 10 more years.

  • Just Amazing!! Amy Winehouse did more than justice and Miss Ella omg what a pure woman!!

  • love how she ended the song

  • The artist's of today, need to take sometime and study the greats, music would then improve.

  • @SuperTruthful They do, they are just the ones who get the least support.

  • @lowercasepeople49 ...I think i believe that!

  • I wished that I lived a time where she was still around. But, i live in the present, longing for another "Ella" to come along. We Miss You Miss Ella!

  • Ive just been blown away!

  • This is absolute magic, there will never ever be another Ella, great stuff,RIP Ella

  • leaves you speechless

  • Amy Winehouse did more than justice in many of these legendary songs. no one can deny it. in her short life she revived this spirit. this soul. Ella, Billie, Sarah. magic. Amy Winehouse led me to them and for that i'm absolutely grateful to her.

  • To mention Amy Winehouse in the same sentence as Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald...how sad! Ella and Billie were TRUE jazz singers!

  • @olbrneyes Don't joke. At least Amy can sing(well used to) along with Adele. The rest of these so call singers can even sing a note. The problem with Amy was that the alcohol & drugs get in the way. Dam shame.

  • @olbrneyes Amy was a good jazz singer. You're being biased. Even the GREAT Tony Bennet said Amy was a good jazz singer and she was real.

  • @olbrneyes

Listen to Amy Winehouse's stunning rendition of "Lullaby Of Birdland" and her moving, heartfelt ballad version of "I Should Care". Listen to her last song that she made with Tony Bennett "Body and Soul"--it's just beautiful and Amy was great with her phrasing and the interpretation of the lyric in that version. Actually I think her voice got more jazzy near the end of her life.

  • @mrbaddel77 Thanks for the note! I have it on VHS tape, one of 6 tapes of various Sinatra concerts...one of which you can clearly see Lucille Ball and her husband Gary Morton sitting in the VIP section...

  • i'm really looking forward to the Winehouse Version now

  • @monjamonjamonjamonja me too, me tooo! :D

  • @monjamonjamonjamonja there is a preview on youtube already..."Tony Bennett and Amy winehouse Body & Soul preview" search it like this!!

  • Frank Sinatra introduces Ella Fitzgerald. Unbelievable.

  • amy winehouse and tony bennett's version will be exciting to hear.

  • Wow, wonder how Amy Winehouse would sing this?...

  • @azchefchuck We will soon find out it will be out 9/2011. I surely hope it's leaked, I really want to hear it.

  • Ella Fitzgerald-the anti diva. She comes on a tv show to sing for just a few minutes and is totally into it. Marvelous! And of course Frank was always a man of class. There are men with his class now but none with the combination of talent.

  • unique nothin like it ever.out of this world.many thanks.

  • They don't make songs, or ARTISTS like this anymore..... *sigh*

  • Simply magnificent! This lady is a legend,Thank you for this!

  • I don't know how she did this, but I felt emotion coming through this youtube video.

  • This is an amazing show - I have a copy of it on VHS tape - not sure if it's been released on DVD or BlueRay - but it should!

  • @jmj18462 Yeah its on DVD, but it might be deleted.

  • @jmj18462 i have it on dvd.the whole show.from amazon

  • Ella always had that youthful sound to her voice! Just love that classy lady!

  • DAZZLING!!!!!!!!

  • absolute perfection!!!!

  • Just been listening to Johny Hodges - Ella has his saxophone down there somewhere!

  • I think I watched this 50 times today

  • and looking beautiful

  • it really doesn't get any better than this.

  • A goddess. Nothing less.

  • In my opinion, the most beautiful voice that I've ever heard.

  • Flawless.

  • she has this incredible natural aura in her performance.

  • Outstanding phrasing and unsurpassed technique.

  • woe is me! i almost forgot that there are singers much better than the very best. ella f is certainly one of them.

  • No body could sing like this beautiful girl.

  • @jameswdaleguitars Anita Baker

  • Ella, my queen, my teacher, my consolation...

  • Ella, my queen, my teacher, my consolation...

  • This was real music in the 70's. Then the music industry was hijacked by freemasons.

  • @OMG7291X it was hijacked waay before the seventies

  • That's pretty close to heaven.

  • Nobody beats Ella Fitzgerald. She's the best.

  • @thehungrycat Ite isent mi style

  • begs the question...WTF happened to music.

In a related story, the light flare ellas earing makes on these 70's cameras is RAD!

  • sie ist einzigartig und hat eine unglaubliche art die sie mit sicherheit jeden Ton so natürlich und ungezwingt trifft.

Wie ein Instrument auf das man spielt. Sie ist einfach in Worte nicht zu fassen

    Klasse! FRAU!!!!!!

  • This is fantastic!! The singing is superb and the arrangement just oozes with heat underneath that cool relaxed tempo....Nelson was a master!

  • She is positively a class act, number 1!!!!

  • She was the most perfect singer of the world... I mean, she still is! I love her.

  • My heart is sad and lonely, For you i sigh, just for you dear only,

Why haven't you seen it?, I'm all for you, Body and Soul,

I spend my days in longing and wond'ring why it's me you're wronging,

I tell you I mean it, I'm all for you, Body and Soul.

  • I can't believe it, it's hard to conceive it, that you'd turn away romance,

are you pretending?, it looks like the ending,

i wish i could have one more chance to prove, dear.

My life a wreck you're making, you know I'm yours for just the taking,

I'd gladly surrender myself to you, Body and Soul

  • i saw these two on pbs a good while back and i feel in love with the two of them.

  • Not one of Nelson Riddle's best arrangements

  • She is contented to tell the story. No need to show off. So much respect for both the melody and the lyric. And she looks absolutely beautiful.

  • American Idol fools take note! Ella was not only a class act, but an excellent singer that had perfect pitch and didn't have to scream, she SANG! And Wonderfully!!!

  • flawless

  • This is from 1967, not from the '70s.

  • WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Everything is just perfect in this video. Her voice and the orchestra, every end of sentence, the unpretentious way she sings and also something that I miss these days, they knew how to make a close up in television, the right image in the right moment.. it´s simply wonderful!

  • @jfacps79 love yu

  • Que voz linda...the greatest singer in the world

  • i got stunned for 3:23 minutes..

This is one of my favorite performances of "Body and Soul" by the great Lady of Song Ella Fitzgerald! And Ella looks so beautiful too--great camera work too . . . .I love how the camera moves around her too!

  • @MusicLoverBrian1 yes so true :)

  • real diva

  • Aww.. She sounded so wonderful and yet looked so sad =(

  • Ella is the epitome of a Songbird.

  • I agree Leomaruli! An artist blessed with this kind of talent stands perfectly in an elite class by herself, with her remarkable style. An icon.

  • she looks good!!!!

  • One word "WOW"!!!!!!

  • whenever Mrs. Fitzgerald sings , the song skips your head ,goes right for your heart .

  • @15wingate lol i don't think it skips anything! i hear, see, smell and feel it everywhere!!! mmmmm goosebumps

  • wonderful and knowing all the kind things that she did for children makes her even more beautiful to me.

  • The greatest version of this song sung by the greatest singer of all time

  • this is one hip awesome sounding chick at 50!

  • wow x 2

  • wow.

  • Don't you love how Frank handled that intro? These two were the pinnacle of the art of modern voice.

  • @jazzguitardotcom there's also a tune she sings that he introduces her

and for this one he says something like: ladies and gentlemen, miss fitzgerald

    sings, with angel eyes

for i remembered the name of the song, it's angel eyes

  • the 5 people to dislike this only clicked it by mistake. i'm sure of it.

  • @purfectpuff Those 5 people might have bodies but certainly not a bit of soul! :-D

  • My goodness, her voice is simply beautiful. Simply beautiful...

  • wow... make it 162,329... this is quite moving...

singing in the 70's and 80's and I never noticed her really beautiful voice.

no wonder she was Frank Sinatra's favorite singer, she is the best!

  • This is music.

  • i got tears in my eyes. she is a GODDESS. her voice is so beautiful!! and her expression...she is just amazing!

  • Every time I see another performance of Ella's that's new to me, it is clearly apparent that she had no parallel in the performance of the american songbook. She was such a treasure. Thanks for the posting.

  • She's the BOMB!!!!!

  • "Bo-ah-ah-ah-dy and soul" just love the way she sings that phrase!

  • dear god what a range

  • There's no better voice then hers...

  • I surprise very much my father, that he was an admirer of this music

  • Ohhh, by accident i found it again:-)))))))

    GREATTTTTTTTTT version!!!

  • Ella was such a class act. I had the distinct pleasure of seeing/hearing her back around 1980. She was with Oscar Peterson and Joe Pass. I can't even describe how the place was swinging that evening.

  • I'll gladly surrender myself to you.....

  • Ha ha..................... Yes woman sing

  • i'm in love.

  • This is one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite singers. Thanks so much!

  • I have no words. Im swooning in my office.

  • Ella é a melhor!!!!

  • @rafpach87 , ela é 10, mas prefiro NKC

  • @rafpach87 , veja The Very Thought of You com Ella e com o NKC, ambas são fantásticas, mas a versão do Nat King Cole é impressionante em todos os aspectos, arranjo, voz, contra-baixo, orquestra, ritmo...

  • what an epic voice...

  • A truly beautiful, heartfelt rendition. I can't imagine hearing "Body and Soul" sung with more feeling.

  • I believe she can feel what this song is about and interprets it fully.

Argaretbea was the lucky one to see Ella perform in person. OMG!

  • only lady day can make a song so good till very last note; my ears want more sugar!

  • Lady Day is Billie Holiday and she's The First Lady Of Song

  • I know not many people would say this about Ella, but I think this is one of those moments when she looks as lovely as she sounds...

  • i agree..she looks beautiful here.

  • @leomaruli i thought the same thing ;)

  • @leomaruli Hear hear

  • @leomaruli i knwo what you mean... she always was extremely sad about her figure and as we can see did not have a style master. but in this performance they made id great. she was smaller there and extraordinary styled. a great combination of beauty and class.and her beauty come out of her when she was performing on stage. THAT was her "field" of work. today a division of stylists would have looked over her but she dressed in a time where nobody looked at overweight people...sad...sad...sad

  • @leomaruli

    True beauty comes from within...

  • This is from the 1967 TV special

  • you know when she turns her head to the side, its ova!!!

I cant get enough of her!!!

  • My God, her emotional approach is quite unbelievable!

  • freakin sinatra ruins the beginning..with some mumbo jumbo b.s.

  • I saw Ella live, twice, at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester, England in the fifties. What a privilege.

  • ...and don't you for get it!

  • Queen Ella and Frank Sinatra, wow.

If Pops had shown up and blown his horn, I'd have thought that I'd died and gone to heaven.

  • Class act!

  • Antonio Aguiar

Espetacular, a rainha do Jazz em grande estilo!

  • beautiful. this kind of music just doesn't exist today.

  • Without a doubt....nobody sings like Ella! Thnks for sharing....She moves me to tears with her rendition of this song....I miss her....
