Very interesting study. Good idea to go to bed early although I don't know how many college students would really embrace that. Definitely some food for thought! Thanks!
I'll have to access this as just a coincidence in behavior and GPA, if you spend a large portion of your time in front of a terminal studying you tend to perform better, whereas if you are out exercising and neglecting your studies then your GPA suffers.
I get around 7 hours of sleep every night, I have studied a total of around 5 hours this entire year, my GPA is 3.715. I completely disagree that bad habits will lower people's GPA.
It depends what classes you are taking, but I am a freshman in high school in hard classes, and I study at least 3 hours every night. And after all that studying I still only have about a 3.2 GPA.
The key here is correlation - this study is one of (if not the) first to prove this link on a widespread level, giving specific data and numbers (i.e. GPA averages) rather than just anecdotal evidence.
Everything we do in life has an effect on a student's grades and G.P.A. If I were to exercise too much, or go to bed too early, wouldn't one also see a decrease in my G.P.A.?
I think that there is no reason to conduct a study when you know what the outcome will be.
yeah, i can relate to this.

more responsible people sleep more, take better care of their body, because they have a better idea of long term effects.
this is an economic correlation, not a statistic one.

High school isn't a good comparison. It's unimportant and obsolete once you're out
