I was destined for death and hell and by the laws of perfect holiness, I was unable to enter His kingdom. The cross is a symbol for the fate that I constructed by my own decisions, and I by all rights killed myself. But God so loved this wretched son of His that He got on my cross for me, took up my sins, and took them to my hell. Then he rose again 3 days later.
