Very nice seat... you rock a little too much but I find most people do that at first and grow out of it eventually. Really try and push your weight into your heels too. I didn't look up for my first canter lol

she did good for her first canter and looks to have a nice seat, only thing I noticed is she needs to work on keeping her heels down and instead of rocking with her upper body rock her hips

you have such a good seat!!! however, in my opinion, you should practice on not pumping so muchh...or maybe its just the camera that makes you look like ur pumping :/

God, walk to canter is particularly difficult, usually its easier to get a horse to go from trot to canter, but if that was her first time that's really good!

A little word of advice from some who has been riding half of their life, don't pump your hips in the saddle. However, it is sometimes necessary if the horse does not have a collected canter to stay on. I've been there and I understand. Don't get me wrong, you did a REALLY nice job for your first time! Be proud of it!

Thanks :) We had worked for months on balance and keeping feet and hands still. I had her riding with a halter to keep his tender mouth. He has a wonderful soft mouth, and I didn't want any chance of hurting him. He had just had a big spook about 30 minutes before this video, and she hung on. I thin k that gave her the confidence to just go ahead and try to keep him in a canter. She was so excited afterward!

Hi Jen! We miss you too, when are you coming to visit? Isn't this cool? She just got up the nerve and pushed him on into the canter and kept him going. She had cantered a few steps at a time before, but never for more than 3 or 4 steps before pulling him back. :)
