  • Interesting video, independence is definitly the best way forward

If Scotland remain in the union, they will just remain a county of Britain rather than a full country, independence is the best way

    Saor Alba!

  • Britain is a geographical term only

    Scotland for ever

  • excellent video, it's going on my favourites.

  • These are part of the reasons no-one wishes to associate with the modern political tag of British because of its Imperial, Fascist and colonial imperative, hence "Scottish not British". The Welsh have the most resounding claim to the hijacked title "British". I'm all for a Celtic Britain But NOT an English Scotland or and English Wales or an English Cornwall or and English Northern Ireland or and English Britain for that matter.

    Decentralise excessive governmental control.

  • Gaulish, Manx, Cornish, Cymraic (Welsh) = British , Pictish = Ancient British. These are all Brythonic Linguistic roots. Albanach (Scottish) = Irish + Pictish. Irish and Scottish Gaelic are Goidelic linguistic roots. Brythonic and Goidelic are the linguistic branches of Celtic. Anglo-Saxon-Jute (English) = Germanic Tribes, which is Teutonic and quite alien to these isles when the last ten thousand years are considered. As we all know today, politically "British" means English.
  • Oh wilsey, you blinkered unionist gimp, ever since the Anglo-Saxons landed and started fucking up Britain - you have planted billions of seeds of hatred which are now all pilling up on the english H.Q., The city of London in South Britain from all round the x-colonies. You reap what you sew,by fuck have you and your ancestors got some explaining to do. We know our history, you obviously don't. This video has nailed more than a few universal truths, why not listen to human wisdom not propaganda.

  • Per capita the rest of the UK would be a wealthier nation without Scotland, and I am sure London will remain as Europes very own New York, linked to Paris by high speed rail.

However for English people living in Scotland and the 750,000 or so Scots who make their living in England, home would suddenly be a foreign country.

  • what are you wittering on about? you really don't understand this independence thing do you? where did you pull the figure 750,000 from? england already is a foreign country! and bu the way, you live in europe and are a european!

  • You can google the figures, and the offial census shows around 890,000 Scots living in England or 2% of the population.

All Scottish Nationalism does is plant the seeds of hate, how long before we hear English jobs for English people or the same statement refereing to Scottish jobs.

If the Scots want to fundamentally change there relationship with England, they should also expect a fundemental change in attitude.

Sadly such is Human Nature and indeed nationalism.

  • why do you think the tories never got rid of such a subsidy junkie as scotland then? if it's such a constant drain on english resources? why has it never been dumped? the kindness of london's power brokers generous hearts? and i'm sure the dublin-belfast-edinburgh train tunnel/bridge line and the scotland- norway/scandinavia links will grow and flourish without the constant can't do attitude of old school british empire mentality keeping it down!

  • Thats funny because in a recent interview Alex Salmond said the 'Scots didn't mind Thatchers Economic Policies' and it's Thatcherism based on low taxes and low public spending that Southern Ireland has been using for the last couple of decades.

  • That's not what Salmond said - only illiterate Labour supporters would interpret his words in such a deceitful way.

He actually said that while Scots could live with Thatcher's economic policies (for all they didn't like them), they definately couldn't stomach her social policies at all.

  • Finally I suggest you look at future vehicles such as Honda FCX

The Honda FCX Clarity is a hydrogen fuel cell automobile manufactured by Honda. The design is based on the 2006 Honda FCX Concept.

Limited marketing of a fuel cell vehicle based on the concept model began in June 19, 2008 in United States and it will be introduced in Japan in November 2008.

Honda believes it could start mass producing vehicles based on the FCX concept by the year 2018

  • and what state will the uk be in by then? we won't even be able to afford them! urgent action is needed now to to address the decline! we've been sleepwalking into globalisation for too long! the union breaking up would start the ball rolling! can anyone seriously tell me that the last 30 years of tory policy have been aimed at the good of the many and not the just the greed of the few? globolisation started with the forming of UKPLC, and will end with it's demise!

  • If it's 15% of your GDP, and you still have budget shortfalls then the future is indeed bleak, as the oil is already declining.

As for oil prices they have plummetted recently and I somehow think we will be using cars in 2 years time.

Global Commercialism hasn't worked, well good luck with Scotland taking it's place in the world represented by Brussels and it's emerging Foreign and Security Policy.

Btw Economies are Global, live with it or live in poverty and trade by yourself.

  • I don't think the average family will be without a car in 2 years, although I do see the future being alternatives to oil. The UK now imports 40% of it's oil and it is predicted this will rise to 90% by 2020.

As for triabalism and nationalism, I have little time for it, although there are those who will revel in telling the English to go back to their country and those in England who would be happy to tell the Scots to go home, and these are the people nationalism panders to.

  • i don't think you really understand or grasp the scottish independence argument? it most certainly is not about telling the "english to go home"? it's about controlling and administering our own country! 10% of SNP members are english! london has had it's day! londoncentric policies run britian, but only the scots argue against it! the rest sit there and take it right up their arse!

  • I thought you were having a referendum in 2010.

A lot of English people support Scottish Independence, and to be honest the oil isn't really a factor for us, North Sea Oil accounts for less than 1.5% of GDP and less than 2% of taxes, it's becoming ever more expensive to extract and clean up costs may be substanstial. I predict within a generation cars will be running on alternatives to oil, you can see the beginings already.

    Still all the best.

  • 1.5% (UK) of GDP. AN INDEPENDENT SCOTLAND 15%OF OUR GDP. I PREDICT THE AVERAGE FAMILY IN THE UK WILL BE USING PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN 2 YEARS, AS IT WILL BE TOO EXPENSIVE TO OPERATE A CAR. BIG GLOBAL COMMERCIALISIM HAS NOT WORKED. TIME FOR SMALL IMAGINATIVE & PRO-ACTIVE ORGANIC GOVERMENT.
