So how do you know what each card is worth, and what psa whatever that means the card is. I have the very first original base set, with a mint charizard in slip never touched the holo, all the holos, including extra cards from then Warner bros "pokemons first movie", all in a folder in top nic with extras inc all trainers and energy cards etc, also got anbother folder with the 2nd set of pokemon cards that came right after base. Collecting up $ wondering sell seperately or the whole set?

These are the only true valuable Pokemon Cards because they where the first, get them now because Pokemon touched a lot of kids in their childhood and once these kids are grown as they should be they will want to get these cards to remember that. @bobmarly70 Both, you can find them on ebay already graded. You can send them in to PSA but you need to buy a membership first. Most brand new cards fall in the PSA 9 rank, PSA 10 is flawless wich includes factory flawless meaning card picture is perfectly centered, it has no printing errors and it has no scratches or marks. Not easy to get GEM MINT. Card picture is off center is the major culprit of PSA 9 cards.

@bertrandian if you look up "thick" 1st edition on ebay right now there's a seller who shows the difference between "thin" and "thick" 1st edition symbols, i think the "thick" ones were the very first printing of the 1st editions, so that might explain it.

All 1st ed. Base Set cards are Shadowless aside from Machamp which can have the Unlimited changes (they left the 1st ed. symbol on Machamp in order to help the 2-player starter deck continue to sell well).
