    Lion users:

    1. Go to Mac app store

    2. Re-download Mac OS X Lion

    3. Follow the Installer's instructions

    4. Let your Mac reboot then wait until Lion finishes up re-installing.

    5. Your Mac will restart into OS X Lion normally with all your data still available!

    Herpity Derpity.

  • I'm on snow leopard 10.6.3, did everything as said and it worked perfectly fine! :) thanks! Did not lose any files or app or wtv it is at all. It just repaired my disk.

  • damn... im not sure if i even have that cd anymore... is there a way to download it

  • @DavidJames96

I dont have my Mac OSX cd for my current OS either, since I got snow leopard for free from the genius bar when they were fixing something on it. Is there a way to burn a identical copy onto a dvd? Any tips would help :)

  • @TheCRONIKClan

Did this work for u? Did you have to rape him with a fork? Seriously though, I have tons of cracked apps from torrent downloads and would HATE to loose all of that hard work if they got erased.

  • @bassefa1984 External harddrive?

  • what if is in Leopard and not Lion?

  • hope this workes otherwise gunna search yo up irl:)

  • @byHooliganen hahahhahaahha xDD

  • Screw this. My next laptop will be a Windows machine.

  • Worked perfectly for me. But remember that when you get to the Windows install screen, FORMAT YOUR NEW PARTITION. Otherwise it won't work.

  • THe way to actually fix it is to open disk utility click your harddrive and erase free space it's guaranteed 100% to work BUT DON'T DO IT BECAUSE YOU WILL GET IMPACTION AND RUIN YOUR COMPUTER

  • @datafreak667 oh yes, real useful comment

  • Thanks for trying to help though

  • This didn't screw my computer in any way but it didn't fix boot camp problem.

  • So is this confirmed to work without reformatting the HDD? I've booted from the disc and accessed disk utility under the utility tab and tried repairing the drive then but it still didn't work.

  • question i have mac os lion will this downgrade to snow leopard ?

  • dude you are a genius man!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mine got partitioned after that :D

  • @TechAC7 sorry, that should have said Re-Install Mac OS X, mine took a good couple of hours, so I would suggest doing it when you don't need access to the computer for a while :)

  • @TechAC7 You need to select and then just click accept and continue and let it do it's thing :)

  • I know this is a pretty old video, but I just wanted to confirm that it worked for me running Lion :)

  • @MJErwin23 When I boot into the DVD it comes up with several options, and I'm running lion too. Did that happen to you and which one did you choose?

  • If you have lion, then it creates it's own recovery partition. Just follow the steps in the video but don't worry about putting a disc in.

  • I've already had done this 3 times and I still get the same error message.

  • I am on macbook pro and when i go onto Boot Camp Assistant ( Because i want sony vegas on my macbook pro). I get this message

"The disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved.

Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again."

Help me i dont know what to do. Thanks

  • WHAT HAPPENS IF IVE DOWNLOADED BLOODY LION FROM THE APP STORE? :S

  • @DavidJames96 Boot from Recovery HD at the selection screen

  • @HUDTESTER what do you mean by Recovery HD? I also am on lion and i downloaded from it from the app store.

  • what if we already fell into the trap that is OS X Lion, then what?

  • when i am in the window to divide the two it says i have -2147483648 help?

  • will you loose any files or anything on your computer?

  • Are you fucking SURE i wont lose my apps, If i do ill rape yiou with a fork

  • @TheCRONIKClan you dont lose files. ive had to do it before when my mac fucked up and it was all good. use the same concept for any problems you dont understand and cant get to go away. works every time.

  • @TheCRONIKClan If you do it correctly, you won't. Everything was in its place when I rebooted.

  • Are you complety sure i can keep all my apps i have a school mac and if i had to go to them to get my apps back they would bust my balls :( I wanna see a video of someone doing this.

  • if i do reinstall like this will i lose any files ?

  • it worked for me, thx for sharing m8!

  • @pitrofono disk mode? is it the reboot thingy and then u press option and choose the install disk?

  • TY IS WORK! AND I GOT SOME FILES BACK

  • I dont know what Im doing wrong I hold down the option button but nothing comes up???

  • Does not work for me...

  • Thanx man

  • try repairing the hard disk (you will need to boot off another device. This can be done by installing macosx on an external Hard Drive, booting off that and running disk repair in disk utility. Or you can boot from the install DVD as outlined above, and opening disk utility from the menu bar at the top)

This simple repair worked for me - there was a catalog error that was successfully fixed.

  • Omg same problem!!!

    @janikfischer

Does it mean that after I reintall Mac from the disc

N if I gt the same error message

Tht all I have to do is set partition to 15 or 16 gb n it will nt have the error???

  • @sg489 yea. deal with it^^

  • ''Don't blame me if something goes wrong, it's your own fault that you use my tutorial''. That's encouraging!

  • This works 100% thank you so much man, i really needed this. For evryone else dont worry about this it WILL NOT reinstall the operating system and you will loose no data. Just use the utility tool and repair your macintosh hd and you will be good to go!

  • thank you some much... and all of you with problems are retarded..

  • hey assbut shut up

  • Damn! I didnt work! And boot camp is still giving me that same fucking message! Is there any other way than waisting and hour of my life?

  • I do not know what I am doing wrong but I do as you say, and put in the Mac Os X install dick 1. and install it all over again But it does not fix my problem... Still I get the error: Some files can not be moved..... Got to back up my disc and then use Disc Utility or something. Do not what I can do? Am I doing something wrong here ??? Please help? :D Thanks.

  • u put the istall cd that came with you laptop/ or the cd you've bought yourself(the cd that is installed on the computer). Hold the "shut down button" in for some seconds until the computer shuts down. Then you turn it on while holding down the, alt key in. and press install mac osx. then it should work, others, try defraging the harddrive through an another mac.

  • Mac OS X install DICK 1? Disc 1, you mean?

  • @EargroveN dude u said dick

  • @EargroveN You need to fully reinstall with OSX. Then restore and try again. Worked perfect for me

  • @EargroveN You inserted the mac install dick?

  • @benlaneconnor ya i was wondering what the fuck he was saying

  • I have a Macbook Pro. My original OS disk was Leopard but I bought Snow Leopard later. Should I reinstall with Snow Leopard or Leopard?

  • Use the snow leopard cd.

  • Okay cool. Are my files all save or do I really need a TM backup?

  • Save your important files on an external harddrive just to be sure that you dont lose them.

  • I reinstalled Snow Leopard but still boot camp gives me the same error message as before. Do I now have to erase my HD or is there any other option left?

  • i have this problem on my leopard, not snow leopard:P, do you think this will work with my restore cd i got in the computer box?

  • yea, but use the leopard cd that came with your computer. the one that says like "install Mac OSX" or something on it. :-)

  • try to defrag the laptop, or take the harddrive out of the laptop, and try to defrag it through an another mac.

    should work.

  • Mac Os X install dick 1 and 2 is the cd`s that came whit my laptop. Is it the wrong cd`s? I do everything you say. and stil error comes up. But it is okey, you do not have to solwe my problem, it is okey :D It is not that important.

  • @JagHarEnFinne

uhmm. i'm a new mac user. how can i defrag my mac?

  • @renea099 You cannot Defrag Mac computers. They automatically defrag in ircc in the background. These steps worked for me. Try it.

  • This method worked for me! I put in the Snow Leopard CD, restarted my computer, held down option/alt and clicked on the Snow Leopard CD, installed it, and DONE. NONE (NADA, NOTHING) of my files/ apps, or even my background got deleted. After the re-installation, the bootcamp partitioned correctly, and now I happily have windows 7 on my mac.

You do NOT have to reformat your computer. The furthest thing you would ever have to do is re-install the OS, or defrag.

  • thats good :-) I hope you liked my tutorial :-)

  • My Macbook didn't come with snow leopard. I bought it after I bought my mac. Which disk should I use to restore my computer, The Snow Leopard Disk or the installation Disc that came with the machine?

  • I used my Snow Leopard CD that I also bought after I got my mac. it took me about an our to fix the system with The snow leopard cd, and I was able to fix the bootcamp error. I've heard some other people with the same error doing this by themself, and the made it as well. But this is how I did. And it worked. But, you can install The old version of Mac OSX Leopard, and then upgrade it again, it should probably work. But then you have to save all your files before you do it.
