I was there six rows from the front. What a voice, what a performance and for an outdoor concert what a sound! Thank you thank you for posting this. Watching it gives me goosebumps. You should have taped the entire show! :D
great great video. He's playing with Ben Keith here. Neil's longtime co-guitarist. he died just recently. Neil's live shows will never be quite the same without him
@yveslabrot yeh i same ..saw him 2008 ? 1st time...the critics/reviewers seemed to always describe his voice as 'reedy'.. Live I was blown away- what a barrel house rock vocalist he is .
'The Electric Band' does no justice to the Crazy Horse era stuff. Rick Rosas is just awful on the "Horse" material. Come on Neil make another record and do another tour with Crazy Horse. I never thought i would see the day when Neil would be charging the astonishing prices for tickets and the price on the Archives box set is just ridiculous.
Amazing quality of vid...you're one lucky guy dude!!!
Neil Young's style on stage evokes memories of the 60~70's years...when music was hypnotic...most of his peers seemed to have mellowed down so far as swaying on stage etc is concerned...but Neil Young certainly hasn't and that just completes it for the avid fan! \m/
I just wish you would've uploaded the entire vid for Cortez though... :(
i seen neil last year in malahide castle dublin was a terrific gig, would be going to see him in the point this year only for i'll be in slane for oasis which is unfortunate. Personally i think he'll outshine Springsteen at glastonbury and show everyone who the real boss is. His music is timeless whether its the grungy rock or acoustic folk he's absoloutely faultless, although i love springsteen, no one can out rock neil young
I would say that was the best live performance I have ever seen. He rocks as good as he ever has. If he plays anything like that set list with that passion at Glastonbury you are in for a treat. Do yourself a favour and get to the front. I have been a live music afficinado all my life. That just knocked Jeff Buckley 1996 and The Clash 1981 off their top postions. Hope I see something that good again one day. Maybe this is the year to go to Glastonbury.
Thanks for the reply yeh i think im gonna go see him when he plays glastonbury this year. They have some good bands booked already for glastonbury this year theyve got bruce springsteen on friday night, neil young on saturday night, blur on sunday night and cosby stills and nash so maybe there will be a cosby stills nash and young reunion. Theres also talk about fleetwood mac playing.

i was fighting back tears lol!
i was close enough to see the wrinkles on the back of his hands!
he really does cross the generational barrier, there were people my age (20) up to about my dad's age around where i was standing.
they don't make them like that anymore.
beccaischeeky 3 years ago
Nice comment.
I DID have tears in my eyes when he played this song in Sydney.
And Im proberly the age of your dad 45
I also noticed all the young folk at this "oldies concert".
Your right they dont make em like this guy.
Rock on you young'ens
