By no means a late application of reverse thrust, the CRJ-200 uses bleed air for reverse, why is anyone's guess, but squeeze the reverse levers and it takes them a while to unlock, if the engines are different ages, different times for them to unlock, best to blast the reverse in unison and not with one not ready yet.

Engines sounded out of sync for a bit.. "hand flying" the throttles I guess... I thought that they auto sync'd though?

Not sure of the place names, but it was a river approach, up the Hudson and a right turn across the top of Manhattan for an approach to Rwy 22
