As someone mentioned; Elric is indeed weak without Stormbringer, I think this showed when he tried to withdraw the sword from her body. I have been reading these for over 20 years and they still have twists and turns you don't expect long after the first time you read them. This was quite well made - much better than being taken to the Jackals they call professional film makers.
an elric movie should be 3+ hours long, extremely bloody, dark Hawkwind soundtrack, tripped out digital backgrounds, no name actors with talent, and have a morally ambiguous ending. Impossible to do in one movie. Sean Bean as count Smiorgan.

Personally I am glad Moorcocks writings seem to have slipped under the big screen radar because rest assured, hollywood would rape it.

In my opinion this video probably looks a lot better than any movie Hollywood would have made, if nothing else for the caring it takes to make a fan made clip with true actors.The way Hollywood seems to butcher novels for an easy buck frightens me as to what they would have done to Elric given the chance.No i think that nowadays the white wolf is far better off fighting the hordes of hell than being turned into fast food for the brain by some ignorant director.
As many have noted Elric was utterly miscast (miscasted?). But I guess the video was enjoyable, as I haven't seen any video of the Elric saga, although it is a great series.
Terrible acting. I just hope they make the Elric series into a movie as it is far more interesting and much more dark than the Lord Of The Rings saga. The sad thing is that if it does become a big budget movie, it won't have the darkness of the original material because it will be rated PG-13 as those movies make the most money. I would love to see Peter Jackson make this, he's good for the genre but probably will be tired of it after the Hobbit.

this book has been around for so long and they still haven't done it a movie. This example is yet another the reason I worry about any movie being made on this series. They will screw something major up like make Jude Law Elric, or make Stormbringer a katana. (Ps...Stormbringer would be the size of a Scottish Claymore with a black iron blade and pulsating runes, not a steel broadsword) This series is too dark for American film. The hero loses everything and it isn't touchy feelly nice.

This Elric seems more like the Kurgan from Highlander than anything from Moorcock's stories. Too buff, too gruff, and too "barbarian-voiced" for my tastes.

some details about the stormbringer its pure ebony with runes on it, and when the sword is drawn runes pulses until it sheds enough blood to satisfy itself, also the runes are red. and I agree that elric is not a mascular man, he is very weak in appearance. and storm bringer is a big sword, quite broad, not as thin as this one.
not having read the books, I found the golden compass movie superior to the LOTR and other similar projects, but then, Im hard to please. The idea that the same people might be involved in an Elric project pleases me immensely.
1) the swords (as there was many of them from many dimensions) do need to be black, also green armour with dragon helm, thin very gaunt figure of a man, now if thats cymoril as im guessing (i may be wrong) it is he should actually be woeful at her death not give thanks, also i think if you study the map it is loosely based on britain with his land being an island placed conveniently off the coast of a continent in a similar place as uk to europe and so a british voice would be better, >>>>

there is an official Elric movie project underway, but no details have surfaced yet except for the writers (the Weitz brothers) attached to the project. David Weitz did the Golden Compass... I dont know if that makes me dubious of not considering the terrible end product Golden Compass was compared to the books.
I do agree on Elric needing to be thinner. Remember he needed potions, prior to Stormbringer, to give him strength. Hilt, pommel and guard for Stormbringer look great. The blade need to be black with runes etched in it. That's how it's described in the books. Elric's armor resembles like Whelan's version.. looks good.

Wasn`t the original Elric lean and sickly?? This guy here looks like an athlete. I remember, in a Conan/Elric crossover comic book, Conan saying to him:"Your arms are so much thinner than mine, but we both have the same strength!!" That`s how he has to look for my oppinion. In the last books it seems that he was more fit, despite having some issues with loosing his strength, but mostly after some sorcerous battle. The last time I read about Elric using his drugs is in the second book, " The Sailor on the Seas of Fate". In "The Vanishing Tower" Elric battles without the aid of Stormbringer sometimes. I guess that we shall assume that he grew stronger.

The music score sounds excellent and we know were in for a visual treat by the way Cymorils Soul slides up Stormbringer and if you look closely at the mighty blade you can see some runes.
As a fan of the Elric books i think this movie looks really good. You cant judge the film by the trailer so lets not knock it too much until we see more.Elric looked muscular there because his black blade had fed him. I thought the voice was just right and how i imagined it.

Friend, unfortunately this one is a fake! The upcoming movie, as far as I know, hasn't got any sort of trailer yet. This one has existed for ages. But I don't doubt that the true trailer will be much longer. I'm sure they are working on the film as we speak.

Hmm...well, it was an interesting attempt, but I think the vid missed the mark.
This Elric seems more like the Kurgan from Highlander than anything from Moorcock's stories. Too buff, too gruff, and too "barbarian-voiced" for my tastes.
Each to their own, though.

some details about the stormbringer its pure ebony with runes on it, and when the sword is drawn runes pulses until it sheds enough blood to satisfy itself, also the runes are red. and I agree that elric is not a mascular man, he is very weak in appearance. and storm bringer is a big sword, quite broad, not as thin as this one.

not having read the books, I found the golden compass movie superior to the LOTR and other similar projects, but then, Im hard to please. The idea that the same people might be involved in an Elric project pleases me immensely.

1) the swords (as there was many of them from many dimensions) do need to be black, also green armour with dragon helm, thin very gaunt figure of a man, now if thats cymoril as im guessing (i may be wrong) it is he should actually be woeful at her death not give thanks, also i think if you study the map it is loosely based on britain with his land being an island placed conveniently off the coast of a continent in a similar place as uk to europe and so a british voice would be better, >>>>

there is an official Elric movie project underway, but no details have surfaced yet except for the writers (the Weitz brothers) attached to the project. David Weitz did the Golden Compass... I dont know if that makes me dubious of not considering the terrible end product Golden Compass was compared to the books.

I do agree on Elric needing to be thinner. Remember he needed potions, prior to Stormbringer, to give him strength. Hilt, pommel and guard for Stormbringer look great. The blade need to be black with runes etched in it. That's how it's described in the books. Elric's armor resembles like Whelan's version.. looks good.

You can't do this to The Elric mythology it's a grave injustice.
The sword is just ridiculous looks straight off the shelf of the Franklin mint LOL.
The rune blade sword's are characters in the story not a prop.
This actor and the script does the story no justice either most of the time Elric was despairing over the cursed existence that he chose to pursue of his own volition.
If this is released I wouldn't waste my coin to see it

i pop by this one every now and then. not for the vid, but the responses of some who think this is real. it's a fan film people. you don't have to worry about this being anything else. the real movie is not even in production, or even a script. so chill and enjoy. all in all it's not that bad . for a fan film.

Wasn`t the original Elric lean and sickly?? This guy here looks like an athlete. I remember, in a Conan/Elric crossover comic book, Conan saying to him:"Your arms are so much thinner than mine, but we both have the same strength!!" That`s how he has to look for my oppinion. His physical powers are only "borrowed" from Stormbringer...and his drugs!!

In the last books it seems that he was more fit, despite having some issues with loosing his strength, but mostly after some sorcerous battle. The last time I read about Elric using his drugs is in the second book, " The Sailor on the Seas of Fate". In "The Vanishing Tower" Elric battles without the aid of Stormbringer sometimes. I guess that we shall assume that he grew stronger.

The actress playing Cymoril is Catherine Zeta Jones.
The music score sounds excellent and we know were in for a visual treat by the way Cymorils Soul slides up Stormbringer and if you look closely at the mighty blade you can see some runes.
I AM SO EXCITED about this long overdue film !

As a fan of the Elric books i think this movie looks really good. You cant judge the film by the trailer so lets not knock it too much until we see more.Elric looked muscular there because his black blade had fed him. I thought the voice was just right and how i imagined it.
Just cant wait to see it at the cinema!!!
It would be neat if Moorcock himself made an appearance in the movie like Stan Lee does with the Marvel films.

It's a fair attempt at a fan made trailer, but so many things are wrong. Elric is like a muscle bound Conan, when he is described as weak and sickly. Stormbringer? Well I'm pretty sure it was a BLACK sword. Anyway, it is a good attempt from fans and I am impressed with that, but this is no way the Elric movie trailer. They won't have a trailer for a fair few months from now.

Beginning to think i am the only one who thought this actor made a good Elric. and Catherine Zeta Jones looked good as Cymoril!
If i had one complaint (dont want to sound picky) the sword could have been longer and broader.

Friend, unfortunately this one is a fake! The upcoming movie, as far as I know, hasn't got any sort of trailer yet. This one has existed for ages. But I don't doubt that the true trailer will be much longer. I'm sure they are working on the film as we speak.

Just decided to see this traier to the new Elric movie again and its even better second time around. Does anyone know who directed this or whether it won any awards?
If it is out on dvd yet i would love to have Michael Moorcock sign it but he is probably busy writing the sequel to this.
Moorcock must be really modest because there is no mention of this film on his website.
Hope this makes the big screen in the UK soon as i am re reading the books .

This actor sounds classically trained and able to easily to adapt to high Melnibonean speech.
A lick of black paint on the sword and you have the complete package.
I wonder if Michael Moorcock wrote the script for this version?

I grew up reading Elric and still love the character dearly.
I love this portrayal of him. Who is the actor? He personifies Elric in every way.
Even his voice and accent is how i imagined Elric would sound.
The most startling thing is how closely the sword Stormbringer resembles the sword depicted in the Moorcock books.
Michael Moorcock must be pretty pleased with this rendition of his beloved Elric!
I hope they choose to use the same actor for a new Elric film(mainly for his voice) !

It is really sad that they got sooooo much wrong in this. Elric's voice is supposed to be cultured, a scholar's voice. Stormbringer is a black runesword, if that is Cymoril, just fucking ugh. Being a movie, they can't get everything right, but Elric is supposed to be the exact antithesis of Conan. I guess I'll just have to be happy reading the books, though a movie done right would be cool beyond words, and certainly beyond a comment on frickin Youtube.
