  • 3:16 - I love this game

  • FPS lost the bit of art they used to have, now it's just GRAPHICS hurr durr shoot what's move Herp derp.

Who remembers Unreal, Deus Ex, System Shock...

  • I like it when it switches from stressy music and then to a calm music. When it begins it sounds like someone or you say, phew.

  • This is soo awesome. Unreal is the best sci fi fps i've ever played. The skaarj looks so badass, i've begun to draw then since i first time i play this game. I was 5 when i played this game and now im 15, i draw much better now as you can imagine.

  • 2:35 blod pressure up by 80%. :-))))))))))))

  • 1998 -- Survive in an unknown world, explore ancient temples and wade through peculiar alien wildlife.

2008 -- LIKE, YOU KILL PEOPLE AND SHIT, BRO

    Seriously, WTF happened?

  • @TheOtherLioyd Gaming through the years

  • @TheOtherLioyd They "Expanded to other audiences" AKA Casualized the shit out of everything for profit.

I think its the reason communities for older games like UT99 and its kin still live today, and in some cases are still getting mods for them.

Damn... Nostalgia loves to just scare you.

  • If only I could have sex with this game to show it my love.

  • This is the soundtrack of my life.

  • @Starcrow999 Amen!

  • I'm in love with 4:34

  • brings back so many memories :)

  • A great, long, atmospheric,"hard" game. Love it

  • 2:46 = Rave time.

  • Outdoors never felt so good in any other FPS game, or I should boost my knowledge a fair bit. And those Skaarj guys/Mercenaries you've met through several parts of the game. I remember my childhood when I was like "OMFG OMFG guys GTFO those crates they give u cover so I cant hit you". As an almost mature gamer, I can say that's an example of some incredible AI, not to mention this game is only 4 years younger than me, if we had to compare year of my birth/year of the game's release.

  • Then I lost the game files and stuff. After many years, I suddenly remembered the glorious melody of Rrajigar Mines. Then I hunted for several months for the game. Once I played it the 1st time after many years, I was as stunned as before. Graphics were definitely more-than-enough to show the techno-gothic climate of its setting, and music simply kicked butt. Not to mention the feeling you left the Vortex Rikers ship, to find yourself in an ENVIROMENT. Sun, animals and stuff!

  • At the moment, I'm a 17 year old gamer "I think I can call myself one". Most of you guys would think I'd rather be spoiled by graphics and stuff, but I think I'm not. Excluding the gameplay, which in Unreal's case is great, due to many innovations and weapons that no one should forget, I pay close attention to music. Ambient soundtrack of the game has won my heart. First and only time (excluding now) I played the game I was like 8-9 year old (omfg gore and stuff).

  • Unreal is over 10 years old and still I cannot forget the music!

  • 2:40 ish shit goes down.

  • Wait a minute. I was playing Unreal earlier today, enjoying this same track. But it was different. This video seems to be missing some of the really small, subtle elements of the in-game music.

  • This brings me back. It's one of my favorite Unreal tracks!

After hearing this, I have to find my copy and save some Nali.

  • @SesakaGenX i feel you, man

  • Great Music, Great Game

  • My favorite part of this song and level is the Skaarj ambush part sounds great !!! :)

    Unreal 4 Ever 2:32

  • My favorite part of this song and level is the Skaarj ambush part sounds great !!! :)

    Unreal 4 Ever

  • it squeezes brain

    o.0

    fantastic

  • best video game music ever!!

  • classic

  • I swear everytime I hear this song I feel like I've heard it in Deus ex the combat part of the song. but then I think I must be crazy. I know its the same guy that did both.

  • @2HornDogs The main reasons are: Deus Ex has Unreal Engine, Unreal Engine uses .ogg music files, both are kinda sci-fi videogames.

  • @JagoTFC Unreal and Deus Ex, actually use XM and S3M music files, made in mod plug tracker.

  • One of my fav tracks of all time. I wonder how these tracks were created back then and on what synth!...anyone knows?

  • I like this track, but the mood is a little sad...at least until 2:35.

  • So sad to see what direction they took the Unreal series in after this and UT99. Unreal Championship had some promising promotional screens, but that just turned into a port of UT2k3 for some reason. UCII had the correct style, but it just didn't have the right gameplay. Now their idea of "cool" is just these neanderthals battling eachother in arenas decorated by gritty, dark and brown textures. It's so uneasy for the eyes. Literally. Same goes for Gears in a sense. I don't like it one bit.

  • @egretdingo

I also enjoyed the classic and colorful style of the first Unreal games, though i also loved the cartoony/realistic look of UT2004.

  • @Catmangamer I'm with you on UT2k4. That was not bad at all. In hindsight, I did think the gameplay in UCII was very cool, just not very "Unreal".

  • @egretdingo

Yeah, im still sorta waiting for Epic to drop all of the tournament stuff and go back to the atmospheric singleplayer roots of the original. Unreal 2 was really good (played it to death on xbox in co-op mode) but it was like seven years ago that game was released, so epic should make like an Unreal 3, with John Dalton as the playable character perhaps!

  • @Catmangamer Except that Unreal 2 felt nothing like the original. In all honesty, Unreal 2 should have been about the first person, the prisoner. Unreal 2, as a shooter, is okay, but it went to far away from it's roots. Unreal is meant to be you alone, on an alien planet, without any humans anywhere. Except for dead ones.

  • @CmdrJSKFox

I agree, the atmosphere was fantastic in the first Unreal! I really hope Epic takes the series back to its former glory, i really miss all the ambient wonder.

  • Im far from a techno music fan, but damn, the unreal soundtrack is A-OK in my book! Its just... So fitting to the goings on in the game, and set the atmosphere perfectly.

  • i finally managed to finish this game a year ago.

the music and atmosphere totally blew me away even though the game is 12 years old.

  • 2:35

scared the shit outta me when i was 7 playing through the basement level...

  • Does anyone know where you can buy this CD? I already looked on Amazon, but it's not there : (

Lovely music, by the way! reminds me of Tangerine Dream. Thanx for uploading!!!

  • You very rarely heard when it jumped to the action section: Too much gun fire when the Skaarja? appeared.

The Joy of the XM/S3M module, it'd dive in and out of sections without people hearing any pop or crackle.

Thanks for putting the OST up in a more modern format.

  • 4:50 thats the song what iv searched like years,

i realy thought no one ever uploaded that part,

but i just never listened this track complete...

damn it, and i was nearly gonna upload it again for nothing. such a wonderful and haunting song.

  • Yeah, it really is lovely. by the way, would you happen to know where I could buy this CD? It's not on Amazon, i'm afraid : (

  • I love the segmen that kicks in when the Skaarj Scout attacks! It makes a pretty good 'escape' theme

  • nice music, the first great music in this game. Dark arena is also a fantastic music

  • Indeed... They are both great tracks! :)

  • @aninhaslindas Dark Arena's track is actually called Nali Chant. And it pretty much gives the feeling of a monastery, doesn't it? Especially in the beginning, when you suddently hear a group of Nali suddently go "Hummmmmmm..." you can almost see the invisible ali sitting at a random spot hovering in the air (like the Nali in Bluff Eversmoking) doing a full lotus.

  • Actually, it's called Shared Dig because it was in the shareware version LOL

  • @aninhaslindas Did you heard about Surfacing and Nightvision songs?

    they are also great

  • the greatest of the entire ost

  • Yeah! It's one of my favourites too! ^^
