  • Kinda wish I'd gone with one of these over what I did get. But to be fair, this was very new when I got what I did get. I didn't know what to expect from this tablet.

  • Diffidently deciding on this over an ipad. The Cintiq just cost to much, and this works just as well, and is more portable. Thank you for making the video! ^^

  • Is this still the best option out there?

  • Where can you buy an ntrig pen? I can't seem to find a place that sells them

  • @MusicForMeHere from lenovo, hp and htc. Or at your local sprint or ATT store.

  • Hi,

First thanks a lot for the review,

Compared to Wacom intuos/Cintiq tablet do you recommend this product for serious artists?

I really like the idea of a portable drawing tablet.

also, is there any delay between the movement of your hand and the rendering of the lines? I couldn't tell from the video

    thanks

    Sam

  • same question as 1c72: when drawing with he stylus, can you rest your hand on the screen (as you can with a graphical tablet, for instance, by turning "touch input" off)? and also, is the stylus itself pressure sensitive? also, nice artwork!

  • Wow, nice drawings, nice tablet or whatever that is and, well, nice video

Please, would you send me a PM for me with the link from where you bought it? there are lots of versions of this tablet and since i dont know about it i would like to have yours, since you look glad with it :P

thanks beforehand! like + fav :3

  • do you have to download the app for drawing on it if so,: whats is it called..? also your fantastic at drawing

  • @sims376 sketchbook pro, yes you would need to buy the app. Thank you :D

  • This video just sold a ThinkPad Tablet. Exactly what I've been looking for. What I had hopped the Xyboard would be, but wasn't.

  • @ChipLinck ordered one too

  • How did you get Sketchbook Pro to load? Your video sold me on the Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet, but every time I try to purchase and download the program it gives me a processing error. Any ideas? In the mean time I can use Quill (from the official Lenovo site), but it's not the same.

  • What do you think is better for sketching: Asus eee Note or this one? Also could ThinkPad work like graphic tablet for PC?

  • Hi, when you are drawing, can you place your hands/palm on the screen at the same time? Would it interfere? Also, is the stylus pressure sensitive?

  • @1c72 Well, if you wear gloves that should be no problem. It won't pick up the heat of your skin.

  • can u colour the drawings or u can only draw ???

  • @elianatora you can color them no problem

  • @LatinVixen I have two questions, first compared to all other tablets is the Think Pad the best for sketching/ drawing on the go and second dose the Think Pad over heat easily same as the Motion LS 800? I'm not a tablet user so I am not familiar with how long they can operate without building heat.

  • @Natheren The thinkpad doesn't get hot at all.

  • In your opinion, which one felt more responsive for sketching: Lenovo Thinkpad or the HP Slate 500? I'm thinking of buying between these two tablets. Thanks in advance.

  • why my pen's pressure sensitive is no working in sketchbook pro?? but it can be work in other apps. do i need to setup the sketchbook?? pls tell me. thx

  • @kevin911108 it's part of a setting in sketchbook pro, just make sure you check it so it works.

  • Holy crap! I need one of those! *-*

  • Where did you get this at I want one ^_^ nice art by the way :D

  • Would totally get this if it was more affordable :( its my ideal tablet

  • @LatinVixen are you using this Tablet as your primary on the go sketch pad or some other device?

  • @madheavy I was when I had it, I no longer own it.

  • How would you say this compares to drawing on the iPad? Does it operate slower, or is the difference negligible?

  • @Zeatharkivus works much better

  • @LatinVixen: can you show cursive handwriting as well?

  • Thanks for posting and giving details. I've been trying to find info about this tablet and how well sketchbook pro works with it everywhere.

  • Probably the wrong place to ask this, but would you suggest getting one of those ThinkPad laptops which seem to be a lot cheaper compared to this? (for drawing of course....)

Or perhaps a cheaper alternative pad which can still do drawing? :/

  • beautiful id love to buy this tablet.. some day : P

  • lenovo should pay you commission...

  • is it worth buying it wit lenovos pen or should i buy a different pen?

  • DX OMMFG!!!!!!! WANT.

  • Okay, I now know the answer. I guess the real question is, I bought an iPad 2 this year and my favorite thing to use it for is mobile sketching. My biggest issue with the iPad for sketching is lack of precision. This thing looks precise AND it has pressure sensitivity, it sounds unreal and I almost can't imagine it. Should I sell my iPad for this? Do you enjoy sketching on this tablet more? I really want to know, I'm excited just thinking about this thing because it looks like it's so much more.

  • @myotheraccountlol for sketching, there is no question that the thinkpad tablet is much much better than an ipad. That's cos it's using proper wacom tech for the pen which is a completely separate system to the capacitive multitouch system. In contrast the iPad only has multitouch but cannot detect wacom pens. That's the key. So if you want it for sketching there is no question that you should sell your ipad!

  • @viji you are actually wrong, this isn't wacom tech at all it is Ntrig which has pressure as well. The 2 main digitizing companies are wacom and Ntrig. Ntrig has been hitting the market a bit harder at the moment adding it to more tablets. Both the flyer and this one have the Ntrig tech for their pen which works amazing on android.

  • @LatinVixen ah, oops. Still, replace the word Wacom with the word Ntrig in my reply and my main point still stands.

I assumed it was Wacom since they seem to have a patent stranglehold on digitizer tech and an effective monopoly on tablets without batteries. Seems it's not as tight as I'd thought.

  • @vijil this one does have a battery. Just one AAAA battery. Wacom and ntrig are still pretty different when put side by side and feel different too.

  • @LatinVixen ah, ok. For some reason I'd thought this pen didn't have a battery. It really sucks that wacom have the market so stitched up with patents that it's impossible to really compete on the same level. It's a shame really - imagine how much more advanced digitizer tech would be if not for those patents!

How do you find the pen compared to the feel of a wacom? Personally I use a 21UX cintiq and find it pretty average.

  • @vijil I use a cintiq as my main art tablet and I love it. Once I figured out how I wanted to calibrate it I wouldn't really compare it to anything else, and I have the smaller 12 inch one. Ntrig works great on thinkpad, had a few differences than the wacom tech. One being the battery and the pen itself is weighted differently, the nib is different and it does not get I would say as many levels of pressure as wacom does. The thinkpad as a sketching device is fantastic overall, highly recommend.

  • @vijil the biggest downfall that can't be helped is the lack of eraser up top. Wacom owns that patent so ntrig cannot add that to their pens :( sorta blah on that bit of news.

  • Thanks for posting this! Until now the only sketchbook/thinkpad examples were from the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet launch in New York City. I'm not sure where they got the Sketchbook demo guy, it looked like he had never used sketchbook before that day. how does the pressure sensitivity work on color fade and brush size?

  • I have only one question. Where did you get this? The pressure sensitivity and the presence of the sketchbook app really make me want this thing. I was considering getting a tablet for a while to do art on, and this one looks good.

  • Nice video! You should check out Samsung Series 7 slate (Windows 7 tablet), it comes with Wacom pen.

  • As usual you get the nicest toys. Thanks for sharing!

  • Pressure sensitive is the key! Nice :)

  • very nice went with a honeycomb tab. once mine cannot be pushed to it's limies i might get one. maybe a asus transformer. btw you make some good art work.

  • Nice tablet.

How different would you say drawing on this is from the LS800? Only item I could compare it to at the moment.

  • @KonnorWolf A bit different seeing as one is a full blown windows computer and this one is running android. But if were were to compare apps per say they work very similar on both machines. One is wacom though and the other is ntrig when it comes to active digitizers. When it comes to sketching ntrig is very similar at least in android standpoint to wacom. Not the same but not very far behind from what I can tell.

  • @LatinVixen

I completely forgot to say Sketchbook Pro, which has been the best sketch based program I could find. Nothing free came close to it. It looks like this would work nicely for those who want this style of tablet with more drawing functionality. If only the Touchpad had pressure sensitivity.

  • @KonnorWolf you grabbed a touchpad too? So did I went the price dropped :). I love the little tablet, really snappy for what it can do. No pressure on that one as it is just capacitive.

  • @LatinVixen

I was able to get in an order from Office Depot for the 32GB at the lower price. I like it so far, WebOS is nice. I set the CPU to 1.5GHZ, fast, running flash is nice, ability to play Netflix could be great at some point. I caught myself trying to flick the pages off the screen on my iPhone. :) If it had Sketchbook Pro and pressure, there could be double the love for the touchpad. :D So many gadgets to try at any given time.

  • @KonnorWolf oh nice, I got the 16 gb one and running it faster like you are. I love the OS right now.

  • @LatinVixen

I hope there is a way for WebOs to live on.

Could take it to 1.9GHz, I rather not, since the CPU is a 1.5GHz down clocked to 1.2GHz I feel safe at 1.5GHz which is fast enough right now.

  • @KonnorWolf same here, the OS itself is really nice. Too bad the lack of apps is pretty obvious in their app store. I think I will be fine with the 1.5ghz speed atm, seems fast enough for all I do.

  • @LatinVixen

Even though I do not use a ton of apps I would like to see Netflix, Sketchbook, Yahoo Messenger (The native chat program is a little wonky, I may just have to get used to it a bit more.) IRC and a few others. For speeds I never saw a reason to push the limits too far if it is not needed.

  • @KonnorWolf I am pretty happy hulu works on it, great for when I work :D

  • @LatinVixen

Just reminded me to test that out again, was waiting for the patch to show up on my preware list. :D

  • I wish I could make sketches that magnificant that fast >.< (I know the video is slightly sped up) If not for the nice reviews, I would sub to you for the art alone XD If I do get a tablet though, I think I would get this one.
