  • Does anyone notice a corelation between the increase of the love for money in this world, and the loss of great music like this?

  • why the 19 dislikes ???? why can't people just be nice..sigh !!!!

  • I have always really liked this song from the first time I heard it back in the mid 1960's. Of course like many others I absolutely love Judith's voice. Its so clear, strong and she really carries the song. Its just to bad we are all getting old.

  • MsCrispybacon,I agree with you 100%..book me and my wife two tickets for the night!!

  • Watching the Sydney Christmas show tonight, Judith Durham from the Seekers sang that lovely song tonight, great Australian talent here, it has bought back so many memories..

  • Just watched Judith Durham perform this for Carols at the Domain. A true living legend!

  • I suppose it's a bit sad but it was the first record I bought......could have been the Stones or the Beatles or......but no it was this - great to see and hear it again...

  • this is my favourite seekers song of all time, watch judith sing it on puffing billy with the children joining in not knowing in their innocence that they are singing with a WORLD SUPERSTAR, fabulous judith.xxx

  • I saw Judith in concert a few years ago, she was incredible. Sounded just the same as i remember when i was 6yrs old ...meeting her after was just fab. she gave me a lovely hug, such a sweet person. Amazing to think she was born with a lung deformity, it certainly didn't affect her ability to sing as she does. She's a legend!! x

  • they sing beautifully together. I was going to say they are the Peter, Paul and Mary of Australia--but that would just be the mold--the Seekers is a folk essence to what they sing and yet they make it their own.

  • We played this at my sisters funeral yesterday 7/12/11. My sister was always singing this song from a young child right up till she died aged only 50. So this song holds a special pace in my heart.

  • This song takes me back to high school mid 1960's these kids have the best singing voices ever..... Judith is fansastic......thank you.....

  • i would love to add a comment to this beautiful song and of course to the gorgeous judith durham, but folks you have already said all there is to say, tears are mingling with the ink, god bless xxx

  • I love it :) my mam used to sing this to me when I was little to put me to sleep

  • Wow! I've just replayed that 5 times! I'd forgotten how beautiful that song was! I may even add it to my own set lists!

  • My mum used to sing this to me as a lullaby. It never made me sleep though, I'd end up singing along and sleep was long forgotten.

  • so darn sweet I'm in tears!! :( innocent and gorgeous!! why can't music be this sweet now??

  • just timeless

  • This beautiful song brings back so many memories. I was about 12 years old when this song was popular. It reminds me of my sweet cat "Peanut Butter" who died around that time. I miss you, P.B., and this song will always keep you in my heart forever.

  • Magical!! I was in elementary school then.

  • i define myself by knowing what others don't

  • i can't find a single flaw in her how did I miss this

  • This is my 10 year old daughter's favourite song for me to sing to her when I tuck her in. I'm 45 and my Mom used to sing this song as well as "The Pony Man" by Gordon Lightfoot when she tucked me in. I think it's great that these classic songs are enjoyed by our children today.

  • seems like only yesterday listening to these wonderful songs as a 9yr old kid what a wonderful voice judith durham had xfactor singers not in the 123

  • way before my time but i love it......unique voices and sound....thanks for the upload....

  • Marvelous group, and not the least bit dated after all these years.

  • Guess this has a worldwide audience but wouldn't it be wonderful for all of us who remember this song and similar ones of that decade to have a live concert featuring all the songs to transport us back - if only for a few hours. I will leave you with that thought.

  • @MsCrispybacon You see, many come back here every night to see and listen and take a little trip back. These videos are their time machine. We can loose a lot of things in life but our good memories we keep for ever.

  • judith durham must have had one of the greatest voices of all time,TRULY FABULOUS,thanks judith, will never forget you, loved you then love you now xxx.

  • @MsCrispybacon

this is so good to hear takes me back 40+ years just so good

  • @MsCrispybacon I agree. I would love to be transported back to the time I remember being in love with Judith and captured by the Seekers songs. It was a special time for me - I was impressionable, idealistic, full of hope, idealism and ambition. Time has altered some of those ideals - not to say any are diminished - just my realization of my ability to achieve some of them... But I still dream - largely based on the thoughts generated by those lyrics so long ago. Thanks Proculled

  • Brings back so many memories, oh for childhood innoscense

  • Brings back so many memories, oh for childhood innocense

  • ed stewart sunday mornings memories

  • This song has been one I have always remembered as my granddad used to sing to me when I was little and now I have a little boy who is 9 weeks old who I sing it to love you pops will never forget you xxx

  • I loved the Seekers and still do, but it was tough on Judith Durham, a highly accomplished musician and a gifted jazz singer, always to be stuck with simple and undemanding songs. It's like asking a Formula 1 driver to spend his life as a driving instructor. And she got lumbered with this image of wholesome purity. Hardly suprising she felt the need to move on.

  • her voice floats in he air

  • im watchin this in 2011

  • Judith brilliant athol great the other 2 what were their names???

  • @magottyk Left to right: Keith Potger, Bruce Woodley, Judith Durham, Athol Guy.

  • @magottyk

actually Bruce wrote many of the songs including one with Paul Simon "red rubber ball" which the Crykle took to #1

Keith was the founding member of "The New Seekers"

  • @radamspse

I really like Bruce Woodley's solo number - Angeline is always Friday. There;s a very nice video to accompany it as well.

  • Such a lovely harmony to her voice..such a wonderful singer!!!

  • Brillaint the Banjo makes this 100%

  • What a beautiful voice. I remember it from my child hood.

  • Lovely song and a beautiful woman.

  • Great! I love the New/Seekers! Their songs have stuck in my head for decades, and not all songs do that!

  • Beautiful song, I can never listen to it without tears of both joy and sadness; the Seekers were my dad's favourite group and my sisters and I always cry when we hear this, at it reminds us of him and that he's gone. We were blessed to have the mum and dad that we had, we will love them always. Thanks for posting. x

  • My daughter who is two loves this song i did too as a child thanks for posting it.

  • I'm hearing more of this now than I heard at the time. It's all brilliant.

  • This song brings me to my knees...somehow I had forgotten this song, but remember I used to sing this song to cheer myself up when my father would beat my mom up.

    Thanks for the memories....

    LoveBridgette

    xooxoxo

  • @bushbaby001 I'm so sorry. This brings some of my earliest memories from the sixties. Just timeless. Take care.

  • It's Bridget Jones...before she took up acting...fabulous group.

  • Like most of the other respondents- this brings back fantastic memories from my childhood. Judith Durham had the most beautiful voice! She could bring magic to any song!

  • Like? Well, ok, even if it is an understatement for this wonderful song. I only pushed the like button only because there wasn't a LOVE IT!!!!!!! button. :)

  • it's so easy to forget the beauty of these songs

  • my childhood memories in primary school, reminds me of my beloved late papa...i miss u a lot papa... :(

  • reminds me of my early days in primary school and my beloved late papa who left us in June 2000...i still miss him a lot... :(

  • Is anyone going to tell me that this kind of music isn't as good as rap?

  • @BobbyDelRiv No.

  • @gupsnot We can bring back decent music, let's all get together and do it.

  • @BobbyDelRiv Its being done daily here on You tube

  • @1canyonguy Yes. It is.

  • Can't this kind of music be played on the radio again?

  • as a punk have to say they were a great outfit and she's some voice.up there with mamas and papas and the johnsons folk wise

  • I'm so glad I was 5 years old in 1968 and not 5 years old now. Where did it all go wrong?

  • @mistydog4 I don't know. But I quite like that things went wrong. It gives me a chance to reminisce and remember when music was amazing.

  • I cannot believe there is 18 dislikes. What is there not to like I ask you???

  • Who could sing this easy listening song any better than Judith!!!

  • Whenever I go onto youtube, I always spend hours collecting memory shunters like this. Good stuff.

  • same too @ Molliful !

  • I used to sing this to my son when he were a child. My mum used to sing this to me and my brothers when we were kids. I still fancy Judith too, My name is Zoran. so I am not afraid of being outed on this. How about it Judy ?

  • this was the first single ibought for my mum sadly no longer with us

  • Seeker rifle

  • I an 47 years old and still love this song.

  • the sexirst voice ever

  • Sitting here with a grin so wide I could eat toast sideways. I loved their songs as a child in the 60s but never knew they were all by The Seekers. Puff The Magic Dragon, Morningtown Ride, Georgy Girl, World of Our Own etc. Imagine my joy when my 11 year old daughter started playing this on her flute as they had been learning it at school. Being a dad, or a big kid, just doesn't get better. Going to listen to The Seekers well into the early hours.

  • This song bring tears to my eyes every time.... I tried to sing it to my grand-children in Wellington. Thank you Judith and the boys. You will never be forgotten.

  • Great memories of the 1960's - Sunday lunch on the go as this was playing on Family Favorites. Mum & Dad now sadly gone, but this will live with me forever.

  • I may well have this played at my funeral - sigh!

  • Happy Birthday to my favorite female vocalist.

  • hAPPY bIRTHDAY.

  • It's amazing how this 43 year old song is so much more meaningful than everything modern artists can put out. A good old classic :).

  • one of my favourite songs..we sung it over and over. Judith has a beautiful voice !!!

  • I remember singin this on my way to a red cross camp as a 7 year old...

  • This is my grandsons (2 years old) favorite song. He sings along with Judith. .Me I was in love with Judith forever. A beautiful song and a beautiful woman.

  • 1976 fist week at School and my teacher(who sang folk songs) taught us this song

  • Wow, this is nice. First time to see the band and its members performing the song. I recall listening to this tune in pre-school. Teachers would play it on a sturdy portable radio cassette recorder (hi tech stuff back in 90's) when it was nap time :).

  • Judith had a voice like a bell

  • Malvina Reynolds rocks forever.

  • Geez what a voice! WOW

  • Sing it again, mommy.... oh..er...sorry.... I get carried away.... just love this lady.... wish she were my... uh... never mind...

  • Sang this to my daughter and son as they were growing up in England 52 years ago. Now of course I sing it to my grandchildren, together with Puff the Magic Dragon, except now that they are 3 and 5, they realize I dont have the best voice so they only allow me to sing a verse and then beg me to stop ;-(

  • @etransform Sorry to intrude but I'm on a sentimental bender and can't believe the common experiences that people share as far apart as England and Canada. I've sung Morningtown as a lullaby to my daughter and granddaughters and made both laugh outrageously trying to sing Puff out of tune. I hope they remember one day and best to you stranger.

  • Sang this to my daughter and son as they were growing up in England 56 years ago. Now of course I sing it to my grandchildren, together with Puff the Magic Dragon, except now that they are 3 and 5, they realize I dont have the best voice so they only allow me to sing a verse and then beg me to stop ;-(

  • I bought a Seeker's album for Georgy Girl when I was about 14 and Morning Town was one of the tracks. I sang it (off key) to my daughter as a lullaby, she sings it as a lullaby to my granddaughters. Guess that's how lovely traditions get started.

  • Just walked half the mornington track last weekend. It's so abandoned.

  • Thanx !!! ....

  • This girl has a voice like a bell !

  • Thumbs up if you searched this video after watching Ashen's vid!

  • Very under appreciated then and now, except for videos like this, forgotten. I wish more folks saw this and so many others. Thanks to all posters of the tunes they luv.

  • I thought this song was actually a lullaby my mum used to sing this to me as a little baby with my dad on base Lol awwww :)

  • My favourite Seekers song...

  • This the first song I ever remember and Judith's glorious voice I was born in Jan 1965

  • We used to sing this at primary school in the late 60s. Happy memories.

  • My mum used to sing this to me when I was little to get me to sleep. Some of the best childhood memories I have :'). Now when I listen to this song it makes me emotional because it's such a beautiful, sweet song. :) <3

  • My mother sang my brother and me to sleep with this song ... now my brother's 3 year old son is being sung to sleep with it - and at any time of the day or night, he will start singing it at the top of his voice :)

  • Had this song on my 'All aboard' LP never liked it when i was a child but it conjures some amazing memories from happy times. I was born 1979 so must've listened to this in the early 80's, I feel super privileged to have been around during LP's then tapes then CD's then MP3's, there is still a certain quality of sound that only comes from listening to LP's

  • wonderful music from wonderful singers and musicians....

  • My mum used to sing this to me as a lullaby, it still makes me feel so safe and loved when I hear it! Such a beautiful song.

  • @Molliiful So did mine and so still do I feel. The sad thing is that I buried my mother in February last year. I think this is the first time since I've listened to this song. I want my mother back, please!

  • @Molliiful same, i know all the words, i loved this song when i was little and still do now

  • @Molliiful Join the club! It's raining hard where my train's riding at the moment and I still get an amazing sense of being protected when I hear this. We're on our way to Morningtown.

  • @Molliiful I sang it to my little boy when he 2 to 3. I use to sing, "Underneath the blanket, is little Mackie boy" :)

  • Judith Durham was perhaps the Karen Carpenter of the black and white era.

  • There is something magical about the voice and presence of Judith Durham. Tremendous harmony, very upbeat positive musical experience. No doubt a legendary band that has not gotten the proper recognition for their greatness.

  • i have been to Queen , Santana , BB King , Gary Moore , Moody Blues and many more concerts , but I wiish i could have seen Judith and the guys live

  • @remitablechair I have ... not back in the 60's, but in the late 90's ... and they are reforming for a very special tour this year - with Andre Rieu :) Tickets for that would be like gold!!

  • @roseanne74 wonder if they will make the uk , I take it your in Oz roseanne ?

  • @remitablechair Yes I am ... hopefully they'll release the tour on dvd - that's my only hope of seeing it, even though I live here :(

  • I had completely forgotten about this song. A wave of nostalgia hit like a ton of bricks. Tears in my eyes. Loved The Seekers. They are the best. Thanks for the great post.

  • I recall this as a child and still cry :)

  • @elicat1 me too ,,, god that takes me back , havin a field day listening to their songs ,

  • I love so many songs and so many different types of music. But few songs mean as much or touch me like this one. For some reason it has been a favorite since I first heard it back in the 1960's. And I can never hear it and never have a smile. Perfection

  • I love so many songs and so many different types of music. But few songs mean as much or touch me like this one. For some reason it has been a favorite since I first heard it back in the 1960's. And I can never hear it and never have a smile. Perfection

  • Indeed this is real music , its warm and harmonious and reminds us of a time long gone

  • Again, many thanks.

A moment of lump in throat an tear in eye

    Yesterday was only yesterday .....or?

  • Our teacher Mrs Scott had a record player in 1966 and would bring it in school for us to listen to as we worked and this was one of her favourite songs. Always remember her very long legs and I was 8 years old

  • She 's like a 1960's schoolteacher , one of the nice ones anyway.

  • My mum used to sing this to me when i was little to get my to sleep now i am 18 and sing it to my sister.

  • Because music will never be the same, this still makes me cry - as it did when I was younger!

  • What a lovely lullaby...

  • I think I like the orchestration on this "live" version better than the original song. What a GREAT group!

  • I was there :)

  • I remember recording this final concert on a reel to reel recorder, tape long lost,so thank you whoever put this up, the whole concert must be here . We were so sad that they were breaking up. Just found Judith singing that Charley Chaplin song, she makes Petula sound very affected.

  • A marvellous song sung by a stunning beauty and backed by a fabulous trio. Don't we all miss the best era for music? Please give me back to me my teenage years of the 60's.

  • The SEEKERS got lumped in with that 'Hullaballoo' crew, meanwhile they were really just as awesome as the Beatles, if not more so. Way into harmonies, driving song structure and she is just a fine fine superfine lass- i mean, lissen to their WORLD OF OUR OWN and try not to stop from feeling all emotionally optimistic if only for a moment. SEEK? I mean do they ever!

  • Come on now lets be honest!................. I bet you were all singing along to it!

  • I can't believe how much I love this song and sing it all the time FIFTY YEARS LATER. I first heard it live at the Seekers concert in London in 1966 while I was doing my Masters degree at Imperial College London Univ. This represented such a happy and uncomplicated time to me epitomized by their music - love all their songs

  • I loved this song when I was a little girl and still love it. There is a magic about this song and Judith and the rest of the Seekers make it that way. Like many people think that the music these days lack substance, I can tolerate so much of the "music" today but only in small doses. Shame that the kids these days will never know what life was like back in the 60's, 70's life was so much easier and calmer now it is just anger and hatred and horrid music..
