  • Great video....I used to live just 150 feet from the former So. Pac

line between Houston and New Orleans, with some 30 trains per

day going by. On day a hose broke right in front of my house,

scaring the crap out of me. That train came to a complete stop

    in about 25 seconds....TOTALY AWSOME/AMANZING to witness

    this personally in real time:)

  • Great video.

  • Really strong brakes.

  • 12 seconds damn thats quick

  • Thick brake shoes and a simulaneous dump from the rear ... flat track .. no grade. I couldnt tell if they were empties .. probably with only one Engine. I can believe it.

  • Never seen a train stop so fast, especially one so big. Great catch.

  • nice vidoe

  • WWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW

  • Nice video! Only a railfan would be out in the cold at 4AM to see something like this. Liked and Favorited!

  • He stopped fast.

  • if you listen carefully you can hear when the air line brakes between 1:49-1:55

  • @sieman700 the big Whoosh of air is the brakes being applied...theres a Bang about 3 or 4 seconds before that... 20 seconds later the train has come to a complete stop.

  • it's funny how it became silent all of the sudden,it's like if time stopped haha

  • And only that one AC4400 brought to a stop?

  • @CSXManG21 No. that fast? never...loss of pressure means brakes lock up...

  • WOW!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, I can't believe how fast it stopped! Serious braking power.

  • When they lose air like that you can bet the engineer is laying on the emergency brake.

  • @HyperActive7 Nope, its automatic...

  • @HyperActive7 It's automatic. Compressed air keeps a piston from applying to a brake shoe. When the air is dumped/discharged like it is in here, a sensor called the triple valve detects that and dumps the air for the car. Then the next triple valve senses it and dumps its air as well and then the domino effect continues. The loss of air forces the piston to move onto the brakes and therefore put the train into emergency.

  • That is the train of Chuck Noris!

  • Iv never seen a train stop that quick before, nice catch

  • dam fast stop

  • Is this an ES44 or what? I know it's an AC represented by the lightning bolt on the side... It's really odd to see just one locomotive with 82+ cars. It seems that it at least should have a second engine in the consist. Can anyone explain? Thanks

  • probably empties cause if they were full they wouldnt have stopped that fast

  • Wow crazy fast stop!

Hey man I would really appreciate knowing the name of your intro music track

    Thanks!

  • flat spots for all that night

  • That's was the fastest brake I've seen!!!

  • This cars don't have brakes on their wheels? (excuse my bad English)

  • @cojocarius basically all freight cars have breaks applied directly to the surface area of each wheel.

As for the video, wow that was a fast stop. Obviously all empty's as it stopped in 8 or 9 cars. I've had a hose break on me, luckily we were just switching in the middle of no where and didn't tie up any yards or main lines.

  • Wow fast stop!

  • that was intense

  • 12 carlengths from about 30mph?

  • Must have been a train of empties, probably only totalling under 3000 tons, because that's the fastest I ever seen a train stop!

  • @o00o00ozy I have been on an Amtrak train one time that the engineer had to do an emergancy stop very quicklly we were going through Southern Louisiana through a town haveing a BBQ festable he threw it n emergancy to avoid someone croseing the track directlly in front of the engine he barelly missed him I had my train radio on and heard the engineer Big Hole it and we came to a hard stop I was on the rear on a private car I got some free BBQ LOL the guy got arrested and we left

  • @o00o00ozy Empties yes, still probably over 3k tons.

  • @Nathanrailfan Ohhh, I understand now. I though you just didn't like them because they're unreliable or something..... And I don't really have a preference between EMD and GE. I find them both pretty much the same.

  • That was really quick, what happened?

  • Wow! that was pretty quick stop.

  • Godamn that was fast lmao !!

  • @Nathanrailfan why don't you like CSX or NS? Those are my 2 favorites. It's not like it's their fault that the air hose seperated. It's just that there's malfunctions sometimes. I'm sure that your favorite railroads have had air hoses seperate an also detailments and breakdowns.

  • @trainster100 Because I look at them everyday. I don't get to look at Southern Pacific, I don't get to see BC RAIL, I don't get to see Canadian Pacific, I don't get to see Santa Fe. One reason, I don't live on their network. Don't I wish I could. Two, they are all fallen flags, meaning I will NEVER see them ever again except through modeling and that's it. Break downs have nothing to do with it. I am tired of looking at them. Oh, and don't get me started on RJ Corman. You don't want it!

  • I told you the Manual settings help big time! Nice Vid.

  • Great video my frend! 5*****

  • Wow, I've never seen a freight train come to a stop so quickly before!

  • Nice Shot Ryan! This is K212.

  • WOW..gr8 video

  • It sounds like there's a GEVO motor inside!

  • Great video! Wow, had the air hose snap right beside you! I tell ya, CSX ain't much different than CN with their problems. That certainly was a fast stop though! Came to a stop in 17 seconds!

  • I know what thats like, just my train isn't as long. Cool catch. Excellent video.

  • I would hate to be the conductor having to walk that far back to check on air hoses and such at night in the cold.

  • At 1:55, you can hear an air hose snap. That was a quick stop!

  • it's called chicken shit express for a reason lol , nice shot

  • @yurysausage CSXT= Chessie Sees Xploding Trains. You don't have to tell me. I live in a state full of the CSX fuckers and I can't stand them nor Nazi Squad = NS. My favourite roads are BC RAIL, Southern Pacific, Canadian Pacific and Santa Fe.

  • Wow a one unit wonder going into emergency!
