Can anyone tell me when this was originally written and recorded and what album? Wikipedia doesn't say shit. I've read 1977 on 7' record, on More Power from 1972. I swear years ago I seen a clip of The Stooges playing this song in 1968! Also Murphy's Law version is pretty good if never heard.
@teden20 I've got this on a Bomp! record called funnily enough "I got a Right", this track plus four others are described in the liner notes as being rehersals done in 1973, working up material for "Raw Power" This is either done around detroit or maybe london.I've read conflicting information.
@reberldesincausa OK, maybe all the other Stooges songs are 'punk', but I know 'thrash metal' when I hear it, and this is 'thrash metal' LONG before "Ace of Spades" or "Whiplash"!
@shanksworthy i think this tune and some other stooges tunes can be called punk in heinsight, yes it has quite the punk rock sound and lyrics, but there are also psychedelic and trash metal elements to it...the Ramones defined Punk Rock in my opinion, but there is no doubt that Igyy and the Stooges were a precursor to Punk, Metal, Gothic, and Indie. They played a mix of genres we know today but always with a distinct sound! that's why I love them so, ahead of their time!
Another killer Stooges song--wicked hard cool. Like 1972 or 1973. This is off the same "I'm Sick of You!" EP as "Scene of the Crime." See poster Voy0 "Scene of the Crime." Fuck or Fight--it's your choice. I choose the latter.
With this song there can be no debate about Iggy being the creator of Punk (or even the roots of Hardcore to some extent!). It was recorded in '72, and I've since heard a lot of punk/hardcore songs that are virtual copies of this exact sound!

Where can I get this EP?

I just figure out that its sounds a bit like a insane-deranged-full-on-speed -reworking of Im Alright, the Stone's song on Out of our Heads.
This is some serious seminal shit!!

There wasn't ANYTHING that sounded like this for another 10 years! Metallica was barely a gleam in James Hetfield's eye!

@notfragile33 Motorhead were influenced by The Stooges, simple as that.

@ChrisHenniker Lemmy was also one of the big UK supporters of the MC5. I think Lemmy just liked the Michigan underground scene, in general!

@notfragile33 Lemmy's a man of taste, I can't fault him.

@moLeOnPoT If the Ramones defined punk for you, we're not on the same page brother. But yeah, I feel what you're saying.
