Nevada-California-Oregon #18, and four other Baldwins and one Schenectady, kept their numbers when the Southern Pacific transferred them to the Carson & Colorado; as I understand things, she's the only one of the group to pack Walschaerts drive (all the others had Stevenson drive). Hopefully she'll have a mile of 3'-0" gauge track for exercise.
I have driven past this steam engine many many times over the years when I drive on high way 395 between my place near Carson City, Nevada and my dad's place in Antelope Valley, California.
The 18 will have a home at the Eastern sierra Museum just e few blocks south from the park. There will be a section of track to run the 18 back and forth on. No plan for us to rebuild the C&C as a tourist line. But the 18 will most likely go out and visit other operations. Great video BTW, I can see myself working on the right rear of the boiler.

That's great that #18 is being restored! Hopefully she'll stay on her home turf when she gets steamed up! BTW did anyone else notice the word "poop" on top of the firebox entrance at 1:39? lol!
BTW this was done with my Blackberry Style 9670 which is only SD at 640x480 (or is it 720?) Then I edited it with Corel Video Studio Pro and exported it as 720p HD.
Normally I shoot with a Canon HV20 and edit with Premiere but I didn't have that camera with me on this trip, so this is all you get, that explains why there are black bars on the sides of the video.
@thomasrosiefan1 I really don't know. I suppose there's a hope that someday they can rebuild some track on the east side of the valley like the original C&C. But I would think maybe NSRM is a possibility for a guest run. Right now NSRM is rebuilding a narrow gauge Glenbrook loco and they will then install their narrow gauge track inside their standard gauge.
Now if the C&C group WERE going to rebuild track there are ahead of the game, I would guess most of the old roadbed is BLM land. Charlie?
@virginiatruckee actually from what I've heard, part of the Carson and Colorado is being rebuilt to operate as a tourist railroad, supposedly that's where #18 is going to be running.
