  • Everyone sings like Dylan when they sing Dylan

  • BRMC is a great band. Bob Dylan is a great singer. Robert Turner, did the song with an incredible feeling. That's wonderful.

  • It's a great cover. It's got everything it needs.

  • sounds like the kooks

  • oh shit....this would make me contribute to zantzinger's defence fund!!1

  • these guys are damn good but this is fuggin terrible ...painful to listen to ...i dont knw what u guys are smokin for this to sound good its almost like he dumbed down his voice on purpose to sound like dylan thus insulting the genius himself...two thumbs way down

  • This is a nice reading of the song. Usually, the simpler the better. Lots of covers miss the essence of a song. This fellow has captured it well.

  • Man, wenn ich den Mist hier lese. Turner versucht nicht wie Dylan zu singen, Turner singt wie Turner diesmal halt nen Dylan-Song, basta! Großer Song, große Band! BRMC rules!

  • Love the music, hate the hipsters.

  • Aside from the fact he is out of tune and playing the wrong notes. This is suppose to be a mournful protest song....but this just sounds like Uncle Jessie singing to little Michelle on Full House

  • wonderful version. i love the old dylan songs. but unfortunatelly he cannot sing and play guitar. so i be happy all the time when i hear that a talented musician has cover a dylan-song.

  • @HolgerHelfert : Going to have to disagree with you there. Dylan can certainly play guitar, have you ever listened to Dylan records, or do you just saying things you've heard before?

Also, one of the most original voices ever, you really think Robert Levon Been is a better singer than Dylan is? You're nuts.

  • Ive always thought that its super hard to pull off a dylan cover. Not only is BRMC the best band Ive seen live, but this cover is beautiful.

  • i've always dug BRMC, this rules.

  • People sing betetr then dylan, but he had his own style completely. this is an amazing cover tho. so happy this band are around, this band are just proving that a)rock and roll aint dead and b)in a time were so much music is made by un-talented people, we shouldnt give up on it coz there are people like this around

  • @chippywren67 herehere. theres a small but solid number of musicians out there keeping some decency in the backbone of an industry i can't help but believe is corrupted by money and fame addicts. BRMC is one, strumming just under the radar. \m/

  • What guitar is that?

It's a martins guitar isn't it? but which series?

  • sweet hope they play this one live when i see them in aus!

  • not bad...good to see that people are covering some of the more obscure bob dylan songs(meaning ones you dont hear on the radio)

  • There's just something so sweet about a guitar played in tune.

  • channeling bob dylan i love brmc!

  • dear brmc try evidently chickentown its your side of the road

  • which one of you bastards been to petersburg alaska with a columbian wife.?

you are my friend from the theatre seats about the campfire...email me mouldyboats@hotmail

  • i thought at first der his goin to sing across the universe. XD u rock dylan!

  • no one sings dylan like dylan. but some do it quite good :b i really like this.

  • Oh come on. Dylan influenced nearly everyone that followed him (whether they know it or not). What's wrong with paying a little homage to him by covering one of his songs?!

    Great cover!

Although many can sing better that Dylan, not all can emote like he can.

  • this is a great cover. glad turner did it!

  • Yes. Just yes.

  • He's not trying to sound like Dylan: that's what Robert's voice usually sounds like. Of course, you still have to keep in mind that not only him, but BRMC as a band have a very clear Dylan influence (just listen to Mercy or some of the stuff in Howl), but I wouldn't say he's trying to copy him. And I wouldn't even call this a cover, it's not like he changed the song. He's basically just singing it. And it's a really nice rendition, even if he does fuck up here and there a few times.

  • saw him singin this live: so much better!

  • This is Robert Levon Been, Turner was a stage name to stay anonymous because his dad was a famous musician.

He always wears those shades, regardless of teh Dylan cover happening here. I'm surprised he's not wearing his trademark flat-collar leather jacket. But oh well.

    Great job, Rob.

  • this is awesome

  • is this a ray ban?

  • thats amaze!

  • Of course Turner is not Dylan, and the original version of a song is most of time the best one. But I think he made a good job. I mean, this cover is beautiful.

  • He wears those a lot, not just for this video.

  • I just love BRMC

  • check out the christy moore version by a 1000 miles the most emotional on youtube...

  • In my opinion, the rolling thunder version of this song is the best version.

  • and its hard

and its hard to cover bob

    great job love BRMC

  • bob dylan's version is way better...

  • Definately, I also like the Mason Jennings version from I'm Not There better as well.

  • Not true. Bob Dylan can't sing. He's a great song writer though.

  • Nahhhh, he really can sing, you just need to stop jumping on the "Dylan can't Sing" bandwagon

  • wow, that was excellent. Really awesome. °°°°° thanks Art for took this great tune on his channel.

    Cheers, CHris

  • Thank you Chris.

  • who knows the chords that he's using?

  • E, C#m, F#m

  • these guys pull off acoustic perfect listen to songs like shuffle your feet and aint no easy way, but on the other hand there rock stuff is even more perfect lol probly my favorite band, whatever happened to my rock and roll? you guys brang it back

  • does brmc usually do acoustic albums? cause this guy definitely should

  • they have one album that is dominantly acoustic that i know of.

    that album is called "Howl"

  • i have never seen somebody f up something so good in my life....this guy does not know enough or has not lived enough to mean or understand anything he is trying to sing......

  • Mr. Dylan would've been seven years younger when he wrote the song.

  • he doesnt have to try and sing like Dylan tho :/

  • HEY MOTHERFUCKERS///////////;listen, to Robert's lead songs.......thats his voice. Peter and Robert have an understanding that they both comand their own songs.....BRMC is the most important Rok band in the last 9yrs.....

  • Youkaikaze I bet ur de toughest in ur town.

  • i agree. let's go see Fall Out Boy.

  • i actually think he sings better than dylan. for me, dylan is a good composer but not a singer.

  • Well..if you see it from the talent-side..well youre right. But on the other..he was the first with this kind of voice..

  • I think he is trying to hard to sound like Dylan. He should sing in his own voice. He should just leave the band and go solo...Peter is better though

  • Totally agree, jandean. He shouldn't try to sound like Dylan - it's sounds cartoonish this way. He's so good just as he is. I would have loved to have heard it in his own voice.

  • Great job!!

  • I think he is trying to hard to sound like Dylan. He should sing in his own voice.

  • He actually does kinda sound a lot like Dylan anyways, but I agree.

  • de repente se le salen unos guallitos pero le quedo chido el cover

  • its amazing how remakes of Dylan songs are always so good...

  • i love them so much

    @--^---

  • A very good cover of a very good Dylan Tune. Very Cool! Another very good cover of a Dylan Song, is "The Ballad of Hollis Brown", done by Dobro Dan here on Youtube. Check it out!

  • I think William Zantzinger owes dylan for this song, after all no one would give a shit about him if it weren't for this 5 minute piece of lyrical genius

  • sounds like across the universe

  • great cover, but this song just isn't complete to me without the harmonica and the feel of dylan

  • William Zantzinger actually just now died on the 3rd of this month. He was 69.

  • it this true?

  • yes

  • no one is better than dylan

  • best bob cover i've ever heard

  • you need to check out folkhippie500 he can sing dylan like nobody ive seen!!!check'em out!!!

  • this is amazing, i lover b.r.m.c and dylan.

he plays and sings it so well,

great stuff! thank you for posting this!

  • wow awesome job

  • "Their own sound" as an electric trio is really good. He's just paying tribute to a forefather of popular music. Their own sound includes vintage Gibsons. The bass is a wonderful bass and it gets many great tones. I know. I have a 1968 2 pickup model. Keep on!

  • Bob Dylan looks a little different in this video.

  • that better be sarcasim

  • yeah better be! looooooooooool

  • btw this song sounded fucking great in live acoustic!

  • weak.

  • hahahahahaha

  • Actually, his name is Robert Levon Been and he doesn't get paid much.

  • Both Robert Turner and Mason Jennings do wonderful covers of this song. 7diablo55, the only thing we might criticize about Turner is sounding too much like Dylan. Dylan, Tom Waits, etc. have great voices. The shitty voices are the well-trained and lifeless ones.

  • And people say that Dylan has a poor voice...

  • This is a surprisingly good cover.

  • If you have it in you to say a bad word about Black Rebel Motorcycle Club or Peter/Robert, then you're admitting rock and roll is dead. These guys are providing life support. Also, the most gracious and humble guys you will ever meet. Have taken the time after EVERY show to stay and talk, and even play acoustics for us in the back until the cops broke it up. Thank God for these two guys.

  • blah blah blah go comment on some video where someone gives a shit

  • It's people that don't give a shit that fuck everything up. You get a bunch of people that know you don't care so they keep selling you the same shit forever. and ever. Maybe if we start caring, we won't get fed shit constantly and art will come back.

  • (sheds one single tear)

  • hahaahha waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah waaaaaaaaaaaaah BITCHES!!

  • @spaceboy915

Fucking true ! I had a chance to hi them after a sound check this year, really cool guy, even no security around them, I was so surprise to see them that I did not even think to bother him for a picture with them - Hope to listen to them in concert again very soon ! And the covers of Robert are great too ! Cheers !

  • @spaceboy915

let me be the first to admit rock and roll is dead.

isn't rock supposed to move forward? where's this guy's personal style?

Turner sounds like he's doing a Bob Dylan impersonation rather than an interpretation of the song. bleh.

  • @satinhooks Uh that guy is Robert Levon Been of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, he's the lead guitarist, and occasional backup vocals. He really sings like that, and this is a cover. If you want something orginal, then listen to their original songs, not COVERS. They are one of the few real rock bands around nowadays. I'd suggest doing a little research before talking out of your ass next time.

  • @GuitarAntiHeroe

I've known these guys since they first hit the road. Levon is doing what a lot of people do when they play someone else's song... attempting to 'sound' like the original artist's version or the most recognized recorded version. Lot's of folks do this. There's a reason he's not the main/lead voice in BRMC. I don't really even mean that as an insult.

Observation & opinion. Great guys in BRMC, btw.

  • @satinhooks you say you've known BRMC since they first hit the road? So how can you say he tries to sound like dylan? that's his normal voice, he always sings like that. And there's no main/lead voice in BRMC, both Hayes and Levon write the songs.. Hayes sings the ones he wrote and same for Robert.

  • @GuitarAntiHeroe You're right about his voice and all, but PLEASE: lead guitarist?? OCCASIONAL backup vocals???? No no no. Weapon of Choice? Robert. Weight Of the World? Robert. Sympathetic Noose? Robert.

The Line? Robert. And so on... And they BOTH play on almost every song the guitar. (almost!)

Sorry if I get a bit carried away. No offens.^^

  • ha ha

  • support the attempt but not my taste :[ i apologize...

it just feels rock starish...his voice feels hard - not crying this beautiful song.

its cool that he covered it tho.

  • no one sings dylan like dylan... but this is something else. It's such an great version, I just love Robs voice and it fits the song in an amazing way

  • you guys R the best!!! thanks to have been in Chile.

  • It was said "no one sings dylan like dylan" and its true.

  • Precisely right. But, Rob Turner does have talent, you've got to admit.

  • 893 needs to learn how to properly capture the sound of acoustic guitars. All of these videos are awesome except for the SOUND of the guitar. UGH

  • Agreed!

  • Awesome cover; a true testament as to the lineage of great American music.

  • Very bland cover. I enjoyed it the first time. But not once after.

  • Hm. It sounds very similar to the original, so I take it you find the original bland as well?

  • Is this guy doing a dylan imitation, or does he really sing like that? That's not sarcastic, I really just dont know

  • To me, in BRMC's other songs, his voice has a similar quality to it, but I never really noticed it until I listened to this cover and then put on some of their music.

  • Yeah, this is just another interpretation of his style; it's really interesting in that regard.

  • (Didn't ask)

    (Don't care)

    (K)

    (Thx)

  • not really, i pretty said that so you shut up.

  • I win.

  • BRMC did a great cover of Dylan song. Irreverent today or not, old songs cant still be important ones. There is a reason Dylan is legend.

  • Zantzinger only six months in jail and a fine of $500, for the murder of Hattie Carrol.

  • You sir, make no fucking sense.

  • Yes I do. You don't.

  • Basically, from what I gather you seem to mean that if a song is 50 years old its not listenable and pointless.

Also you seem to suggest that remembering any event is worthless and that history all together is bollocks and should be done away with.

Explain yourself in a way that changes how your opinion is perceived or forever be labeled as just another cunt who surfs youtube looking for opportunities to start a completely pointless row.

  • Your life is a waste, I'd find a high building. And for the record,if Hitler payed attention to history, he might of reconsidered his attack on Russia. Napoleon had try that earlier, it didn't go so well.

  • I didn't say Hitler wrote the song. Its called a comparison. Didn't you go to school? The song is relevant today, people still go to jail. And even if it wasn't, who cares? Its a song, matter how old it is, it can still be good. Idiot.

  • hahahahahahahahaha, Zantzinger served his time in Washington county jail, for his crime. But by your account, its irrelevant, because NOBODY today still gets off easy for any crime that they do.

  • You do the time, you do the crime. Stop making excuses, idiot.

  • Zantzinger was initially charged with murder. His defense was that he had been extremely drunk, and he admitted to no memory of the attack. His charge was reduced to manslaughter and assault. But what I'm i telling you for? You already new what the song was about.

  • It was already proven through later DNA evidence that he wasn't even THERE that night. Check your facts before making an ass of yourself, retard.

  • lol, that doesn't matter, you think they had DNA testing 1963? That dna could even be in his trial? The evidence against him at the time pretty much screamed "guilty." Zantzinger got off because he had wealthy connections, and being white. Still think the song is irrelevant? Cant think of any similar trials in recent history like that? What was "proven" later doesn't matter. The song was written before dna testing was even used in trails.

  • That doesn't make a conviction worth upholding, just because the technology didn't exist at the time. Dylan needs to write an apology song, ASAP.

  • haha okay, fair enough.

  • I win.

  • write an apology? who to? jstow01 youtube fucktard? seriously what the hell are you tring to prove. i cba to read all your other bull, just listen to the music, this is one of lyrics greatest songs, so what if you dont think its realistic. Your a douché, this is a classic song. So who wins? Not you thats for sure.

  • zomgroflcopter?

  • i c wut u did thar

  • lololololol zomg

  • If a song written 50 years ago still holds meaning today and is relevant to several things then it definitely ISNT pointless - neither is showing your appreciation for that song.

    Idiot.

  • So you think there's absolutely no one in prison that's been wrongfully accused? Or gotten into trouble with the law because of a person of higher influence influencing the law?

    Nice try.

    Grow up.

  • If you think that's what the song is about, then you're even more of an idiot than I originally thought.

  • hes a cunt, dont waste your precious words.

  • Why is it a waste of time? so no one can pay homage to anyone because its in the past? Your comment makes no sense... Thats like saying..

No one can listen to Dylan or the Beatles early work because it was created over 40 years ago!!

  • You havent a clue jstow01, your just a cunt.

  • You haven't a clue regarding the difference between "your" and "you're". Sunt.

  • This is a pretty solid cover of Hattie Carroll. Plus 500 for BRMC

  • His name's Robert Levon Been. He was credited as Robert Turner in the older albums so he wouldn't be connected with his father, Michael Been from The Call. But now it's officially Levon Been.

  • All absolutely correct, no-one seems to get this rght ever. Well done!

  • One of my favorite Dylan songs. Excellent tribute!

  • hater

  • LMFAO - I'm sorry, but singling out vocals in the case of Dylan covers is a little ridiculous.

Now, I love Dylans vocals but they didnt have too much range or control.

So, I'm not really sure what you're talking about.
