Drunkenness is a sin, and so I respect the rebuking of drunkenness. However when will Independent Baptist-esque street preachers stand in front of a all you can eat buffet and condemn gluttony? When God refers to a person who is righteous He means one who has faith, and walks obediently with Him. In the old testament that was a person who followed the laws, and when a law was broken they would be lucky if God forgave them, they may never have known if they were forgiven until the day they died.

In the New Testament when a law is broken all which is required is to have faith in, and follow Christ. With Him the comfort of forgiveness is always with us. Only who believe and born again
