I have voted YES. Some people are so ignorant and they treat animals as products just for profit. They have abused the system and mass overbreeding is contributing to animals in shelters. DO NOT BUY FROM A PUPPY STORE. TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THE VIDEO. THAT IS WHERE YOUR ANIMAL IS COMING FROM...EDUCATE YOURSELVES AND ADOPT, DON'T SHOP. PLEASE.
I personally wish puppy mills did not exist. The sad thing is animals are treated and viewed under law as property. Once that perception of law changes, animals will be given rights that could be enforced.
I am voting Yes on Prop B. This makes me mad that there are several puppy mills that mistreat dogs! All the owners wants is money to go out to be stupid by buying crack!
Vote Yes Guys. our Papillon that we bought from a pet store came from a puppy mill. She was so sick for six months, had we known we would have not gave our money to this pet store, now out of buissnes. Our dog is doing good now have had her for 2 years now and is the best think we did. We saved her from a lady that was going to buy her, she was breeder dont know what would have happend to her if we didn't get her. but still puppy mills should do the right thing.
This is so sad. My lil cocker girl Molli was from a puppy mill in Ohio. Abused, used to have puppies since she went in heat. I just lost her in July from liver disease as the result of puppy mill. I miss her so much. I want puppy mills to stop. I am not against breeders who are responsible and who takes the time to care for these dogs.
Puppy mills in Missouri profit millions of dollars every year (from neglecting animals) and they are fighting hard and spending money against the passing of Prop B. But hundreds of thousands of Missourians signed the petition to get this on the ballot, because they're sick of the industry, sick of ending up with genetically unhealthy dogs and dogs with behavior problems, and they're embarassed to be the puppymill capital of the US. It's time to take a stand against cruelty and demand change.
I will definitely be voting yes. However, honestly, I don't even understand why a proposition is necessary. I know this is America and the majority rule, but in this case when living beings are tortured and suffer, the Government should intervene and regulate regardless of a passed bill.
It's sickening that we have to vote on something to stop the suffering of a living being and this shit is allowed to exist in the first place.
Kinda interesting to see that some older comments have apparently been removed. (?) Not sure why mine was. Perhaps because there was a "nasty" response to it from an uninformed HSUS/ASPCA/PETA hater. I wholeheartedly support increased regulation on these types of operations. In fact, I would like to see them all permanently shut down. I am a volunteer dog trainer at an SPCA in Florida and see, firsthand, the results of these types of operations. Please adopt...don't shop!
I cannot beleive that the people of Missourri would vote this down. To do so would mean that they think breeders should have unlimited freedom to make a profit no matter what the consequences for the dogs, and that dogs are merely a commodity with no rights whatsoever. If this is true, I will never, ever set foot in that state.
Gee, everything seen in the video is ALREADY illegal!! Nothing new here. HSUS is still showing mills that are closed down by laws ALREADY in place. The current laws are working! Prop B will not make the system work any faster. It is designed to destroy the entire dog industry! NO on Prop B.
@rek1002 Prop B will increase the likelihood that local law enforcement will act without waiting for action by the Missouri Dept. of Agriculture. Prop B provides clear cut criminal prohibitions, like the limit on the total breeding dogs, the cage size requirements, and the requirement for constant access to outdoor space. Local officers will be able to identify these without consulting an expert.
Prop B will stop puppy mill abuses by establishing common sense standards of proper care.
Vote No!!!! There are laws already in place to protect dogs. The Prop B ads and videos all prove this. All prop B will do is punish the legal and good breeders. Open your eyes people, they (the animal rights activists) want to take all our animals away!!!
@Deanne3760 Seriously, there ARE REPUTABLE BREEDERS who put an ad out to VOTE YES!!!!!!!! We don't want to take your animals away.....we want you to TREAT THEM WITH RESPECT!
@Deanne3760 its there to make regulations, so that people don't unfairly treat dogs. If you don't abuse your animals, then Prop B won't affect you, so vote yes for the people who DO abuse their animals
Repeating inaccurate claims about The HSUS seems to be a common tactic by Prop B opponents because it's so plain to see that puppy mills are crueI and that many local groups are supporting Prop B. I work for the HSUS and am proud to, because I work with people who love pets & other animals and believe they don't deserve to be abused. I hope voters read the ballot language carefully, see whether you agree with the standards it sets, and then vote your conscience. Thank you!
The difference between the current laws and Prop B is that Prop B makes it a crime to house puppy mill dogs in horrible conditions. Prop B will criminalize a number of violations for which criminal sanctions are not currently available under the Animal Welfare Facilities Act or the Missouri criminal code. This will give local law enforcement the tools to crack down on puppy mill abuses such as cramming dogs into small and filthy cages 24 hours a day for their entire lives.
This made me physically ill. As Americans with any hearts at all, we have to stop this and make sure this hell holes NEVER operate again. I love my dogs.
By the time the buyer realizes there is a problem they and the family has bonded with the puppy. If the buyer calls to return the puppy the breeder many times will state that the puppies is unsaleable and therefore they will have to euthanize the puppy. The breeder knows by saying this that the buyer will not return the puppy. When a car dealer sells you a car and he knows there are major problems and doesn't tell you you can legally so something about it. It should be the same with puppies.
Many of these puppies are sold for +$1000.00. Buyers are many times are lied to about how the puppies they get are raised ( raised in the home) the condition of parents. In addition vet record many times are forged because the puppies never see a vet. This is fraud and should be considered by the law as such. Many breeders tell the buyer that they can return the puppy and get a refund if there is a health problem. cont' ..
@becauseitsamerica So what do you suggest to help these poor animals. Do you have an answer, or do you even care? You are a big talker, but I don't see any solutions. With a law, if a puppy mill is discovered, at least it will give the authorities something to enforce.
Has anyone every watched Dogtown. They rescue abused dogs and other animals every day. They save dogs from puppy mills. They are for Prop B. Take a look on the web to see the wonderful things they do for dogs. Take a look at the Best Friends Animal Society website, and see who you believe.
Something you don't seem to understand is the USDA does "regulate" puppy mills, but (1) that means dogs are considered in the same way as "cattle" (which are often mistreated, as well) and (2) so many USDA inspectors are corrupt and get paid-off all the time to turn a blind eye. When puppy mills have "too many dogs" all the owners have to do is shoot, drown or beat them to death! I know someone who worked at a mill for the money and he saw the owner kill a pup against a tree. My friend quit.
THANK YOU to everyone involved in the Vote YES! on Prop B campaign. I live in Arizona, but adopted a breeding mother rescued from a horrible puppy mill in Missouri. She had a nightmare of a life and when she was rescued, the rescuers found dead dogs strewn about the mill grounds, the dogs were being fed sawdust with their food, were caked in feces, had disturbingly long claws, some growing into their feet, etc., etc. This video is so accurate. My dog is so sweet and loving, but she's so timid.
it is well known that people who treat animals this way, grow up to treat people in a similar manner. Is this what you want to teach your children, Missouri? VOTE YES ON PROP B!!!.
I do not want agriculture in Missouri to falter or fail. But animals do not have to suffer in order to make an economy strive. What is your answer to people who treat a dog like this or call this a business. If this type of business is helping your economy to strive then yes sorry to say it deserves to falter. I am not a breeder, I am just a dog owner and a person who feels that mistreatment of animals needs to stop.
VOTE YES ON PROP B ON NOVEMBER 2ND TO END THIS HORRIFIC TREATMENT OF ANIMALS. THESE MILLS ARE GREEDY AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT ANIMALS. IT'S DISGUSTING. IT NEEDS TO STOP NOW.
