I don't believe in the law that an individual is a citizen of whatever country they happen to be geographically born in. Only if one of the parents was already a citizen.
The smell of taco grease fills the room.....the criminal immigrant is made to sit in a chair, in handcuffs, as a border patrol agent does his patriotic duty by starting the deportation paperwork. The criminal immigrant is obviously upset. It knows that when it gets deported back to the scum hole known as mexico, it will have to go back to actually working and paying taxes. This is a GOOD day for America! The foul criminal immigrant is then put in a cell, to await deportation.
Who fucking cares? I'm born an raised in Ohio, living here legally, but I still have to pay out of state tuition for the Florida colleges. So pretty much, these people crying over the laws can fuck off and cry a river. Cry racist, cry bigot, cry whatever the fuck you want. If a legal American TAX PAYING citizen has to pay out of state tuition, then the mother fuckers will have to pay out of state tuition.
also most immigrants didn't have a problem with the old immigration system, its just the young illegals that don't know their illegal and get offended waking up to a lie. so they pray on heart bleeders bringing their kids on television for pitty sad but i admit smart. also you don't need a social security number for food stamps, and if you have children you get free medicare and now because weak republicans,in state tuition?. more writing it off on the tax payers.
Heart bleeders kill the economy by encourage illegals to come to america, not be a citizen, break our laws, get free medicare for their children, food stamps (programs from american tax payers), use stolen identitys to get jobs, and now in state tuition?!! illegals children have it better then less fortunate americans. we should have a banner that says *No social security number or passport? no problem* why do we have laws if there not being enforced?!!! Illegals is a state issue..
All illegals should be granted one blank amnesty. Only by giving them citizenship we can prevent third world slime growing in our country. It is like taking care of you backyard. You want it nice looking, so you cut weeds out once in awhile. With amnesty, we will put them on the right path of becoming more sustainable and productive, we will make them be true Americans with strong good spoken English. God Bless America and all legal and illegal citizens !!!
I'll say this again American can't be the door step to every county's problems. like say I don't pay my bills and get evicted does that mean I get to live off my neighbor hell no. but that being said it's not fair to the kid I can almost symbolize....!
The claim is that the USA is a Xtian nation. A faith that believes that their god will punish one group for the sins of another, goes to figure that Americans will punish a child for the sins of the parents.
@CentristFiasco That' s not the matter at hand. This has nothing to do with illegal immigrants financial aid. It's about CITIZENS paying for they're parents crime. @98bigbutt …if they're illegal, then they are ILLEGAL!!!!!! It's far easier to cross a land border illegally, than an ocean. The Northern states get illegal Canadians all the time, just not as many because Canada is a MUCH better place to live than the US.
as an out-of-state student i have no sympathy for these people. how about getting rid of in-state tuition altogether? all in-state tuition does is encourage people to stay in mommy and daddy's back yard and not see any other part of the country. if anything they should have to pay more.
@froggymicwop hahah sorry that is retarded, dude the reason why states have in-state tuition rates is because they want students to have the chance to go to a university, and because if they have lived in the state for a proscribed amount of time their families or the person has paid taxes in that state that fund the system. You're just mad because you have to pay more but don't ruin it for others.
Surely this would not stand up in a Federal court. They're fucking citizens, and their parents do all the shit work for shit pay you Pugs don't want to do. Get the fuck over it already!
I understand where people who push for this are coming from. They're concerned about Immigrants coming over who are pregnant or planning to have kids very soon after arrival, and therefore those individuals get full citizenship benefits.
It makes sense to try to counteract and disincentivise that... but at the same time... C'mon! Really?! This is their idea to addres this? As Cenk said, its punishing them for the sins of the parents... NOT... COOL.
@tytuniversity Most often in-state tuition is based on if you have contributed to the state via taxes. If I were to move to florida tomorrow my dependent kid wont get in-state tuition until I have established my residency and usually meaning you have FL tax returns. The standard for most state tuition waivers is just like this immigrant or not. Once these kids are considered independent students they should be eligible for in-state tuition.
I am not really sure I agree with the dream act passed in Cali but this shit is worse than that!!! There students are not only U.S. citizens they are resident of Florida. Utter Bullshit!!!!!
Why are poor people working and getting loans when they go to college? Don't they apply for financial aid? I know not everyone gets the same amount, but the amount people are getting for loans seem ludicrous.
it doesn't cover much, even with scholarships that pay tuition you still have the fees that often times outweigh the tuition in costs. I say if you're going to go to University do not study in America. Go to Europe or Asia for college. I wish more Americans took those options seriously. There are schools ranked in the top 50 in the world that are cheaper than state universities in the US!!!
Jeez, the kids of 'illegal aliens' have to be punished because a bunch of right-wing dipshits can't just GET OVER IT and stop acting like the CHILDREN of illegal immigrants themselves 'crossed the border' and shit.
There's that good old Adam and Eve original sin-style retribution. Conservatives LOVE IT, don't they?
Or if you're unlucky enough to be born in a poor area, esp. if right-wingers try bullshit like 'school choice', which just does not work and has no actual prescriptions regarding CURRICULUM (what students should actually learn and/or how to teach it most effectively).
Or if you happened to be convicted just for smoking a little herb. THAT can really give you a lot of problems that even convicted killers don't have, I think.
The US needs to change the policy on citizenship, just because you are born in a country should not dictate your citizenship. If I was to have a child in Germany, that child would be an American, you need have 1 parent be a citizen to be considered German. Such is the policy of most countries, the US should follow suit, and then less kids would feel this sense of entitlement. I am for education, but come here and do it legally.
If you are born here, you are a citizen. Jus soli is the policy of most countries especially industrialized, first world countries. The Constitution supports these citizens, and the government is obligated to respect their citizenship/
@nerhu59 That does't matter though. Our constitution defines them as citizens therefore they should be treated like ones and are entitled to ALL their American rights. You may not like the policy, and it is completely within your rights to fight this policy, but you need to change the constitution first before taking rights away from these kids. If the constitution said both parents also need to be american, then I would respect that and disagree with TYT on this one. BUT IT DOESN'T SAY THAT.
If people are trying to get into this country, then it means we have something to offer. We should be proud of that, not trying to diminish it. People need education. That is the only way we can make a better world for the rest of us.
What's with all these ignorant statements, they see illegal immigrant and dont bother to understand what's actually going on this story is about legal kids born here but if they have illegal parents they are at a loss
then why won't Florida charge higher tuition for students whose parents run meth labs or rob banks? And you wanna know something crazier? The children of the Wall Street crooks who crashed the economy also get luxuries BEYOND in state tuition...they may get legacy admissions or full ride scholarships!
We aren't punishing them for the sins of their father/mother. I don't care if they WERE born in the US, do they have a social security number or a visa? Fuck no they don't. This is one thing I disagree with TYT on. They aren't American citizens, and I don't want them getting special treatment like american citizens. It's not that illegal immigrants are bad people, because most are not. At the same time, if I had to choose to give tax dollars to a citizen or an illegal, the citizen wins always.
@acewings221 US Constitution, Amendment 14 section 1: any person naturally born within the US is a citizen. So yes, the kids of illegals are citizens if they were born here, which is the case in this situation. But to say that these kids are not citizens is just wrong on every level. It is clearly and specifically defined by federal law. I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just saying these CITIZENS should be treated like all the other citizens who were born here.
@acewings221 And it is completely okay to disagree with that amendment. It doesn't make it any less legal though. If you want a different citizenship policy, then go ahead and fight for reform. But until that law is changed, these kids in Florida are citizens. I don't mind anyone who wants to change something in the constitution. What I mind is when people take action before the constitution is changed (thus violating it), just because they don't agree with it. That's my point.
Yeah, what a horrible way to treat illegal aliens. If you discriminate against ILLEGAL aliens, you're a racist! Only a racist would think people from other countries should respect our laws, or at least not leach off public funds!
@doctorrhys They want to keep residents in the state. By giving them lower tuition that encourages them to stay instead of going to another school out of state.
Why the fuck does it matter if they're immigrants we're all immigrants , we are allowed go to other countries to get an education, why are we stopping people from coming to the U.S ?
@vickatoriaa hey hey hey if we all just got to go around willy nilly from county to county living with all cultures of the world how the fuck would governments know who to go to war with
@ZKoftherebellion You think the majority of the population of your country are illegal immigrants? Really? What is the population of your country? And how many is a mjority? 51%? 80%?
THis is unconstitutional, 14th Amendment, Section 1. THis is the law of all these United States of America. Florida is a state the last time I checked.
@Chaoitcme You would think all legislatures would be aware of Constitutional law and work to keep court costs at a minimum. What can I say? Glad I don't live there and I hope the lawsuit is a win for those being denied equality.
this is unconstitutional. civil rights are conferred by birthright or naturalization. these students, as citizens of the usa, must be treated as all citizens are or it is a violation of their civil rights. whoever thought this would fly was a complete moron.
@savlovesringostarr Actually I disagree, I live in Canada and what I see is US issues trickle to Canada. Right now we pay a shit ton to go to University of Toronto or McGill. Right now the best countries to live in Europe because the have the cheapest education and it's more peaceful there.
@moocows111111 Canadians do not pay a shit ton in comparison to Americans. Tuition in America is about double of a Canadian school. But yes Europe is where to go for affordable schools. I was thinking about going over to Scotland to get my masters. I hear that tuition there is really affordable and I would be able to work there because it is part of the Common Wealth.
@Chaoitcme You can even get PHD's in Italy for $2000 yearly at a high quality school. When I heard that from the professor my head almost exploded. I so need to learn Italian.
@flexlopez01 That is sounds awesome. You would also be able to work anywhere in the EU. I live in Canada, which is part of the Common Wealth. If I went to a foreign school I would want to go to one in part of the Common Wealth since I would be able to come back to Canada and work. I don't know if you are America but if you are I think you have to take additional courses in order to work in America with a foreign degree. I could be wrong but you should look into that. America is too expensive.
@Chaoitcme Unfortunately I live in the US regarding schools but it's not too hard to save up to leave to another country. I would love to go live in the UK regardless. You do have to take a few extra classes to convert your degree to an American one but that wouldn't be to hard since my main language is English. I really would like to seek out the education for a personal experience and development instead of looking for work. That makes UK schools more tempting.
@moocows111111 It depends where you go. If you go to a state school it is cheaper but if you go somewhere not funded by the state it is a lot more. My sister went to Rochester Institute of Technology and I believe that she was paying up to $20,000 a year just for her bachelors degree. That does not include books and other school supplies. I live in Canada and go to a well know school and I only pay at the most $4,000 a year. Big difference.
@Chaoitcme I go to U of T for life science and the cost for me is 14k and as for engineering the cost is at 18K. In general what you had told me, the difference by all means is pretty large at around (2000 dollars is no joke). Might I ask what program and university you are in for the $4000?
@moocows111111 I was enrolled as a computer science major at the University of Northern British Columbia but changed my degree to creative writing and fine arts. I am currently enrolled at Emily Carr University of Art and Design now. I got really tired of math and physics and decided to take what I enjoy to take. I may not find a job right away but I am doing what I want to do. Huge difference in prices. We do pay higher taxes here but I would rather pay higher taxes than be stuck with huge loan
@MrHav1k in state tuition is given based on whether youre a resident of the state. instate. citizenship has nothing to do with instate tuition. universities are not the federal government or ins.
@MrHav1k They are not talking about giving instate tuition to illegals. These are people born in America meaning that they are American citizens. It does not matter if the parents were illegal.
@akakillza Medical and law degrees are generally the most difficult and longest. Engineering is also very difficult, but you can actually start practicing your profession in typical time, without the 8-12 years of school of law and medicine. This also greatly depends on the school, too.
But don't base any decision on any of this. Do what you love to do no matter what anyone says.
@akakillza I have been told that a nursing degree is one of the hardest due to the workload associated with it. Hardest degree is not set in stone though. A degree may be hard for someone but that same degree could also be easy for someone else.
I don't believe in the law that an individual is a citizen of whatever country they happen to be geographically born in. Only if one of the parents was already a citizen.

@vickatoriaa because other countries don't have a majority of their population being illegal immigrants.
ZKoftherebellion 4 months ago
@ZKoftherebellion You think the majority of the population of your country are illegal immigrants? Really? What is the population of your country? And how many is a mjority? 51%? 80%?

THis is unconstitutional, 14th Amendment, Section 1. THis is the law of all these United States of America. Florida is a state the last time I checked.
bobster451 4 months ago
@bobster451 That is why there are law suits happening over this.
Chaoitcme 4 months ago
@Chaoitcme You would think all legislatures would be aware of Constitutional law and work to keep court costs at a minimum. What can I say? Glad I don't live there and I hope the lawsuit is a win for those being denied equality.
bobster451 4 months ago
I thought that if you were born in America you were considered an American citizen even though that your parents are not America.

this is unconstitutional. civil rights are conferred by birthright or naturalization. these students, as citizens of the usa, must be treated as all citizens are or it is a violation of their civil rights. whoever thought this would fly was a complete moron.

wtf us has so much probs canada is better
savlovesringostarr 4 months ago 3
@savlovesringostarr Actually I disagree, I live in Canada and what I see is US issues trickle to Canada. Right now we pay a shit ton to go to University of Toronto or McGill. Right now the best countries to live in Europe because the have the cheapest education and it's more peaceful there.
moocows111111 4 months ago
@moocows111111 Canadians do not pay a shit ton in comparison to Americans. Tuition in America is about double of a Canadian school. But yes Europe is where to go for affordable schools. I was thinking about going over to Scotland to get my masters. I hear that tuition there is really affordable and I would be able to work there because it is part of the Common Wealth.
Chaoitcme 4 months ago 27
@Chaoitcme You can even get PHD's in Italy for $2000 yearly at a high quality school. When I heard that from the professor my head almost exploded. I so need to learn Italian.
flexlopez01 4 months ago
@flexlopez01 That is sounds awesome. You would also be able to work anywhere in the EU. I live in Canada, which is part of the Common Wealth. If I went to a foreign school I would want to go to one in part of the Common Wealth since I would be able to come back to Canada and work. I don't know if you are America but if you are I think you have to take additional courses in order to work in America with a foreign degree. I could be wrong but you should look into that. America is too expensive.
Chaoitcme 4 months ago
@Chaoitcme Unfortunately I live in the US regarding schools but it's not too hard to save up to leave to another country. I would love to go live in the UK regardless. You do have to take a few extra classes to convert your degree to an American one but that wouldn't be to hard since my main language is English. I really would like to seek out the education for a personal experience and development instead of looking for work. That makes UK schools more tempting.
flexlopez01 4 months ago
@Chaoitcme Might I ask how much is American tuition?
moocows111111 4 months ago
@moocows111111 It depends where you go. If you go to a state school it is cheaper but if you go somewhere not funded by the state it is a lot more. My sister went to Rochester Institute of Technology and I believe that she was paying up to $20,000 a year just for her bachelors degree. That does not include books and other school supplies. I live in Canada and go to a well know school and I only pay at the most $4,000 a year. Big difference.
Chaoitcme 4 months ago
@Chaoitcme I go to U of T for life science and the cost for me is 14k and as for engineering the cost is at 18K. In general what you had told me, the difference by all means is pretty large at around (2000 dollars is no joke). Might I ask what program and university you are in for the $4000?
moocows111111 4 months ago
@moocows111111 I was enrolled as a computer science major at the University of Northern British Columbia but changed my degree to creative writing and fine arts. I am currently enrolled at Emily Carr University of Art and Design now. I got really tired of math and physics and decided to take what I enjoy to take. I may not find a job right away but I am doing what I want to do. Huge difference in prices. We do pay higher taxes here but I would rather pay higher taxes than be stuck with huge loan

That HAS to be illegal.

@MrHav1k But they're not illegal. Their children can be legal if they are born in the United States.

MrHav1k 4 months ago
@MrHav1k in state tuition is given based on whether youre a resident of the state. instate. citizenship has nothing to do with instate tuition. universities are not the federal government or ins.
payasoinfeliz 4 months ago
@MrHav1k they are not illegals they are born in the united states
ArenThomasian 4 months ago
@MrHav1k They are not talking about giving instate tuition to illegals. These are people born in America meaning that they are American citizens. It does not matter if the parents were illegal.

neverfearchrisishere 4 months ago
@akakillza i um think what your talking about is a doctorate degree??
want2thinkfree 4 months ago
@akakillza Medical and law degrees are generally the most difficult and longest. Engineering is also very difficult, but you can actually start practicing your profession in typical time, without the 8-12 years of school of law and medicine. This also greatly depends on the school, too.
But don't base any decision on any of this. Do what you love to do no matter what anyone says.
jawayetti 4 months ago
@akakillza I have been told that a nursing degree is one of the hardest due to the workload associated with it. Hardest degree is not set in stone though. A degree may be hard for someone but that same degree could also be easy for someone else.
