  • Lol I found a sound-card thing with this song in it in Carlton Cards. XD I was playing it throughout the store and when I got home, too. The batterie died cuz I played it so much, but I can't help but burst out laughing when I hear "Dance with me!" XD

  • why do things change....why is the world so much worse then when i was growing up....how i miss being young and care free

  • Makes me yearn for another place and another time. A simpler, more carefree one. 1975. It was another world. Thanks for posting. :-)

  • @doorswhofan WOW. Talk about the same feeling. If there was a time machine I would go back to the 70's.

  • transitional care facility ernie robert taylor dolly michelle lol. biometrics bloomington indiana

  • I was born in 1988, way after this song was released. But I have a dad who played songs like these whilst I was growing up. I just love the sheer magic in every line and instrument.

One of my sort of small fantasies is to dance to this song with my future husband (even if I can't dance so well. LOL!). Maybe, one day!

  • My first introduction to this wonderful song was on the John Peel Show in the 70's. And along with Poco's Rose of Cimarron ( try it out ) remains one of my all time nostalgia treats. Both get regular air play on BBC Radio 2 thanks to Ken Bruce,Steve Wright and Johnny Walker. Great singalongs when driving.

  • Such a beautiful song, reminds me the first girlfriend I had, great moments love the harmonica sequence, thanks for posting.

  • Yes.....music is like a time machine for me.....this track plus Brian Protheroe (PINBALL) and Pheobe Snow (POETRY MAN) never leaves my mp3 player

  • Every time I try to sing"Dancing Queen" I break into this song instead.

  • @jhietter hahaha "Dancing Queen... I want to be your partner can't you seee ..." etc

  • One of the best songs of 1975, and that whole era. Timeless. Nostalgic.

  • I remember hearing this song on the day of my 14th birthday party. I was having a REALLY bad hair day, but this INCREDIBLE song overtook all of my insecurities about my appearance. It's too bad that this quality of music is of a bygone era; I feel sorry for the current generation of teenagers and the so-called "music" that they have to endure listening to...

  • How can you feel happy and sad at the same time when listening to this song?

  • @MrBiggoolie

there are many songs of this era/genre that do that to me...i want to cry then I turn around and I smile and think about a childhood memory....it's crazy. maybe I'm crazy...

  • @vivandav67 then I am crazy too coz i feel the same

  • Great Song

  • For some reason I love this song... It makes me remember when I was young and I used to have fun dancing with the boys... It wasn't to music of this kind, I was a teen in the 90's. But I love this song, the melody is so uplifting!!!

  • Bass Line is AMAZING

  • @mix2up78 Totally agree with you. A fabulous acoustic guitar riff, tight vocal harmonies, all underpinned by THAT bassline. Pure magic.

  • I so miss you ALI. I hope you read this. I really miss ya

  • reminds me of Ernie at TCF

  • :)

  • esta cancion es un clasico

  • glad u put this song .. ppl will be lovin Orleans foever!

  • i love this song, and although it's hard to beat the original, i'd love to hear a bluegrass version of it, like say, Allison Krauss and Union Station, very talented musicians and could really do a song like this justice.

  • This is a great post from a wonderful group that I grew up to as a young teenager! Thanks so much for posting this! BobbyK

  • @bobby7771117 2 versions of this song one with a harmonica solo and one with a soprano sax solo i found the sax solo version on animport album

  • How can you not smile, and feel good with the world when you hear this. Be safe folks.

  • I remember singing this at the top of lungs back in the day, still do it whenever it comes on!

  • Gang, let's set the record straight. Larry Hoppen is the lead singer, NOT John Hall! Orleans hit #6 in Billboard, 10-18-75. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • I just heard this song for the first time to day (cut me a break, I was born in 1990 X-P ) I just happened to be flipping through the music stations on my TV, and something about this song literally just made me stop. By the time the song was over i was like "Wow, I HAVE to find this song!!"

I ADORE soft rock songs from the 70's ( I'm named after the Steely Dan album 'Aja' even) I'm glad I found this song, it lights me up on the inside <3

  • @CxHxRxIxSxTxIxAxN From the sound of it, you have excellent taste in music. And, Aja is one of my favorite albums of all time.

  • @CxHxRxIxSxTxIxAxN very well said indeed, good music is both timeless and ageless :)

i react to this song the same way automatic joy

  • R.I.P. Wells Kelly, drummer for Orleans

  • so the 70's weren't total crap after all. i still feel ripped off being born in the 80s. sure there was some decent music, but not the same kind of music. even though the 70s were a CF, there was still some semblance of innocence and hope, which has been all but destroyed since then. thank you for this window to what once made this country great.

  • @knucklehead0202 I totally agree with your comment. Hope seems gone nowdays, and it's reflected in the s*#t these little morons call "music."

  • @CFMD28 . Jesus is my only hope and he brings me joy and peace because this was the best it will ever get and I appreciate that but I know there is life after this one. God bless

  • One of those great tunes that helps define the 70's....thanks for posting!

  • when they say dance with me it sounds like the tune in dancing queen .

  • I remember having the greatest times of my life when this song first came out.Frampton was great to listen to also.I had lots of fun at outdoor parties.I loved riding my 1975 Suzuki TM400 dirtbike to the outdoor parties and somebody would always have a radio and during the course of the night you would hear this song played at least once. The 70s were the best times of my life. The that beats it was the day my son was born.

    Thanks for being born joey.

    Love,Dad

  • I don;t know a whole lot about this group but it's one of those songs I always keep on the radio because no matter what is going on in my life, I never find this song offensive in any way, it's just easy listening music from the seventies.

  • Wonderful music.

If only life is always this beautiful.

  • It's a great song, Hall always did have a knack for melodies, and other things, but life is beautiful. Be more positive and you'll find that out for yourself.

  • Either this song, or Still the one, finished at #2 on charts, beaten by the legend that was

    Disco Duck.

  • toyotas2006: Wow! I didn't know that! Perhaps this marvelous song was bested by Disco Day way back when -- but to this day people remember THIS song, not the duck's salute to the disco craze. Thanks for the trivia!!

  • I agree with you,

We are living lack art music (business class music)

  • and songs that are just for hooks and dont tell stories i mean i wish iwas born around this time when music was this good

  • Just superb harmonies and instrumentation on this song have made it one of my very favorites! In terms of music, it hardly gets better than this.
