Something that might be extremely interesting about Bane is that is less known than, let's say, Penguin or Freeze. As such, I believe he'll be much more terrifying as a villain. Ledger's Joker was great, but he wasn't frightning: he was awesome. He was the Joker, the more horrible he was, the more pleased we were. But Bane...since he's less famous, his actions will feel even more terrible to us than if he was one of the more colorful supervillains.

Alfred used a sledge hammer in Batman Begins to test the mask. Im not saying thats how hard Bane punches but it takes a great amount of force to break the mask off.

@Roody: Couldn't disagree more. Bane's luchador mask, venom tubes and mutant muscles were holding the character back. I, for one, did not want to see a Bane from the cartoons and video games in Nolan's Universe. A few artists from the comics got Bane right (standing at 6'2-6'3 and weighing in at 260-280 lbs). Now that Bane has overcome his venom-addiction in the comics, Nolan & Co. were able to roam free with the character.

In the trailers for TDKR we've seen Jim Gordon BEGS Batman to comeback. If anything, Wayne wants Too little to do with Batman. He just wants to clean up Gotham and then be normal. He's not obsessed with the costume.
