Try to use very stick gauge, or even hangers will work! In addition, plus sized stockings tend to work the best. You can get them for about $5 at Target :)

the smaller the number the stronger the wire. so 8 gauge is stronger than 12, and so on

@Quiz1master5 Ducktape really helped me. But use it sparingly, because it can bulk up the base of your wings.

@lollyblackheart 14 or 16 gauge wire. If you want sturdier wings, go for the smaller gauge. You can find it at your local hardware store like Home Depot or Osh. Wire hangers work well too, but they won't work in your favor if you want completely straight wire.

I'm surprised the burns from the incense don't tear or get bigger during use. When I wear stockings like these and tear them accidentally, the tears just keep getting bigger and bigger. Does anyone ever made wings this way and could tell me if they can last or if they completely tear after a couple of times wearing them? Sorry if it doesn't make sense, English isn't my first language ^.^

@ZipMeOff I think that it actually melts the holes' edges so that they're sealed off. Nylon melts pretty easily, I think (so does polyester--my friend and I tested this on her front porch once), so I think that it's okay; I'm pretty sure most stockings are made of nylon.
