In reference to what Doom Sc0t said, Iron maiden is a great band but Bruce Dickinson cant even compare to Tony Kakko in terms of vocals, Tony has a much better voice and is by far a better singer in terms of what appears to be raw talent and skill as well as confidence and stage presence. And Dave Murray cannot even come close to Jani Liimatainen, Jani is by far the better guitarist and so far as i can seel Sonata Arctica in general has a stronger feel about them as well as stage presence. ^.^

Sure technical ability comes into account, but eventually a lot of guitarists get to the technical level where they can do pretty much anything they want, they just choose not to. Just because Jani is more influenced by pure shred than Dave Murray or the rest of Maiden doesn't mean hes better. Murray has a different, more bluesy solo style. But dont deny that Maiden can shred, just because they dont play fast often doesnt mean they cant.

Okay, a usefull lesson is to know, at least, a little bit about something before you discuss it with others on Youtube. Maiden were one of the first heavy metal bands ever, except for Sabbath and Judas Priest and those guys, and therefore, they cannot be mainstream. Unia is more complex and progressive. Ofc the older songs are also hard to play cause they have fast solos,difficult chords and stuff but they are more like verse,chorus,verse,chorus. I've also heard he had to join the army, but then Tony (from what i've heard) didn't want to wait 2 years for him to get back, he wanted to continue with the music they made, so they hired a new gun ;) . And this is just from what i've heard. I saw them live a couple of months ago, and they did not have an especially good scene prescence, good music but could have been more entertaining.

I read in an interview that Jani had gone to jail for evading military service, but that it was only for 2 months. Now Jani is in a new band called Dream Asylum.
