  • i think this song is not suitable for the significant bass sound ,isn't it?

  • Love all your videos. Your bass sound is really good. What kind of amp are you using?

  • what bass is that

  • @MrJaxreid - Kubicki Ex-Factor

  • y make a video if we cant see ur fingers playing?

  • is factor you re bass ?

  • how did john do the bass for wild boys on that gig.did he switch that at the top from the solo to the actual bass throught the song.cheers.

  • @duranasty - He used digital delay to do both parts at once. A quick single slap on top and then a thump at them bottom and the delay repeats it for you.

  • Hey Zuma did you ever think about doing One Of These Days bass by Pink Floyd !?

I got first part because it is easy ,but second part I am not to happy about it.

Maybe you can help us ? I am sure many bass player find that bass line amazing.

Thank you for all of your videos!!!!

  • @markuz6971 - I don't think I have heard it. I will look it up! You're Welcome!

  • ciao zuma, grazie a te ho imparato a suonare molte canzoni dei duran duran con il basso.mi piacerebbe vederti suonare anyone out there e ordinary world.

  • Great ! Great! Great ! Zuma.....I'm you fan !!!!

  • Thanks again Zuma, there are only few bass players in this world with the real Bernards- Taylor feel.

You got it ! And that is a very big compliment !

  • @Kenmarcelis - Coming from you especially Ken, I know that is saying a lot. I will keep to trying to do Bernards/Taylor justice!

  • Been watching a few of your videos. Nice Duran Duran covers

  • @AussieBassist - Thanks for your hilarious response to that rude poster. I deleted that whole thread but I just wanted to say I loved it.

  • Thanks so much for posting, this is great! It could have just been me, but when I tried to play along to the studio version years ago it was really difficult to make out the notes (I play by ear, can't read music), so I kinda gave up at the time :) But you've solved the mystery for me, thanks again!

  • Very nice. Its all there. This man is very good.

  • Hola Zumaz!, it has been great learning bass since your remarkable discovery, still trying to master ghost notes and a part that is difficult to me in a view to a kill, from 2:50 to 3:22... that pum-ba bum-ba, please tell some tips on how to master this imposible to me. thanks!

  • those (pum-ba bum-ba ) are octaves

example hit C (3rd fret on A string and than C (6 fret on G string)...now you can move up or down the neck..

  • @markuz6971 - Exactly, that's how you play them. I recommend index finger and pinkie but do whatever feels comfortable. You are not the first one to describe them as pum-ba bum-ba. I sometimes say pa-rum-ba bum-ba myself! I think it's hilarious we have our own slang terms.

  • @zumazmusic Thank you Zuma!!!! I learn great deal because of you

  • @markuz6971 - You are most welcome! Thank You for the comment!

  • there are songs I dont care for and this is one. But i focus on the bass and i love it. i admire the will it takes to be that good with bass

  • this is amazing dude you're really good at bass I'm envious

  • Awesome how you manage to get that same Taylor feel into the bass.

    Amazing !

  • Well dOne maybe you can do "Falling down" or "What Happens tomorrow"

  • a joke, guy

the real composer of this title is john barry

  • You're right in that It was a co-write but a joke? C'mon man! Are you saying Duran had other people write ALL those other hits as well? Either way this is a focus on the bass line, not the song itself. Thanks for stopping by.

  • @ eightiessrules:

A real composer of "A View to a Kill" is Duran Duran. When Duran Duran wrote and brought up this song to the studio, John Barry changed only one minor chord and added orchestral arrangement. That's all.

  • I saw one of these gigs - Wembley Arena- I think it was May 21, 1987...amazing version of View to a Kill to start

  • You can replace John.

  • still have mine in white.....great sound

  • @Paulkiotobjj - an Ex-Factor in white is a beautiful thing.

  • Re Re Re RESpect......!!

You gone too far this time

But Im dancing on the valentine.;0)

  • Next time John Taylor quits Duran Duran, Simon Lebon should get your number.

  • @pareho - "Next time John Taylor quits Duran Duran, Simon Lebon should get your number." This is my fantasy. ;+)

  • Well done. Thank you for sharing this.

  • Notable Bernard Edwards influence on John Taylor for this bassline. Would had loved to have "Bnaaard" teaching me bass lessons. Excellent video, love the Kubicki.

  • Zuma,

    Trabalho fantástico. Mãos divinas. (portuguese)

    (Fantastic job. Divine hands)

    Girls om Film também!

    Girls on film too!

    Parabéns!

    (Congratulations!)

    Carlos Bayma

  • great job ZUMA...no comments....YOU ROCK MATE.....

  • You're still the undefeated YouTube King of Bass... GO ZUMA GO

  • My first Kubicki is on the way!!! Whoo Hooo!!! I've wanted one of those for YEARS!!!! Such TONE!!!!

  • New Kubicki or used?

  • Oh used, of course. I wanted one desperately, but I need to eat, too...

  • it's the working for the skin trade world tour...the guy is playing to the vhs version (brilliantly)of a view to akill live. I remember john taylor staying on that C note and thinking..is that all that classic song took to sound? Obviously not...well done zuma

  • i like your teaching style..

    thanks a lot..

  • Your basses sound great.

    What amp/effects do you use?

  • Nice!... sounds great, and the best Bond song of 'em all.

  • hey dude...YOU ROCK!!! GREAT!!

  • Very tight! Great sound!

  • Zuma is that a fretless bass? Either that or it's a very low action bass. Great job man as always!

  • Well spotted! It's not a fretless but I have this Factor set for pretty low action.

  • heh thanks. Sometimes when the action is too high like when I first got my bass before I had it adjusted it made it hell for me to even pluck the E and A strings once. I got a knack for music and instruments. I just hope sometime in the not too far future I'll get to be somewhere near your level of expertise.

  • Nice! You nail JT's tone perfectly!

  • Well done! Very good and I love how you play it.

  • Yeah do PLanet Earth on bass. im sure with your set up it would sound killer plus the timing is too fast on that song.

  • Duran Duran's best song by far.

  • woah! I never realized what this song sounds like on bass! When you played it I found it quite... AWESOME! I mean that rocked! What songs are you putting up next? :) Please more Duran Duran!

  • please do Planet Earth

  • Do Planet EartH!!!!!

  • WOW, THANK YOU very much for covering one of my favorite Duran Duran songs. You did an impecable job! Do you have the tab for this song? btw, can you do a cover of planet earth PLEASE!!!! the bass rocks on that song.

    cheers

  • amazing. Were can i find that version of A View to a Kill?

What is the concert name? or Video name?

  • I think the DVD is called "Working for the Skin Trade." I had it on videotape long ago and I just got the DVD on eBay. Send me a message...

  • Amazing work, every time I take a look to one of yours clips, I understand why J. Taylor is a really good bassist...

  • superb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Slappington-that's a brilliant idea! I'd love to hear New Religion, too! That's one of my favortite bass lines ever. Also, the night version of "My Own Way" would be superb! Great job!!!

  • New Religion - soon!

  • cool love my factor still have it but an aria would be nice do you find it easier to play on??I also have a rick fretless

  • The Aria SB1000 has a relatively thick neck. Even so, it is very comfortable to play BUT the overall instruments is pretty heavy. A good strap is a must. Your Rick is kind of like an Aria neck if it were shaved down a bit.

  • yeah its have but very easy tp play when I saw it was fretless I just had to buy it it has such a nice sound and the neck is easy to play also the neck has a finish on it so it sounds diff.from a regular fretless pluss I use nylon strings makes it sound....like wood

  • Cool! Thanks for posting. The bass line sounded different that what I could actually hear during the song. Great job. I have a Duran Duran request as well: "Save a Prayer"!

  • Thanks! Remember, this is the live version. The album bass line is different in the verses. I'm sure I'll do Save a Prayer one day.

  • You own a Aria pro II, Kubicki Ex factor and a peavey liberator JT series, so are u goin to get a Peavry cirrus bass guitar later on, just like the 1 JT using it now.

I always dream of buying a aria pro II bass guitar that my dream bass.

  • I would love a Cirrus but I have enough basses at the moment! I would also love a Bossa bass or an F-bass.

  • Sounds Great!!! I would like to request "New Religion" from Duran Duran if you know that song. Thanks

  • AVTAK live version's bass lines played on a kubicki! That's poetry!

  • One extra star for wearing a Chewbacca T-shirt!

  • Great Job! The bass parts are what first drew me to Duran Duran music back in 1982

  • man man great made, i just looked for a kubicki bass, but i had to see your performance till the end.

  • Really Nice Job! Thanks.

  • Thanks Again!
