is it hard driving there in the winter? I mean, I know you guys hardly have any snow, or at least not that much. so is it easy driving on the icy roads?
we don't have hills in Canada yes we do are you kidding i live in a Vally where your going up hill or down hill depending which way you going this is very pathetic what is wrong with the vehicles why is everyone acting like its the twilight zone when it snows i don't get it
That's a half inch. I was there that year, I'm from the Sierras. That shit was weak, you might have had an icey 2008, but that winter you guys all abandoned your cars and it was melted by the AM.
Just to clear things up I live in Portland and know what storm this was.You all seem to think I am in the mid west. No so. I also said that people here freak out over 1 inch of snow which is true. I never said this storm only had an inch. Geez chill out !!
This was a crazy day! The weather called for rain and mild temps but out of nowhere, the temperature dropped 12-13 degrees just after noon, it stared to snow, and the entire city and all the suburbs, eastside and westside, came to a standstill on the roads because nobody was prepared. I stayed home.
Studded tires destroy the roads....besides the weather report on this day called for rain, not snow, it was a freak storm right in the middle of rush hour traffic. It closed down most major highways, the airport and left several people stranded all over the city.
yeah but i pay for the roads to be built,so does oregon tax payers. so wouldnt u destroy a little bit of somthing u pay for rather then other peoples cars. make sence>? lol
HAHAHA. I cant believe how people freak out over an inch of snow! This is hilarious! I am send ing to all my friends in the midwest so they can get a chuckle!
It wasn't an "inch of snow" storm total put it at 8 inches when it was done. It was supposed to RAIN, no one was prepared for snow, it was 45 degrees out in the morning and by rush hour it was 34 degrees and mixed.
@decodecals ... I wish we got the dry, powdery, sticky snow like in the midwest. The snow we get here in Portland is wet and slippery, and usually has ice underneath.
@decodecals You don't have the hills that we have here. And believe me, i've driven in snow all across this country, the snow here is much slicker. And as mentioned before, it usually has ice underneath it. 6 inches of snow in Kansas is easy to drive in, 1 inch here is nearly impossible. Add to that the fact that we don't salt the roads.
I know exactly where this is! I hope FedEx is planning on paying for the damage their driver caused to my road. I didn't pay my tax dollars to have some idiot rip holes in my pavement with his chains! That street only goes another block or so, he could have walked the package up to the house.
Your tax dollars pay for more than just roads, and your measly fraction of the tax dollars wouldn't fill a pot hole, so cry about it some more. Call FedEx at 1.800.463.3339 and lodge a complaint you sniveling little whiner.
You're apparently in one of those odd areas of the country where it really doesn't make much sense to buy snow tires because you get so little snow. On the other hand, everyone insists on driving when they and their vehicle are not up to the task, which is not good.
Too funny. Thanks for posting. I could smell the panic. And since I have no life, I was following the walk on Google Maps Street View too.

personal experience, kansas drives suuuuuck. And in a city with hills everwhere like Portland, a little bit of ice ruins any drivers day.

we've had our fair amount of snow here in P-town. but, like you said, ppl just don't have the adequate cars to maneuver around the snow like that.

When I saw the tires of the FedEx truck spinning I immediately thought of our taxes and what we pay to fix Oregon roads go down the drain.
