  • Wow.... I cannot count that :/ I have to learn that :P Love your videos...

  • @FinBoyXD oh thanks bro! It's definitely tough to get the counting for this kinda stuff down when you're learning it, just take it slow!

  • ur vids really open my playing up to time changing. thanks man.

  • If the kick drum pattern isn't random, but goes with the guitar riff, then when you displace the beat with the snare, you shuold obviously keep the kick in the same place it was.

  • I like cheese...

  • love your teaching, your playing, your dennis chambers like tom setup, and (i guess it'd be gay to say i love it) i like your sonor tattoo as well...pretty cool idea to endorse something :D

  • @c0d3x001 Thanks a lot, man! To be clear on that tattoo, I've been endorsed by Sonor since 2007 and I got the tattoo in 2009 :P It was the direct result of me getting my beech heavy SQ2 kit (hasn't been in videos yet). It sounded so incredible I was speechless. I decided the only way to cope with what I was hearing was to tattoo the logo badge on my neck!

  • @aaronedgardrum yeah the sq2's are probably the best sounding drums ever(otherwise gavin harrisson probably wouldn't play them)...that's a good reason to get a tattoo like that xD

  • will you be doing any marching?

  • @Styxdrumcovers I wasn't planning on doing any marching, but I won't rule it out! My goal was to have my channel, at least for the six months be pretty much entirely on odd rhythmic stuff!

  • mind = blown

  • really makes sense at the end

  • I can barely hear you.....can you CC this or trying next time speak closer to the mic? ty

  • i appreciate the fail at the end! you are mortal after all

  • @Speedsta14 I had a couple people say I made stuff look too easy, so I figured the fail would be appreciated :P

  • Awesome buddy! Displacements own. I especially love that fail at the end tho :P.

  • M y h e a d h u r t s. . . .

  • DisMuthaFuckinPlacement!!!!!

  • Great video, very helpful and useful, you're a great teacher, thanks!

  • awesome kit mate

  • @holman26 Thanks bro! I've been obsessed with Sonor since I was sixteen years old! Now that I can afford to play whatever I want, it's held true to what I always imagined they'd sound and feel like to play!

  • 6:21 I found it easier to follow along to that beat then the others

  • @Tintamar5678 Awesome! So that'll likely be something that clicks in your head easier, you'll be able to incorporate it into your playing quickly if you can hear it right! :)

  • Awesome! That was beautifully explained, I can't wait for you to move on to 16ths and other displacements, IMO thats where it begins to get insane :D I love all this stuff, but I don't practice it as much as I should because it drives everyone insane if they're trying to play along, haha. No matter how obvious you make the pulse, sometimes people just don't get what's happening :D

  • @LukeSnyderMusic haha! It's totally true, you need a special kinda band to be able to grit their teeth against 16th displacement... or do you? Wait and see next week what we can do with it ;)

  • @aaronedgardrum Well, of course you can do short portions of displacement, haha. But I'm talking about sustained displacements. They're generally not well accepted :D

  • Great lesson!

  • @Volentry thanks!
