  • The best I have heard the bagpipes was in Glencoe. The sound echoed back from the hills and for once there were no vehicles about to ruin it. It was heaven on earth. I have seen bagppers there since, but it never sounded the same as that day.

  • Okey, somebody please explain me 'cos I didn't understand: is this a traditional piece or a McCartney's original composition?

  • @chompypunk890 This is MACCA's Mull of Kintyre. They've used the original pipe and drum solos and adapted the entire song to be played on the bagpipe. It's pretty good and 100% faithfull to MACCA's song.

  • OH MIST ROLLING IN FROM THE TRENT MY DESIRE IS ALWAYS TO BE, OH CITY GROUND :`)

  • Does anyone know where I can get the bagpipe sheet music for this rendition?

  • how come 4 people dont like this.... its amazing, thumbs up

  • gives me chills down my spine every time the drums come in brrr

  • I love that man. and his beard oin the the beginning.

  • Thank you for this post - I love the original by Wings (used to ask Dad as a kid "Daddy, put Infrom on" (his record of this song, didn't know at that age it was called Mull Of Kintyre) but there's something about the bagpipes that's makes it all the more haunting/ moving. I've often thought of this song and how when my Dad leaves this mortal coil I'll have a piper and a drummer to do it justice, at his funeral.

  • one of my favourite song, great

  • Paul is a genious

  • Hey everybody - listen to this very Old Scottish song - and tell me how good Paul McCartney is !!

Paste into your you tube browser "Shona Donaldson, Lauren MacColl, Mhairi Hall - Green Grows the Laurel"

  • Well done and nice !

  • Politics always seems to get in the way . . . That's until a lone Scottish piper cuts through all of the nonsense. God bless my family and friends fighting to keep my rights intact, i hope you come home soon to Scotland safe and well as do all the servicemen and women all over the world

  • beatles here, there and everywhere!

    happy 2011!

  • Oh my god. My Father works for over more than 27 Years for the British Army of the Rhine here in Germany and every time i hear this song i get goosebumbs and i must try not to cry. Damn this must be the genes or something.

  • 1.37 Peter KAy anyone?

  • Always so amazing.

  • Now that's a beard of great awesome.

  • Wonderful :-)))

  • To Googlegoat. If somebiody wants to use foul language then let them all you have todo is to report them. Now with that said, why dont you point all those that have no idea what the ÖRIGINAL"sounds like in the right direction and you upload to you tube a ccopy of the original so we all have something to compare with the ones we have to listen to on here. In fact I challange you to it if you have the balls

  • This brought a tear. I absolutely love it!

  • que cosa mas bella en el mundo . ser un gaitero.

pink floyd institulo una de sus obras nombrandola como

el gaitero a las puertas del infierno.

  • This is just Mull of Timperley by Frank Sidebottom and they changed it a little bit.

  • That was beautiful. Thank you.

  • Tempo too fast

  • gonna get me one of them damn fine big ass beards when I get old enough not to want the chicks. proper dandy I'll look I think.

  • Beard at 1:42 FTW!

  • Oh.... this so reminds me of my homeland......the hills and the glens. This is such a lovely part of the world.

  • Alba go bragh!

  • Long live Scotland!

  • only top ten(?) hit to have a bagpipe solo. i may have my info wrong so don't quote me.

  • What a great interpretation and of course the march of the hundred or so military and state/city bands in theseTattoos always are great. I will miss them when we move back to the states. we need these in America!

  • This is a great rendition of this song!

  • nice! XD

  • Also the Germans. I'm German and next year I want to begin playing the bagpipes... okay... but where... in Switzerland :D In Bale you can learn it.

  • Schottland ueber alles! I had a Swiss pal called Beat who used to dress up like a Highlander and the play the pipes. He played at a Burns night for us in Bern and sure enough after 9 o´clock die Polizei arrived because a neighbour had complained about the noise! Never mind. The Swiss and the Scots have a lot in common.

  • good on you oasis for the scam, i love it, and as for this load of twerps, they ahve ripped the soul out of a romantic song and turned it into the milatry goosestep, Stop meddling and trying to change perfection because you are not musically capable to play the original version!! and what is an organist doing a hidden in the back ground? this is pure hyped up rubbish!

  • Shut the f*** UP!!! What traditional scottish/British genre do you think inspired Macca to write the song in the FIRST place???Polka???? Daft poncy "ohhh, it were a ROMANTIC song they redid"?

Come back when you can post without yer melon up yer pooper...

  • my dear Trinitymike, the inspiration behind McCartney's creation for this song is irrelevant. The starting point for comparison is McCartney's original version, this version is souless, and over engineered, and adds nothing to the world of music unless performed to a bunch of drunken louts who think oooph haa music rocks... and as for that organ!! ps i hope you allow me to express my view without the need for such foul mouth language like yours which i have often heard in Bavarian beer halls.

  • Why, thank you. No scam intended, just trying to alert the pop-loving punters to the genius that is the original - and still the best - version of this ditty - "Mull of Timperley" by the immortal megastar Frank Sidebottom. Paul McCartney can only wish he wrote a song that good. Pure genius.

A Mull of Timperley polka would actually be rather fun!

  • roflao

  • Sehr herzlich. Schoen.

    Brian

    Duncan McCall Pipeband

    Pensacola, Florida

  • Scotty Beam me Up !!!

  • bloody good

  • This is a total ripoff of the song "Mull of Timperley" by Frank Sidebottom... probably also on YouTube somewhere...

  • no actually its a song written by paul mccartney

  • Oh, I know (McCartney and Denny Laine, in fact) - but Frank Sidebottom just blows it out of the water with the best reinterpretation EVER...

  • You're a cheerful little soul, aren't you? Apparently suffering from an irony deficiency... oh well!

    Will I stop posting? Perhaps.

Will I stop f*cking? No, it is far too much fun!

  • How charming and delightful! Thanks for stopping by.

  • yes 3/4 time..."waltzing kintyre",so to speak

  • My God, if the Pipes and Drums don't get your heart pounding-you're dead..

  • Afortunados ustedes que saben de donde son y que son... su raices son flores!!!

  • Very nice...the sound of the bagpipes always gie me goosebumps LOL

  • Not wean i play them.....

    LOL

  • LOL

  • german bagpipers

  • FABULOUS!!!!!

  • i sang this song with my friends.. they cried

  • @lamyar1990 why? its pish

  • @lamyar1990 Were you that bad?

  • I don't mean for this to sound stupid but is the 6/8 time or is this a waltz?

  • I looked at the sheet music, it's 3/4's.

  • @EmperorHilo Good ear. The tempo -about 112bpm- is what gives this performance the lilting, waltzy feel. Grab a partner & spin! A much more deliberate tempo of about 92bpm as original performance goes gives us the gently swaying feel. Kinda like some of us elder "ne'er do well" drunkards gathering for a singalong then trying to remember the words as we stumble along back to our respective abodes.

  • Paul McCartney Genio!!

  • awsome!!!

  • ABSOLUTEY FABULOUS

  • I put this to facebook and tried to play it there but the unavailable notice was there. Now I see why, embedding is turned off...seems like youtube will be working on fixing that business.

  • I've embedding now turned on :)

  • thanks, i have reposted it...this music is sooo sweet. I never tire of it.

    granskare :)

  • It is quite beautiful how one of the most despised musical instruments sounds so good when played in unison. Very nice.

  • absolutely a brilliant video. I'd not heard the pipes to be so sweet :)

  • ***** Winnie, thank you so much. A dream from better times.
