@masterofpuppets222 I agree - when I talk about them I somehow always refer to the Saprano's theme tune as not many know the band! Love them - touring November!!
i worked on this shoot..thats an elephant skull in engine oil on the table..Douglas Hart from Mary Chain directed it..brilliant track..'copied from The the' wtf are you talkin about..everything Alabama 3 DO is tops..
It's so ripped off from Matt Johnson of "The The" that I don't know how they can live with themselves. Then again, maybe they were some young guys just fooling around, imitating their hero(s) and never thought they'd get noticed. But if I got famous by doing this song I would feel like a bit of a skank for so blatantly stealing it..
@Zuppos123 I admit I initially thought the vocal was Matt Johnson, but the similarity to The The is pretty superficial - I think they owe as much to Mick Jones and BAD - their resemblance to either band is no accident - they are all Brixton based and fairly 'left wing' - all take their influences from country, hip hop, soul. They are far from being young either (younger than me I suspect) You should give their albums a listen, if you like Matt - you may well like these guys.
@SuperTechno420 They are 'A3' in the US - apparently there's a band called Alabama out there and they sought to avoid confusion - unfortunately though, their have been cases of people trying to purchase their records in stationary shops.... The album has a preamble about Charlie Mingus & John Coltrane - various jazz and blues greats, but this is essentially the same song, good innit? Who would have thought country and techno would find a home on the same album - hats off to them.
ALABAMA 3 ACOUSTIC AND UNPLUGGED ON TOUR THIS MARCH!
Visit the Alabama 3 website for more details
"With this line up they bring a whole new dimension to the songs made famous by Alabama 3. This isn’t acid house music, this is country/gospel/delta blues, but played with a rhythm you’ve still got to dance to."
Only bad thing about The Sopranos is that now, when I hear this song, I can't help but think of it from the point of view of a Mob boss.
I reckon the original story of the song is simply a guy who wakes up one morning and says to himself "fuck it" and goes on a mini killing spree, or possibly kills himself.
@icharmsonline - Bit harsh mate. This acid house meets country and western really wouldn't work with a sarf London accent. A fine band, one of the most original in recent years.
I can't lie. Everything about this video is a turn-on: men in lipstick, the last supper biblical imagery contrasted with utter decadence in every way...
All so deliciously dirty, adding an amazingly gritty sexual dimension to what was only a fucking badass song for me, before now.
I'ma enjoy this track even more now. (A chick, BTW)
i saw this on Simpson cartoon, that was amazing, sounds like punisher mafia Wow! i´ve thoght about my own family bussines hehehe!! MAtto opens my mind hihi!
@theSavageHippie - The version you're thinking of is the album version from 'Exile On Cold harbour Lane' . At the end here I was expecting him to go into 'and after 3 days drinking with Larry Love' etc. But he didn't. Stick with the LP I'd say ;-)
does anyone know where i can access the long version(video)? it starts with talking about "heading home down cold harbor lane, 3 in the morning, walk up the winding stairs" etc ...... the whole song goes for 7 or 8 minutes
Can somebody, anyone just tell me where the first person version of this song appears? It goes "Woke up this morning and got MYSELF a gun..." and I prefer it to this version. I thought it was done by Leonard Cohen, but apparently it's all this group. But I cannot find a freaking source for the first person version. Can anyone enlighten me?
@Pauliefemo Thanks, but I'm talking about the first PERSON version. Meaning the lyrics are talking about "I" and "myself" instead of "you" and "yourself". it is a slight remix of the song but is basically the same.

but this song has the same line in it.
on the newer sopranos they have a slightly different drum beat.
