I have had Swype and installed it when it first came out Got the new incredible and got on The Swype Beta with an invite installed it and I COULDN'T get it to work tried everything than you said check the tutorial and THAT WAS ALL IT TOOK

Hey this is a great informative video thank you. I like swype however there are times that I find it easier to use the regular keyboard. Do you know of any way to load the original Android keyboard onto the incredible. I absolutely hate the HTC keyboard. I am coming from the Droid and I just can't get use to the HTC keyboard. I've posted items on forums and I have had no luck. Let me know if you know of anything.  Thanks.

If your keyboard isn't showing after the tutorial (which isn't compulsory to use Swype), try these steps.

1. Install and Activate (video above)

2. Open new message (of any sort.)

3. Find the "Tap to Compose" bar.

4. Press and hold your finger on "Tap to Compose" to perform a "Long Press."

5. A window should pop up.

6. Select "Input Method"

7. Select "Swype"

Your Incredible should now use Swype as the default keyboard. To change back, perform same "long press" process and select "Touch Input"

@djnikel ShapeWriter has it's ups and downs, but using both, Swype is hands-down better at pattern analysis. ShapeWriter is a great free alternative, but it's accuracy fails in comparison. I do love the ability to change case structure in ShapeWriter though- wish Swype would do that.

hey i followed you instructions and got the swype keyboard but for some reason it showed me a pop up screen saying that "the swype keyboard you installed does not match the screen size of the device. please contact swype screen size 800x480" the swype keyboard works and i am able to type and swype but when ever i go into landscape mode that pop up shows up again. did this happen to you? thanks man

Hey I followed this tutorial and got the Swype program to work but whenever I swype something nothing appears in the text box. I can see the line as I trace the letters, but the text doesnt appear. Any ideas?

@DjZephy: If anyone was curious and had the same problem as me, you can go into the application that is using the keyboard, long press where you enter text, and a menu will pop and you can choose your input method. Switch back to the regular keyboard. Then, repeat the process and choose swype. It works amazingly well by the way and is suprisingly very easy to use

@daveeatworld if you have a task killer active it could cause stuff to get weird, also check out "text input" it's under the "language & keyboard". Swype should be selected.
