  • Shawmut Bank, my first bank account.

  • i havent hear the word shawmut in 20 years

  • Shawmut! That was like 7 banks ago. LOL.

Also remember how Celtics Tonight started up with that Phil Collins song.

  • Ah...the seeds of the Shawmut..ahem, the FleetCenter, ahem, Bank of America Center, ahem, the Derek Jeter Center, ahem TD Banknorth Garden, oops, TD Garden being sewn through corporate sponsorships. I lived off of Wood Ave back then...OK Corral-like atmosphere to say the least.

  • I love that song. Does anyone know who wrote it?

  • Catch the Celtics on 56! I still sing that in my head years later!

  • I have a tape with the same Gannet Ident and a promo for Celtics on 56 with the same logo from 1984. I guess things didn't change much over those four years.

  • Celtics TV on TV38 is a weekly recap show that airs Sunday nights at 10:30pm.

  • Actually punkghost21, TV38 later did Celtics road games, but all Celtic games home and away are now on Comcast Sportsnet (formerly SportsChannel and Fox Sports New England.)

  • I love the late-80s filmed animations. They were so advanced, and they almost always outclassed the contemporary CGI of the era (except the great stuff Pacific Data Images did for the networks...)

  • BTW, it has the "Catch the Celtics" jingle played under Tom Evans' voice-over!

  • Jack Hynes retired when Sunbeam bought channel 56. His last newscast was 12/18/06. 7News at 10 on CW56 premiered the next night, 12-19-06. Uma Pemmaraju later worked for WBZ, now she's at the Fox News Channel.

  • Thoughts:

Celtics lost 125-108 that night. The Pistons would also defeat them in the Eastern Conference Finals in six games that spring. The 1987-88 season was the last time the Celtics were the #1 seed in the East. They had a regular season record of 57-25.

Celtics road games were later on FOX25, then TV38, then WABU-68 for one season, now all Celtic games are on Comcast SportsNet.
