@jasprd67 There's not a phenomenal amount off difference truth be told. Just enough to justify the price difference I'ld say. Overall clarity seems to the most obvious difference. The low end seems to slightly more separated from the mid range & the high end is a heap more crisp. I think the difference may well be more/less noticeable depending on what sort of music you're playing really. I've yet to put any classical though it & I really think that would be where it would really pay off.
Awesome set up I have the same cartridge. I am seriously looking at getting a Jolida Tube amp once I get some other projects out of the way. Thanks for posting a vid of the Jolida amp.
@jasprd67 Thanks man. Yeah for the money, I have yet to find a better valve amp. In fact, if you double that money I've still get to find anything that comes close.
Time usually tell's with these things, but I've opened it up and it does all appear to be very well built.
Well B&W's tend to have quite a distinct sort of bite to their tone, some like it, some don't. I think its all relative to what you listen to at the end of the day. But Ive found that the warmth of the 802 kind of, not takes the edge off, but something I can't quite put my finger on. Like with rock and metal for example theres a deeper and clearer punch to everything where as with my old Tannoy's there seemed like there was some muddiness creeping in.
how much did you spent on all that?? Only thing- i hate look of those new turntables. I know they are good and all but Technics SL-1200 looks much better to me. ;)
@Laurentinio1 Well I got the turntable & amp sent to me but altogether it breaks down like this - Jolida 801s (£1600) Project 9.2 (£1700) B&W CM8 (£1200) Ortofon 2m black (£450) Speedbox (£100) Phono box (£150) Power box (£130) Chord company leads (£120) So about £5500 give or take? As far as the turntable goes I looked at a few. Michell, Rokean, Wilson benesch, but I prefer the minimalist look & build quality of Project. Besides I didn't have the need or want for a dj deck.
@RideWithTheDevilBlog WOW again :D All i have is Hitachi HT-355 table, AT91 cartridge, Technics SU-7700 integrated amp and Radiotehnika S-90B speakers. :( Not so great, but i am upgrading my system from time to time- last summer i had cheap Technics belt drive p-mount turntable. Now- direct drive with normal head. Next thing is going to be speakers- i think JBL E80 or E90 should be ok :)
How would you describe the sound difference between the Ortofon 2M blue and the Ortofon 2M Black that you replaced it with? Thanks

@Laurentinio1
Yeah its always best to build it up over time.
For the price JBL make some cracking speakers. I don't think you'll be disappointed with either the E80 or E90's to be fair.
