  • Hey Fighting Tigers....

  • @FRANCISnLA your dumb

  • @FRANCISnLA fight all the way

  • If George Carlin hated this song then he had absolutely no musical taste.

  • I can play the instrumental with my trombone

  • i can barely hear her voice over the instruments

  • I just love Lucy! :D

  • comparing george carlin to lucille ball is like comparing a raisin to a delicious bottle of wine they both come from grapes but lucille's body of work was a fantastic compared to george carlin who was just a little snack lol

  • I love this song! ^.^ My brother used to use it as his alarm, so i heard it every morning!

  • Very likable song.

  • what's 1:30 from? she looks sooo pretty!

  • Doesn't matter if she could sing - she made people laugh and that made her famous for all time!

  • This was her favorite songs from Wildcat. I read her book, "Love, Lucy" and she said that this song became HER song...

  • OMG ... this was the first Broadway show I ever saw , Lucy and Keith Andies !

  • This type of song is perfect for the personality of Lucy! You can feel the love that she emanates without even seeing the scene! Everything Lucy ever did puts a smile on my face!

  • I never realized that Lucille Ball was so beautiful. Wow!

  • @scoutniagara

Check out "Dance Girl Dance (1940)".... that broad had some gams!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Absolutely brilliant!!!!!

  • thats lucille ball!!!!!!

  • I just love how Lucy says "I figure whenever you're down and out the only way is up!"

  • Oh ok what year was this???i love her!!!

  • Is this really her singing it??

  • @sillbill94 yes this is her

  • @sillbill94 unbelievable as it is, she could actually sing. When she sang out of tune on I Love Lucy it was forced for comedic purposes.

  • @axltyler Yeah i know lol and when she sang in the long long trailer she wasn't bad. But she insisted she couldn't sing. Lol. But she sounded worse as time progressed because her voice changed so much from smoking and also the high pitched voice she had on I Love Lucy for so long.

  • @sillbill94 , she also killed her voice doing Wildcat. She didn't know the proper singing techniques and consequently did a lot of damage to her vocal chords while in this show. There was a big change in her voice from just before it started in 1961 until it ended some months later.

  • @Beejjjjjj Yes, so I've heard. She still wasn't bad haha.

  • I saw "Wildcat!" on Broadway --- was it 1963? If so, I was 10 years old. My parents and I hung out at the stage door to the street to try to get autographs. I remember her daughter Lucie came out and was a real stuck up snob.

  • she was one of the greats, there will never be another like her

  • Desilu produced Lucille Ball's Broadway Show Wildcat...It was an enormous hit with the fans, and did blockbuster business despite mixed reviews from the Critics. Broadway as did the rest of the world Loved Lucy.

This sensational song was used many times in Desilu series such as The Lucy Show...why not Desilu owned the song.

  • i love lucy !!!!!!

  • That was amazing!! Loved it! It made me feel very happy. She's the best ♥ Thanks for posting.

  • Well, Carlin was actually funny as hell, but that doesn't mean we always have to agree with him.

Forty-plus years ago my high school band used a nice instrumental arrangement of this as a theme (I've no clue why) so I've probably played it about a thousand times.

Yup, I still like it. Go figure.

  • For a different point of view,George Carlin put this song on his 10 worst songs ever list.

  • and from my point of view, george carlin isn't funny at all

  • I agree

  • @rebaismyhero ur a noob... he is one of the kings of comedy.....,

  • @flabbergasm789 Wow that hurt. NOT! Why dont you learn some REAL words. Maybe ones that are actually in the dictionary! This is a video about Lucille Ball, not a damn argument about George Carlin. He can be one of the kings of comedy, but she is a queen of comedy herself. so suck on that u twirp!

  • @rebaismyhero lol its funny you get so worked up about it. you are actually the one to start it so go complain somewhere else.

  • @rebaismyhero Yes. QUEEN of comedy. The best. She may as well be Queen and King, but that doesn't work. So just Queen :)

  • @rebaismyhero you won

  • @flabbergasm789 no he isn't lucy is

  • just read ¨Love Lucy¨bio from lucy herself!!

    thanks for this!

    Now I can hear Lucy!!

  • Desilu funded Wildcat as its sole Broadway production and when Lucy was starring in the show it was a sold out affiar. Btw since Desilu owned Wildcat they used this great song in many a Desilu series. ( Ann Margaret was supposed to do the Lucy role in a Desilu movie but it never got made)

  • I sing this song in voice lessons but I'll never sing it the same way again thanks to Lucille Ball.

  • hey the song is not short I have seen the movie on tv on the old movie channel I think that the channel is called TCM. I only remember seeing it but you got most of the song

  • theres a movie of wildcat?

  • There was never a movie made of WILDCAT. I was looking for it to come out over 40 years ago, and it never happened.

You are confusing this with another movie. That is why they have individual titles. To tell one from the other.

  • I love it!!! Who doesn't love Lucy? =)

  • Lucy did a great job on this job; fits her well :)

  • @mandy618921 your quite right and she always plays someone who cant sing yah right

  • It's nice to be able to hear this. I do remember hearing something about this song long ago, but am too young to have been to the show. Look for videos under my signon for an uptempo version of this song (no sung lyrics).

  • Hey Fightin' Tigers, Fight all the way!!

Hey Fightin' Tigers, win the game today!!

  • I have a vague memory of Lucy doing this scene on probably the Ed Sullivan show sometime in the 60s. And who was the other lady singing with her?

  • The other lady singing with Lucy was her close friend/fellow actress Paula Stewart. Speaking of which, somebody had at one time posted the clip of Lucy & Paula performing the song on "Ed Sullivan" a while ago...I don't know if it's still around on YouTube, but it might be!

  • Desilu financed its first and only Broadway Play, "Wildcat", the revies were so so but Lucy's powerhouse boxoffice wassuch that the Show was hit until Lucy fell ill and closed the show. Since Desilu

owned the Show and also Lucy's "The Lucy Show" Hey Look Me Over is sung at different times. Lucy wanted to film it as a movie starring Ann Margret but by then Desilu was bought out by Paramount

  • This song is so much fun. Talk about a "feel happy" song. It's great!!

Perfect for Lucy. I did love her singing "Breezing Along with a Breeze" in "The Long, Long Trailer". Her voice was soo beautiful in that song especially.

  • is there a soundtrack with this song on it? I have looked on ITUNES and did not find this song so any help in getting the full version of the song would be great.

Lucille may not have been a singer but this song was perfect for her.

  • I'm sorry to have to say this, but there isn't. One a few sountracks for this broadway show were made. Of this song, only ths much i could find and save. I'm am terribly sorry.

  • It's from "WILDCAT"

Look it up under that title.

My parents had the record, but it's gone- darn.

  • There's a CD available to but new on Amazon.

  • You're right on both counts--Lucy was not a good singer (although an excellent dancer), so material where she could more or less talk her way through was great for her.

But this song is a "can't miss," good for a real singer or a talk-singer, such a great melody and spirit to it.

Gosh, I miss Lucy. The world just isn't the same place without her in it (I know, her shows will always be with us, but you know what I mean).

  • By the way, there is video of Lucy singing this live, whether from an actual performance of "Wildcat," or a re-creation of the performance for either a Tony Awards or some TV special.

I think I saw the video on one of those PBS "Lost Broadway" specials. Perhaps someday someone will upload it to Tube?

  • I came very close to meeting Lucy, but at least may say I was in the same room with her (in fact, directly across the aisle from her, in the same row), when she received the Hasty Pudding award from Harvard U. a year or so before her death.

My account of this event is in the comments section for another Tube video, one about Lucy's death. If you hunt around, I'm sure you'll find it.

  • In fact, though I have also been in the presence of two Presidents of the United States (one as a reporter covering a news story), I can honestly say it felt more special to be in Lucy's presence than Ford's or Carter's.

To this day I could kick myself for not having had enough nerve to say hello or ask for an autograph, something. But my gut told me then it just wasn't right to bother Lucy on her special day.

  • such a wonderful song

  • i have the record album

  • i love this song and sing it pretty weel

  • I first heard this on Radio 2 a couple of weeks and thought it's a perfect song to be played at my funeral - how uplifting and the lyric 'a little bit short of the elbow room' is defo coffin made!

  • ATTENTION don't smoke cigarettes it cut her life short only 77 years old, her abdominal aorta split and that's that. So much plaque and cardiovascular all from SMOKING, cigarettes lead to no good, just like alcohol.

  • ummm.....this is quite an interesting comment for this video and for one thing....Lucy's abdominal aorta didn't burst....it was her heart's aorta....it happened after she had a major heart replacment surgery. And yes, smoking is bad, almost my whole family does, and my grandfather, who i love, is now suffering from Emphysema (i'm not sure how to spell it). I've never touched a cigarette (SWEAR IT!). It did cut Lucy's life short and

all of her fans miss her for it!

  • ya. she died of an acute aorta anurism in her HEART. U should get ur facts stright b4 u post :-)

  • Whaaa!? Cut her life short?? She live to 77 for god's sake. Just think...if she hadn't smoked, she might have live to .... maybe 80. How long do you want to live? What a pompous sanctimonious comment. Honestly prigs like you make me want to start smoking again.

  • its on my ipod lol love this song we sang this in 6th grade music hahaha

  • Long live Lucy! There will never be another.

  • coolios we did this in our pro panto last year

  • man... i wish i can download this song... i want it so bad!!! where did you get it... rawr! lol

  • thats such a cute song. i wish u could of put the entire song!! thanks
