From the sounds of it, AIPAC would not have liked Abbie Hoffman. From this clip, it sounds like he considers Zionism to be a form of imperialism. AIPAC would have diagnosed him as a self-hating Jew. Also, his whole approach to anti-Semitism seems quite different. Marx's theories are very intellectual, they represented the intellectual cutting edge on history, politics and economics in the 19th century.

But, they should have stayed ideas and NEVER have been put into practice. I don't blame people in the 1960's who espoused Communist ideas given that the dismal blood soaked experiment which was communism was not fully known until years later.

I do, however, blame modern day communist apologists for still supporting these fatally flawed policies.

There are reasons specific to the era and conditions of countries which attempted communism at the time. Nothing in the Manifesto includes purges, famine, and torture, and most evil communist figures today such as Stalin and Mao were in fact State Capitalists who used the ideology as a justification, not as an actual vehicle for their intents.

I agree. Nothing in the Manifesto directly encourages what you mentioned. Communism is a nice theory but it's political application is fatally flawed. The problem is that people working together is not as productive as people working individually, the failures of socialism in the 20th century prove this. Also people yearn to be free, communism requires the adherence to a strict doctrine, this calls for strict and brutal governance. When people chose individuality these receive prison or death.

If you ask me its the application of the theory of the vanguard party; Lenin did not anticipate having such a centralized representative party becoming overcome with authoritarian policies.
