  • See u r a respected jays fan. I'm a phils fan. I garantie no one else would've made this vid. Ur a generous fan

  • He will always be a Jay to me.

  • I saw him face the Jays a week ago.

    Best game I've ever seen.

  • @DFKlucky1142 I was there for that game too and it was one of the most entertaining ballgames I've seen in a long time. The near fight with the umpires almost made me forget the Blue Jays lost the game.

  • dont worry the phils will take great care of doc

  • the rest of mlb has finally figured something out that Toronto fans have known for some time now. Doc is the best pitcher in the last 10 years. Not santana, not C.C not linceum. not peavy..only roy

  • That luck worked

  • Alot of respect for Canadians, true fans...let's go phils

  • Thank you Toronto for Halladay we are forever gratefull signed Phillies fan #1

  • Most people would be biter to lose a great player ,but Canadians are such nice people....

  • @SuperMrmuse Thanks! But I think any city to be lucky enough to have Roy Halladay pitch for the hometown team for 12 years would feel the same way. I'll just be glad to see him back in July when the Phillies come to Toronto!

  • @SuperMrmuse that's why they light cars on fire when they win a hockey game.

  • Words cannot even begin to describe Roy Halladay. He is just a truly dedicated, talented, humble, and determined human being. And just like someone pointed out before, 0 people disliked this, that is amazing. On the field he is the definition of a fierce competitor, but off the field he is a great team mate. He never ceases to live up to his reputation as the games best pitcher. Thanks for making this video, and Philly will take excellent care of him :)

  • @emilyydx Thanks for the kind words. All those things are true about Doc and more. Consummate professional and a great guy too. Let's hope he gets that World Series ring he's after!

  • Sorry baseball

  • Just imagine if the jays still had that rotation in 2010 maybe the best team in naseball

  • @calryamol i know... halladay, marcum, romero. I think we cuda had a 10+ win differential from last years record and made it into the play offs tht year.

  • Awesome Tribute. Born and raised outside of Philly, I can honestly say that we absolutely love him and were just in amazement every time he took the mound. For those of us that were fans long before the Phillies became a powerhouse, we know what it's like to say good-bye to the face of our franchise, and when they leave like he did, it's never easy. Thank you Toronto.

  • @kjeantet17 Thanks for the comment, and take good care of Doc for us!

  • 0 people dislike thats how much ppl respect him

  • @bluejayfan50 Roy is a monster.Great player.Glad he's here

  • i been watching Mr Halladay pitch since i was in grade 7 and watched him grow as a pitcher right up to now in my college days. Most jays fans including myself would say we were blessed to have drafted such an amazing player but to have had such an amazing person be a part of the organization was a true gift for toronto. Where ever you go Roy, you will be loved by many blue jays fans.

  • all I have to say is thank you canada!

  • He threw a no hitter tonight! We love him in Philly!

  • If he stays healthy, the Phillies will probably dominate the NL East and National League for another 5 years. They will lock the division like the Braves did from 1991-2005, but they have a potential to win a couple of World Series titles.

  • It's only going to get FUNNER!

  • We play you guys next yr in Toronto this time.So Halladay might pitch against you guys

  • @BiggestEaglesFan93 He better so i can see him patch again at the rogers center. Seeing him on tv is fun and all but watching him pitch live is like watching Picasso paint.

  • Roy for Cy Young. That is all.

    P.S. I love this song

  • i hope he will comeback to finish off his career with the jays...that would be awesome, but he still the best pitcher Toronto has ever had.

  • Thank u jays for giving us halladay! i wil always respect the jays for this. Maybe the jays want the phils 2 win so hallaay wins a championship

  • the most depressing thing in the world. we all took him for granted and now hes gone. there isn't a team in the whole league that deserves such talent.

  • Roy Halladay pitched the 20th Perfect Game in MLB History today on May 29th, 2010. So glad he got to play for a contender now in the Philadelphia Phillies :)

  • @ichiro367 So far Halladay is worth EVERY PENNY we've paid for him!!! 7-3 record, 1.99 ERA, 5 CG, 3 SHO, and now a PERFECT GAME---only the 2nd perfect game in our 130 year history and first in 46 yrs! OH YEAH! :-) Convenient it comes on the 21st anniversary of when Phils all-time great Mike Schmidt retired.....

  • and there goes the best pitcher the Toronto Blue Jays will ever have. I still have hope that one day roy halladay will resign with the Jays and end his career where it all began.

  • Really nice video. Gonna miss Roy Halladay, it's really tough to see him go :(

  • Thanks! He will be missed greatly, and I can't wait to see him back in Toronto during that Phillies series in late June. It's going to be a packed house at the Rogers Centre for sure!

  • Welcome To Philly.

  • This video is spine tingling. Roy will definitely be missed. I so hope he makes his return after his Phillie stint. It would complete my life.

  • Thanks for the kind words! He HAS to pitch that series, I can't see him not starting one of those three games.

  • @iunit Hmm, I just checked the Phils schedule and matched it up with our rotation. That 3 game series in Toronto would have Blanton, Happ and Moyer ( pitchers #3, 4 and 5 ) pitching each game, unless there is a rain out or something somewhere, it would be unlikely Halladay would pitch any of the three games, but dunno, unless he requests to pitch one of those games, he'd be going on 4 days rest but stranger things have happened.....

  • @skylarportland I noticed that too ... I'm sure they will re-arrange the rotations to make it somehow that Halladay pitches that series. Last year, it matched up that Halladay and Burnett went one and one, and the crowds flocked to the Rogers Centre.

Drabek will start the season in AA, but the Jays GM said they could call Drabek straight up to the majors at some point this season.

  • @iunit Oh, Drabek will probably be a Sept call-up then and probably f/t in your guys rotation either out of spring 2011 or just shortly after. Granted, he isn't a Halladay yet, but he's a gem himself. Maybe the Phils will see to it that Halladay pitches in Toronto when we get there--that would surely be something to see....

Halladay gets to pitch his first game at CBP this coming Sat against the Marlins. That place is loud as it is, it'll be rocking when Halladay comes out to the mound.

  • @skylarportland Oh, I can imagine! Pencil him in for the Cy Young already - Doc deserves it.

  • @iunit Hey, I heard the Phils re-adjusted their rotation today. Halladay would have been pitching Sat vs. the Marlins but he'll be pitching tomorrow so he can start every 5th day from tomorrow on, so that would mean he would pitch the last game of the series vs the Jays in Toronto.

  • @skylarportland Thanks for the heads up! I will post this news to my blog, I'm sure the fans in Toronto will be very happy to hear about this.

  • @iunit How do the Phillies spell the "perfect" holiday Memorial Day weekend? Roy Halladay! Halladay THREW A PERFECT GAME TONIGHT vs the Marlins! I caught the whole thing on the mlb.tv package I am subscribed to--I am so hyped over it!! :-) Oh, btw, that series vs the Jays next month, I'm sure you know it was switched to Philly because of the G20 summit in Toronto ( MLB wasn't paying attention when they did the schedules ) but Jays will be the home team in Philly LOL should be a great series

  • @skylarportland It was phenomenal, I just happened to be on Twitter around the ninth inning and watched the boxscore on MLB GameDay. Trust me, the Jays fans are very happy for Halladay. It was only a matter of time before he threw a no-no or a perfect game.

Turns out they scheduled the G20 Summit after the MLB sked came out - there was a big fuss about it, just easier to move it to Philly due to security reasons. I just hope Doc doesn't throw a perfect game against the Jays!

  • @iunit LOL, what a mixed feeling for him that would have been if he did that against the Jays. At least Marlins owner showed him respect and gave him the pitching mound rubber from the game. The US VP Joe Biden & mayor of Philly also called to talk to him after the game. The only way the game would been more perfect was if it occurred against the Mets ( our rival ) & for it to occur in Philly. The fans would have went ballistic. It would have been such a scene comparable to '08 world series!!!

  • Can't wait, got baseline seats for his first home start in Philly, that game's gonna be crazy.

  • Our opener in Philly will be such a sell-out that scalpers will easily be getting $100-125 a ticket....if Halladay does as well for us as he did for the Jays he'll know it just from the fan reaction, that stadium will be so loud every inning he's pitching.

  • And I'm now welcoming him to my team.

  • Thanks very much! You guys are getting one hell of a pitcher, I hope he does really well this year and challenges Tim Lincecum for the Cy Young award. Doc deserves another!

  • That'd be cool if he can do that! Just wondering, what is the record for a length of time of a pitcher going in between Cy Young awards? If Doc does win it in 2010, it'll be 7 yrs for him, that might be the longest span for a pitcher---anyone know?

  • Hope he brings the championship back to philly.

  • GO PHILLIES!!

  • dont get all toronto gm always fuck over our teams

  • @f1499 i agree.... JP ricciardi destroyed us... (N) and now this guy has no clue on what hes doing

  • Roy Halladay's numbers are ridiculous considering he's spent his entire career to this point in the AL East. The Yankees and Red Sox have awesome lineups and he made both teams look full of Little Leaguers at times. The Rays and even O's have good lineups too. If he can dominate that division, I feel sorry for the Phillies NL East rivals.

  • @NYYanks2003040506 The quality of hitters that Halladay faced in the AL East will far surpass any hitters he will encounter in the NL East. Luckily, some of the best hitters in the NL are ON his team (Utley, etc).

  • Still seems hard to believe we got him. In the 30 yrs I've been following the Phils as a die-hard fan, through even some almost 100 loss seasons, Halladay is as close as we've gotten to Steve Carlton since Carlton of the late 70's.

Often regarded as "best pitcher in baseball" and "the Phillies" has come up maybe 3 or 4 times in the last 128 yrs.

I agree with iunit's response to yours. If he can stay healthy, as well as the Phils, he should be able to win 23 games, and over 250 k's. :-)

  • 23 wins definitely isn't out of the question for Halladay. What I can't wait to see is him matching up against Johan Santana. Those who enjoy pitcher's duels could be in for a real treat if those two match a few times when the Phillies and Mets face eachother.

  • hey, i sent you a YT message a min ago...cuz our conversation could be quite lengthly :-)

  • Comment removed

  • I hope Phillies fans understand the magnitude of the player you are receiving. Forget on the field where he is a horse, inning eater, battler.

What he does off the field is legendary. The guy is pure class 100%.

You know the saying "If you love something, set it free..." Well Doc, I hate to see you go, but go win 25 and a ring. We love you in TO.

  • @corymazz Well said! He will do very well in the National League, and who knows ... maybe there's a slim chance that he comes back to Toronto after his contract is up in Philly.

  • If your a true Blue Jay fan this video will make you cry.... I miss you Halladay

  • you the man halladay

  • i hope that after 2013 the phils dont offer him a contract and the jays sign him for just one more year i just want him to pitch for the jays for one more year

  • Well, if he is doing anywhere near as well pitching for us, as he did for the Jays, I'd just assume see him finish his career out with us. You guys got him for half his career, let us take the last half :-)

  • nooooo

  • @skylarportland Now now, can't we all just share? :)

  • Thank you for making this video. It says it all. Roy, if you're watching, I look forward to seeing a Jays hat go with you into Cooperstown. Good luck in Philly, I'll be cheering for you. <3

  • @pearlgirl686 It sure would be nice to have a Blue Jay in the Hall of Fame, wouldn't it! Robbie Alomar has the best shot right now, but I think Doc is a lock to get into the HoF.

  • Still can't believe he's gone. He deserves is World Series ring though. Thanks for the memories Doc.

  • So Long Doc!

U Will alwayz Be Missed :(

  • i understand why this all happened but it still hurts. i will miss going to the dome knowing the doc is starting and being amazed time after time by the best arm in baseball.

my retro jays jersey has 32 on the back. i really hope that number always remains his in toronto, even if he is no longer a jay.

best of luck roy. we will truly miss you. hope to see you back here in july. i will be the first to stand up.

  • @416billy I'm sure that the 32 will eventually be retired and etched onto the Level of Excellence - it's only a matter of time.

The best pitcher the franchise has ever had, I my mind.

  • @416billy Oh I'm sure they will eventually retire number 32 in his honour and it will only be a matter of time before the name "Roy Halladay" is on the Level of Excellence at the Rogers Centre.

  • I'm gonna miss him so much.

  • Yeah, like a closer.

Halladay will make Hamels better I think, but like the Jays fans, even though we only had him 1/2 the season, we'll miss Cliff Lee, but as shocked as I was that we *FINALLY* had a reliable starter in Lee, I am still in wonder in how we ended up in the long run, with Halladay.

  • Doc is a lot better than Lee IMO so you'll be better with him. Can't wait until Philly comes to Toronto next time June or July. Doc better get a start.

  • Unfortunately, they just let him (Cliff Lee) go. Don't worry - Cole Hamels will bounce back, it was just an off year for him. And if Pedro comes back, the Phillies will still have one of the best starting rotations in the National League.

  • Yeah, and the words "Phillies" and "one of the best starting rotations" usually don't bode well with each other LOL

Our lineups are always awesome, but our pitching is usually a totally different story....

I know Halladay is great, but I just hope he stays healthy, $20 mill a year is a good chunk of change the next several years....

  • Halladay will be healthy - the only major injuries he's had have been flukes (a couple of line drives to the shin) and once when he had his appendix removed. He trains like a beast and will be healthy for at least the next four years, probably more.

Trust me, he's a bargain at $20 million per year - he deserves $30.

  • Yeah, you could be right there. Well, we'll do our best to at least, get him as many wins we can, and trust me, as long as he keeps the opposition to 3 or 4 runs, he shouldn't have too much a problem winning a lot of games with our offense. :-)

Good video and song though, and good luck to the Jays in 2010.

  • FFFUUUUCCCKKKK I dont even want go to any games this year if theres no Roy Halladay!!!! With that huge mural on the side of the stadium reminding me of him!!!!

  • I wonder what they're going to do with those murals .... now there's Roy Halladay, Alex Rios, Scott Rolen, and B.J. Ryan all gone, yet still on the side of the Rogers Centre.

  • Bye Roy Ill miss you...

finally roy can be on contender and get recognized as the best pitcher in baseball ( he should have had at least 22 or 23 wins this season but he got no run support in quite a few games)

  • Not only that, but he often faced the best teams in baseball (Red Sox, Yankees) more than any of the other Cy Young contenders.

He will enjoy carving up hitters in the National League, and we may as well pencil him in as the Cy Young winner for 2010, 2011 and 2012.

  • and hopefully 2013 and on!

  • i cried a little when i was watching this, good luck roy!!

  • finally we get roy, man i always loved this guy my fav pitcher ever since i started watching baseball welcome to philly this guy will be loved big time

  • yep, and he gets to experience the wrath of our fans if he slumps....

  • Welcome to Philly Halladay! I've always liked Halladay even though I'm a die hard Phillies fan from Philly. He's such a good player and a better person, just like Lee was he doesn't talk shit or brag he just plays the game the way it should be played. Now we are going to get this man a ring!

  • Doc is a total professional and the Phillies are getting one hell of a pitcher. I'm glad he's off to a better team to get a chance to win, because that's what Toronto couldn't offer him.

  • Yep, that was another reason I respected Lee--he just quietly went out and did an awesome job about 80% of the starts he pitched for us the last half of 2009. Lee should be even *better* in Safeco Field since that place is one of the best pitching ballparks in baseball.

  • @PhillyRunsTheShow please do.

  • we'll miss ya
