Hi Rick, what are your settings for the amp during the lead portion? You had a great tone there and although you used a patch from the rp1000 which I don't have, I'd like to try to recreate it with my gear. I have an Orange Rockerverb 50. Thanks!
@Brandon04951 Its been a while but I know I had the gain cranked, the volume up pretty loud, attenuator on like 3, hi's and low's on 10 and the mids around 8.
@rikkbeatty Thanks Rick, I'll mess around with my gear and see what I come up with based around this. I'm planning on picking up a JamMan Looper over Christmas thanks to this review.
@yawnac97 Thank you! I am however no longer the DigiTech clinician and now work for Ampeg as their full time guitar clinician for the new Ampeg GVT guitar amplifiers. The best way to do a seamless loop is to use the quantize function. That way if you end it too late, it will fix the timing for you automatically.
@aztecalo In order to turn the pedal's power off, you have to unplug the power supply. If you just want to stop playback on the pedal, click the pedal two times quickly.
@petrochemicals4u It works if you use the AUX In for the second guitar, but you need a converter from large (1/4") jack to small (1/8") jack, and I would recommend that the amp for output to be clean (use distortin pedals before going into the JamMan).
I think the best result would be if the second guitar goes into a processor and then into the aux in, since on most processors you can control the overall sound level, etc, so you can match the volumes between the two guitars.
I purchased the Jamman solo but found it extremely difficult to master. The auto-quantize feature does not wok very well and it is really hard to count off beats to get started. The overdub seems to have a mind of its own. The worst part is that the pedal really colored my tone, to the point where I didn't even recognize my guitar on the recorded track.
@wajang1000 The pedal is not true bypass. The best place for this pedal is in the FX Return of the amplifier. That way you can loop a clean tone, change to distortion, and have the clean tone unaffected.
@StanO224 Presets 1 - 10 have some pre-recorded drum and bass beats. The metronome gives you 9 or 10 different drum sounds but they are just stick clicks or one hits. You can throw all your favorite drum beats in there though from a drum machine or a loop software program (like ACID...). With all that memory and all those presets, you can put all your favorite drum beats to jam to on there instead of having to settle for "canned beats" like some of the other companies put on their loopers.
Rikk, my questions is if based on the me using my tube amp for my gain. If I run the Digitech Solo in the effects loop will I be able to loop a clean sounds and then add gain on top of that or am I committed to clean on clean and gain on gain only loops.
If you put the Loop in your FX Return you can do whatever you like. If you loop a clean layer you can change to distortion and still retain the clean layer. I have mine in between my RP1000's out and my amp's FX Return.
Rikk, quick question...let's say you have a loop ready to save, and it's saved. If I wanted to add another layer or so later on. Can that be done, or once it's saved, you can't add any more layers after that?
@rodwyr No problem. You can add layers on whenever you want. And unless you hit the store button it will always keep your original loop in tact. So say you make a really cool rhythmic loop and want to use it at each show but don't want to try and recreate it. You can keep it in tact but still add layers to it. Then when you are done, just move to another lesser without saving and when you go back your original loop will still be there.
Cool man! Appreciate the quick response! Hope to get this under the Christmas tree this year. The features and the storage space thus far have sold me on it. Thanks again!
I love the paint job on your RP1000 and was just wondering where you got it done. Also, What kind of pedal board is that, it looks to be a Pedal Train PT-2 but I'm not sure.
@BigERV1296 I got the paintjob done here in Lacey, WA from a buddy of mine. He charges $75.00 plus shipping to do it. He is moving right now though so he is not taking any current projects but once he gets settled in he will do it. I can give you his number if you like. The pedal board is a Pedal Train. Its the largest one they make. I think it is the PT-2.
JamMan Solo: 99 presets, 35 minutes of internal memory expandable to 16 hours of memory and 198 presets. Infinite layered loops at 10 minutes per each layer. Records in 44.1 CD quality WAV files.
Boss RC-2: 11 presets, 16 minutes of internal memory CAN'T BE EXPANDED. Records in MP3 quality files.
Boomerang: I looked up the Boomerang III and it says: 11 presets, 8 minutes 46 seconds of mono recording time at 48kHz CANT BE EXPANDED, 3 layers per each loop.
Ha! People actually read these things. Ive had the Boss pedal. Think I'll head down to the store and try one of these. It looks like fun. Again your demos are to the point and informative. Thanks.
@resoblues I try to keep up with them. Sometimes I fall behind though due to all the travel and everything. I am glad you will be checking one out. I know you will love it!!! I finally have a JamMan Stereo and got to demo the JamMan Delay at Summer NAMM this past week. The JamMan delay is AWESOME!!!!!
@resoblues lol Thank you! Its not to say it cant be used for metal but all the demos I had heard on it seemed to all be pretty "in your face" kinda stuff. So I thought I would do something a little different. :-)
Absolutely. Using the JamManager software makes it very easy. It will bring up all the loops you have created on the pedal that are either stored to the pedal or the memory card, then you can edit the loops inside the software (time signature, metronome sounds, tempo) and store them to your computer. You can also create play lists from the library you create in the JamManager software! Its all done via USB cable.
@skipcycle Thats weird... The software I have on my Windows XP computer was downloaded from the DigiTech site and I have no problems with it. What issues are you having?
@skipcycle Man I am sorry you are having this issue. I run Windows XP on my PC and it loads just fine. I have found with PC's though that each one seems to react differently depending on what other software and hardware you have on the computer. I started using a MAC a couple years ago for recording and video editing and I am still amazed at how I have never had problems with it on any program I have installed. I wish my PC was like that though! I am sure DigiTech will get it fixed though.
now i know why you were so secretive man!!! great pedal i purchased one and now want to get the bigger one....by the way i threw my Boomerang out in the trash!!
Can I sync it with a monotribe?

Hey Rick,
Would you consider doing a video on how to make a seamless loop? It is not as easy as you make it look on these videos. Thanks.
Digitech is lucky to have you.

1. Is this pedal true bypass?
2. Where is the better place for this pedal - before the amp or in the effects loop?
3. Where should this pedal be placed in the chain?

Does the Jamman Solo have any drum presets programed into the pedal or can I access drum beats on the software?
