@darkiscoolz Not if you use that little money trick. Once I cap at about 20, I use that before the last few battles and pump myself up to level 23, 24, and let the Darkspawn siege bump me up to 25.

I don't think a lot of the extra dialogue options in the game are too grave, say for giggles and what not, at least that's how it seems for me anyways. I'd probably allocate the skills from coercion to either poison or perhaps even nature. Poison to bombard enemies with, well poisons and such, and to sheathe your weapon with effects, seems to suit an AW a bit better.
@Hypermantrasoul The great thing about coercion is it can get you out of conflicts and also allow you for example to ask people for stuff, such as with Sten in lothering...You can persuade the Great mother you need him.
This mage is pretty crappy, but so was my first mage. On my last play-through, I decided to use an Arcane Warrior as my tank, and not even the Harvester on nightmare was a match for her. She was an Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage, and I used enchanted items to boost her health to over 500. With Haste active, she did over 100 damage per strike with Spellweaver. In Awakening, I made her a Keeper as well. With all of her buffs active, she was nigh indestructible. I also play on the Xbox, by the way.

Where do you get Spellweaver? I found it on my normal Warrior. But when I went to find it on my mage, I couldn't find it anywhere!! I've either forgotten or I'm just that unlucky.
okay anyone getting awakening soon, when you finish the first quest after you save Vigil's Keep and kill the boss and after the Ritual with the recruit's, head straight to master Wade (yes he supplies you with armor and great ones in fact) and buy a "Tome Of Focus" which lets you re assign all your Attribute points, Skill Points, and abilities. For Mages get the battle Mage and Keeper Specializations and become Blood Mages. Arcane Warriors aren't that helpful in awakening. and you'll need'em
I hope someone can answer this, but i know that magic takes over strength when it comes to armor requirements and weapons, etc. But does magic take over strength completely, such as how hard you hit and so. Really appreciate an answer.
@YangBalanceYin No it does not completely take over strength, don't listen to YangBalanceYin, it does not contribute to your hit rate as strength would for normal melee classes so unless you invest points in dexterity you'll find yourself missing often. Other than that it is the same.
I would personally find the Nug Crusher in the Ostgar DLC and go for a full sustained build. sustains your missing for example are rock armor, miasma, telekenetic weapons, and optional sustains can be flaming/frost weapons or spell shield and cleansing aura to be helpful besides being a uber tank.
sadly I lost me spellweaver (I might have dropped it on accident) but I'm level 21 and have a good 8 sustains on and am using the 2 handed version of Starfang (accessible through Wardens Keep DLC and finding the fragment of Starmetal while on your travels (give it to Levi's weaponsmith cousin and he'll make a 2 handed or 1 handed version for you).
@aartbastiaan22 Unequipe spellweaver before leaving with Arnora later on as a bug will remove it from your inventory and you can't get it back. Another good combo would be arcane/blood/spirit healer triad, within awakening, also have mana clash, and both fire/ice with oven mittens (30% resistance/damge bonuses). Destruction served with pain and healing, order now and make battle a breeze. Enjoy the tip.
Advice on doing AoE spells go for mass paralysis first, blood magic and blizzard then chain lightning, though I do have a team of Mage, Morrigan, Wyanne and Shale (with max aura effect) and magic blossom.
the armours you have suck, go for all out mana regen then you can keep on a constant shimmering shield and the armour and defence on equipment wont even matter
i got all the elemental abilities with my arcane warrior, now i just cover the screen in blizzard earthquake firestorm and thunderstorm and the entire screen just shits on all my enemies

Why does just about everyone make a arcane warrior with Massive armor? I know they provied much defense but they also nerf the amount of speel you can use in succession. if you ask me you should at lest use the Effort armor set or Warden comander or CAlian sets if you have the DLC their in other wise stick to light to med armor such as the wade sets and Antcint elven set or even the Dilligence set .
@evok0999 in the brasilian forest, during the quest to recruit the elves as you allies against the blight, you will find a vial, inside the ruins where the warewofls hide, if you "speak" with it and chose the correct options in the dialogue it will teach you this specialisation. There are a few videos of it, search them for more info.
@rossc4 Well you will get another point to put into a specialisation @ levels 14 and 22 (22 only if you have awakening installed) If you are playing on the PC there are also mods that allow you to respec.
this game was made on the pc and then made for the consoles, so yeah the comute would be better. however dragonage 2 will be made for each individual console so it will look good on either
@liberator48 fable and dragon age origins are two very different games. one big one is that there is no challenge in fable. no much choice. and te third installment was a let down

Spellpower + Blizzard + The storm thingy = A ligit spell called The Perfect Storm. Try it out, that looks damn impressive. but be sure to stand far away cause itll kill you in 2 sec or so.

@haloguy2323 It drops from Cultist Overseer in the north-eastern side of the Mountainside Caverns in the Ruined Temple, during the quest line for the Urn of Sacred Ashes.
@haloguy2323 at the point where you fight a mage and a few stealthed assasins, if ou keep going straight, up the hill towards where the mage was, you'll eventually meet the guy

#1 English spelling isn't that hard ... "wut" versus "what", 1 makes you look like and idiot and the other is not any harder to write.
#2 "Best armor u can possibly get" is hardly true. If I want to go for hardcore resistance, I get 1 kind of armor, if I want to get a armor with X stat, I get that one. It's all about how you customize your character.

@shadow200569 And to end my rant, How on earth is Blood Magic not close combat? Have you even seen the spells you get as a blood magic ... 2 of them got nothing to do with combat itself, 1 is a CC and the other is an aoe damage/CC ability. None of thoose is "ranged only". BM/AW is a good combination to keep aggro on lots of mobs.

Can someone give me some advice for being an Arcane Warrior? I think I really screwed my character over (I mean being an Arcane Warrior is new to me and I'm always ALOT better being just a flat out Mage). So far my Strength is 22, Dexterity is 15, Willpower is 17, Magic is 31, Cunning is 12 and Constitution is 23. I am currently level 11 with only Affliction Hex, Virulent Walking Bomb, Spell Wisp, Fireball, and Combat Magic as my main spells/talents. No trash talk please thanks.
@indoom666 Oh really? So that's what I was doing wrong because, everytime I'd go into combat my main character would fall during every battle. I mean I had it on Nightmare so I changed it to Casual and he still failed. But thank you for the video but I'm working on my Templar character at the moment and he's buffed out.
Arcane warriors work best when you pump points into magic (which boosts damage) and stack a lot of sustainable abilities such as Miasma, Rock Armor, Arcane shield, Shimmering shield, tele weapons etc. Blood mage is a good second spec because Blood Wound freezes and hurts mobs and draws aggro. Blood magic also lets you tap into your health to fuel spells (which is a big plus for an AW due to all the sustainables reducing your mana.
Very bad build... Don't take this the wrong way. Arcane warriors go for sustainable spells. You have way to many spells in primal! And no drain life , mind blast either!?
Those two are a must for any mage build especially the latter.
@Teiji89 Mind Blast is not good at all for a tanking arcane warrior since it resets threat, and the one thing you don't want is to lose whatever you're fighting to go and kill your companions.
@Flam3ProductionS i can help clarify what Teiji89 was saying. during the urn of ashes quest, in which you unlock 2 new areas to visit, there will be a portion in the game where you have to fight two cultist assassins at a crossroad. kill them, then continue FORWARD, not to the left. there will be a few cultists, a drake, and leader that aparently can block spells. kill him, and you can take the spellweaver from him, which boosts your arcane warrior farily well. its a arcane warrior only weapon.
Hey guys, i've got a hint for you....do you know that you can wear armor with your mage and still have 2 specializations other than arcane warrior?
As you know, you only need to put 1 skill pt in combat magic to be enable to wear an armor but it's not necessary that you active them...
So, when you reach level 7, choose arcane warrior sp, distribute 2 of your attribute pts and auto-level your player! The game will use the spells pts in combat magic and you will still get your sp points.
if anyone was wondering, if you wanna make allistair a tank, pump points into his dex and i promise you, you will have a full fledged tank on yer hands
i cant help but wonder why didnt you wear a complete set to lower your fatigue. also i just want to add that once your warden unlocks arcane warrior - all your other mages (waynee and morrigan) can become arcane warriors too. i found it funny that my entire team but my rouge (the spanish elf) wear heavy armor, and their armor is above 25.
15% fatigue if you give them a full set so.. its well worth it.
@dogacan88 You get it in the wardens keep dlc, if you drink from a vial. Hardly ever use those skills as they usually damage your health. Exept one of those the rouges get, a passive skill to help defence.

@Xenogamer777 because its not blood magic or blood mage you get those powers when you drink this glass vial in a DLC wich im not sure but you get two spells (or skills dempending on wich class you are) that are realated to blood magic but they have nothing to actually do with the blood mage specialization as its not actually blood magic as the man in the DLC said.
lets see you should have gotten Miasma, Sleep, Crushing Prison, Cleansing aura, Rock armor, Cone of cold, glyph of repulsion and warding, spell wisp, drain life and if your group is mostly melee death hex
lose inferno, all the lightning spells, rejuvenation, drain mana, walking bomb
since arcane warriors depend mostly on auto attack, hardly cast since all the sustained spells they have active take up all there mana and its better to use a shield since having an offhand needs some good dex
1 dude spellweaver only uses up your main hand give your mage a dagger or shield but I would personally give it The Rose's Thorn
2 buy yourself The Spellward as your amulet
3 forget the Juggernaut armor because it is worthless when you have Shimmering Shield activated and dont worry about it draining your mana because The Spellward would cancel that so get yourself another set of armor. Shimmering Shield grants you all types of resistance by 75% dont try adding more because 75% is the maximum
Your mage build is okay, but its lacking in terms of aggro spells. Cone of Cold is a crucial tanking spell. You can skip inferno, since its a situational spell and isn't useful for a tank on difficulties in which you incur friendly fire damage. Force field also a useful spell for an AW tank, since you can make yourself temporarily invincible in a tight spot.
@SteelFyire pretty much every fight has archers or mages... any kind of "behind the flesh wall" enemy, which makes inferno very viable, adding tempest means they can't use scattershot etc. personally i like to cast earthquake first, then tempest/inferno to ensure they won't run away, and often i can nuke the entire group, melee and ranged before they get to me. so nah, not situational. Storm of the century however, kind of is.. can only be cast at max range, then you have to leg it.
That was pretty much my build too. An Arcane Mage. But i had some differences. I had Mana Clash, all the hexes, Inferno, Lighting Chain, Blizzard, with the Arcane branch filled. Also, the healer i had to group heal. So, i was able to do some powerful shit to people XD it's actually a powerful build. He had the Warden Commander Armor set on with Bergans Honor. His swords were switched from The Ageless, to Yusrus.
@72metallicafan The heavier you´re armor is the more mana will be lost when casting spells. That´s why most arcane warrior´s fucos on substained abilitys so they can take more hits but still the want some AoE´s
hmm i want to try a unique build arcane warrior+blood mage but im a using spells from afar cuz i hate getting hit and im soo squishy...btw is there a talent that absorbs mana when i get hit instead of health??
@Zethor1000 Yes it's shimmering shield. It absorbs most of dmg and 'eats' your mana. Btw you have to pay it with your mana even when power of blood is activated so notice that it's really cool =).
@BananaPowerr I think that's from a DLC (the one with Soldier's Peak) - before confronting the scientist/researcher guy you can read a drink a flask in the room outside, which gives you those two abilities. Mind you they aren't that great, you suffer HP loss during their use, for attack bonuses etc.

Arcane Warrior/Battlmage (Awakening) is also a good build. Elemental Mastery+Spell might+Tempest+Blizzard = Auto-Win
And if by some miracle they are still alive, hit all your AW buffs and cut down anything that's left.

@evok0999 in the brasilian forest, during the quest to recruit the elves as you allies against the blight, you will find a vial, inside the ruins where the warewofls hide, if you "speak" with it and chose the correct options in the dialogue it will teach you this specialisation. There are a few videos of it, search them for more info.

@rossc4 Well you will get another point to put into a specialisation @ levels 14 and 22 (22 only if you have awakening installed) If you are playing on the PC there are also mods that allow you to respec.

@cooliosmyname if you still want to know if i remember rightly you get the body in the elf ruins behind that door in the room with the pool and alter after performing the ritual the rest of the pieces are for killing the revenants in the forest and you make them apear by using the tombstones you find around the place

#1 English spelling isn't that hard ... "wut" versus "what", 1 makes you look like and idiot and the other is not any harder to write.
#2 "Best armor u can possibly get" is hardly true. If I want to go for hardcore resistance, I get 1 kind of armor, if I want to get a armor with X stat, I get that one. It's all about how you customize your character.

@shadow200569 And to end my rant, How on earth is Blood Magic not close combat? Have you even seen the spells you get as a blood magic ... 2 of them got nothing to do with combat itself, 1 is a CC and the other is an aoe damage/CC ability. None of thoose is "ranged only". BM/AW is a good combination to keep aggro on lots of mobs.

"u" and "wut" is a few examples. Otherwise it is fine. Some people doesn't know enough english to actually spell good enough, like me, but it is far better than going lazy and " tlk awezum language cuz i m lazy lol".

Can someone give me some advice for being an Arcane Warrior? I think I really screwed my character over (I mean being an Arcane Warrior is new to me and I'm always ALOT better being just a flat out Mage). So far my Strength is 22, Dexterity is 15, Willpower is 17, Magic is 31, Cunning is 12 and Constitution is 23. I am currently level 11 with only Affliction Hex, Virulent Walking Bomb, Spell Wisp, Fireball, and Combat Magic as my main spells/talents. No trash talk please thanks.

@indoom666 Oh really? So that's what I was doing wrong because, everytime I'd go into combat my main character would fall during every battle. I mean I had it on Nightmare so I changed it to Casual and he still failed. But thank you for the video but I'm working on my Templar character at the moment and he's buffed out.

Arcane warriors work best when you pump points into magic (which boosts damage) and stack a lot of sustainable abilities such as Miasma, Rock Armor, Arcane shield, Shimmering shield, tele weapons etc. Blood mage is a good second spec because Blood Wound freezes and hurts mobs and draws aggro. Blood magic also lets you tap into your health to fuel spells (which is a big plus for an AW due to all the sustainables reducing your mana.

Very bad build... Don't take this the wrong way. Arcane warriors go for sustainable spells. You have way to many spells in primal! And no drain life , mind blast either!?
Those two are a must for any mage build especially the latter.

@Teiji89 Mind Blast is not good at all for a tanking arcane warrior since it resets threat, and the one thing you don't want is to lose whatever you're fighting to go and kill your companions.

@Flam3ProductionS i can help clarify what Teiji89 was saying. during the urn of ashes quest, in which you unlock 2 new areas to visit, there will be a portion in the game where you have to fight two cultist assassins at a crossroad. kill them, then continue FORWARD, not to the left. there will be a few cultists, a drake, and leader that aparently can block spells. kill him, and you can take the spellweaver from him, which boosts your arcane warrior farily well. its a arcane warrior only weapon.

Hey guys, i've got a hint for you....do you know that you can wear armor with your mage and still have 2 specializations other than arcane warrior?
As you know, you only need to put 1 skill pt in combat magic to be enable to wear an armor but it's not necessary that you active them...
So, when you reach level 7, choose arcane warrior sp, distribute 2 of your attribute pts and auto-level your player! The game will use the spells pts in combat magic and you will still get your sp points.

i cant help but wonder why didnt you wear a complete set to lower your fatigue. also i just want to add that once your warden unlocks arcane warrior - all your other mages (waynee and morrigan) can become arcane warriors too. i found it funny that my entire team but my rouge (the spanish elf) wear heavy armor, and their armor is above 25.
15% fatigue if you give them a full set so.. its well worth it.

@dogacan88 You get it in the wardens keep dlc, if you drink from a vial. Hardly ever use those skills as they usually damage your health. Exept one of those the rouges get, a passive skill to help defence.

@Xenogamer777 because its not blood magic or blood mage you get those powers when you drink this glass vial in a DLC wich im not sure but you get two spells (or skills dempending on wich class you are) that are realated to blood magic but they have nothing to actually do with the blood mage specialization as its not actually blood magic as the man in the DLC said.

lets see you should have gotten Miasma, Sleep, Crushing Prison, Cleansing aura, Rock armor, Cone of cold, glyph of repulsion and warding, spell wisp, drain life and if your group is mostly melee death hex
lose inferno, all the lightning spells, rejuvenation, drain mana, walking bomb
since arcane warriors depend mostly on auto attack, hardly cast since all the sustained spells they have active take up all there mana and its better to use a shield since having an offhand needs some good dex

1 dude spellweaver only uses up your main hand give your mage a dagger or shield but I would personally give it The Rose's Thorn
2 buy yourself The Spellward as your amulet
3 forget the Juggernaut armor because it is worthless when you have Shimmering Shield activated and dont worry about it draining your mana because The Spellward would cancel that so get yourself another set of armor. Shimmering Shield grants you all types of resistance by 75% dont try adding more because 75% is the maximum

Your mage build is okay, but its lacking in terms of aggro spells. Cone of Cold is a crucial tanking spell. You can skip inferno, since its a situational spell and isn't useful for a tank on difficulties in which you incur friendly fire damage. Force field also a useful spell for an AW tank, since you can make yourself temporarily invincible in a tight spot.

@SteelFyire pretty much every fight has archers or mages... any kind of "behind the flesh wall" enemy, which makes inferno very viable, adding tempest means they can't use scattershot etc. personally i like to cast earthquake first, then tempest/inferno to ensure they won't run away, and often i can nuke the entire group, melee and ranged before they get to me. so nah, not situational. Storm of the century however, kind of is.. can only be cast at max range, then you have to leg it.

That was pretty much my build too. An Arcane Mage. But i had some differences. I had Mana Clash, all the hexes, Inferno, Lighting Chain, Blizzard, with the Arcane branch filled. Also, the healer i had to group heal. So, i was able to do some powerful shit to people XD it's actually a powerful build. He had the Warden Commander Armor set on with Bergans Honor. His swords were switched from The Ageless, to Yusrus.

@Zethor1000 Yes it's shimmering shield. It absorbs most of dmg and 'eats' your mana. Btw you have to pay it with your mana even when power of blood is activated so notice that it's really cool =).

@BananaPowerr I think that's from a DLC (the one with Soldier's Peak) - before confronting the scientist/researcher guy you can read a drink a flask in the room outside, which gives you those two abilities. Mind you they aren't that great, you suffer HP loss during their use, for attack bonuses etc.
