  • Can anyone tell me where this is and good vid

  • GREAT VIDEO. BUT ANYWAY WHY HAS THE TOWN NOT INVESTED PUTTING RAILROAD CROSSING GATES. THAT'S THE WAY ONLY THOSE CRAZY DRIVERS WILL UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!!

  • If you look at GoogleEarth image dated 10/5/2010 that train is so long it almost blocks the whole downtown core!! I love your vids

  • The RS3L will forever be in the top 3 best horns.

  • a conrail horn

  • Ya know, RS-3L are what WAYSIDE horns are supposed to sound like.

  • well done my friend ...that leslie sounds so good....its still sounding in my dreams.....reminds me of the old mexican super 7's most of the 239(including the virtually dash 8's,the super7MP) had a leslie or a prime 920 on'em..no nathans for them well maybe a few P124(P3's on the pacifico)

  • Since it's Norfolk Southern's mainline, then it also once belonged to Southern Railway. I wonder how people feel about going down the street seeing the train come? Also, I wonder how many of them aren't supporting a quiet zone?

  • Great vid. I like to see street running. We had street running here up until about 15 years ago but they were only local freight switching and only three times a week but years ago it was the main line. We'd always wait and watch to see if some rich blue haired woman's Cadillac was going to become a new hood ornament for the locomotive.

  • Is it possible in the U.S.A. that a train runs on a street where cars run too and people normally walk ??? Does anyone explain to me ?

In Italy this is strictly forbidden by law ( Only safe crossroads are admitted ).

By the way, nice video. I love trains and I work with them.

  • Man those drivers are like... What....HUH?... How can... OK!

  • Aha, it's Georgia, USA, not Maine, not Michigan.

  • EXCELENTE VIDEO ME GUSTO ESE HORN

  • @ferromex100 QUE CHINGON PITA ESA MAQUINA, SALUDOS FERROMEX OSCAR TOVAR JNR.

  • Is there a store near where they stopped? I bet they stopped for snacks. I have a CSX line right behind my house and they always stop for food at the store near me.

  • Very Nice vid!! I even checked Google Maps:p

We don't have that kind of stuff here in The Netherlands!!

  • NICE !

  • l do like the paint job...

  • why did the train stop at 5:02

  • OK this is just freaky. Is this thing going on regular in USA cities, or it's just ocasional?

  • I saw 2698 while i was on Silverstar in Raleigh NC going to florida

  • Great video. I love those trains. My Mother grew up in Trenton, SC. We will look for the trains when we get back up there.

  • Great Video. I've gotta get down there one day.

  • LOL 4:48

  • Are some of NS Locomotives from Southern?

  • WOW, right through the middle of the town. I wish we had layouts like that here in Kingston.

At one time we used to have rails all throughout the city but long gone are those days.

  • Astonishing. Very nice video. Thank you et bravo. 5*

  • A spectacular sight to see a freight train rolling through town.. Awesome catch!!!

  • Well there you go. I didn't think anywhere else was insane enough to do this sort of thing.

The same thing happens in Rockhampton, QLD, Australia. All trains north and south (its the main line, not a seldom used branch line) roll up and down Rockhampton's streets.

  • Great video, i love the horn---the engineer plays it just right---i guess the only thing that bothers me about this, is the pausing for photos right in the middle of filming......

  • PLEASE EVERYONE UNDERSTAND THIS!!! I DO NOT focus mainly on videoing trains...MY MAIN FOCUS IS PHOTOGRAPHY!!! That is why the video stops in the middle...IT'S ALL OR NOTHING!!!

  • @rsideballa75 Dont worry about them mate I appreciate your posts up here.

  • @rsideballa75 If only you knew he was going to stop, that would have been a better time for still photos. Oh well, great video anyway.

  • NS (and N&W before that) used to do street running in my hometown of Erie, PA. Always a little hairy to see long freights going right down the middle of a residential street, even if they went about 10mph.

  • It looks like the brakes were applied for an intersection that only had stop signs. I'm sure someone pulled out in front of him. It's not like anyone would ever do such a thing.

  • @vettebecker: It was so the crew in the yard could arm the EOT device to the End of The Train.

  • @rsideballa75 It just looked like they were perfect for the intersection. Thanks

  • Nice. We have street running where I live , but it's only a branch line servicing a couple plants witha few cars. This looks like a Main Branch.

  • Cool, Yes this is a Main Line, Norfolk Southern's R Line. Only sees 6 trains a day not including extras.

  • Nice, I was just there today, but I wasn't able to get anything coming through on the NS line, just CSX. When does NS usually run trains over the river there?

  • Nice video!!!

  • Awesome video. Love to see these street runners. Thanks for posting.

  • nice horn

  • Awesome video 5*

  • One of thoes cross-sreets has SO MANY Hwys in one road (Broad St)! like U.S.hwy 1 & 25 for starters. :-)

  • I love the vid!!!:) Isn't it stupid to put tracks down threw that area!!!,That is just asking for trouble!!!

  • nice vid

  • AWESOME HORN ACTION great video keep up the good work and great videos coming 5/5

  • Those 2 locomotives look great!!!!!!!

  • How quick can they travel on the street?

  • 10mph

  • AWSOME FUCKING HORN!!!!!!!!

  • What a beautiful 8-40C and SD70M-2. Great video.

  • There is no crash, thankfully. The point of the video is to share a video of 156 with Ant's favorite M-2 going through the streets.

If you think trains are all about crashes, then something is seriously wrong. This is a hobby that is almost better than any other. As NS Winston-Salem District conductor, Johnny H. McClaine says "don't fuck with danger".

  • Agreed. People too often think that crashes are everything. Whats so cool about seeing somebody's car get destroyed, and maybe even the driver? It's a devastating event, for the driver and the engineer and conductor. Fuck off, crash lovers.

  • I feel sorry for the residents

  • There really isn't much residents along the streets. There is one, but he is a douchebag and can go jump off a cliff. I really wouldn't feel sorry for them, the tracks were there first.

  • The perfect RS3L?

  • Awesome video, thanks for sharing!

  • where was this?

  • Ummmmm Hello? It says AUGUSTA, GEORGIA 1 second into the video. I thought Bath was very low on the totem pole.

  • well sorry i was distracded by my stupid younger brother and i missed it

  • Nice job. Did the emergency brakes kick on, or did an idiot almost get run over?

  • No the emergency brakes were not applied...the crew had to get an EOT (FRED) device.

  • Thanks

  • greatest c40-8 i've ever seen. great video.

  • There is something you don't see every day. a train going up a street. Does the locomotiva have a licence plate.

  • id like to see him run about 45-50mph though there .... lol

  • No you don't. Spend a couple of days here and watch it street running, you will change your mind quick.

  • I bet the people who live in town would like them to move the tracks !

  • I don't care if the camera was stuck in your *&%#...it's still an awsome vid!

  • BEAUTIFUL SD70ACE!

  • That's not a SD70Ace...Its a Dash 8-40c

  • If you're talkin' about the 2nd unit it...thats a SD70M-2 not ACe

  • THAT IS THE BEST NS HORN IVE EVUR HEARD

  • It would have been better if it was a K5LA or a K5LLA! :D

  • NS 8310 has the most beautiful RS3L I have EVER heard in my life. Just so you know people, when this unit was in Conrail paint, it had a Nathan P3 on it. Then the people at NS listened and they put a RS3L on it. Love this video. I shedded 3 tears while watching.

    --Lewis

  • Nice I caught him here not too long ago! NS 8310!

  • Wow. Great vid. And man, I know the trains are running slow and people are probably used to this...but the amount of people just driving/wandering across the tracks right in front of the locomotive still amazes me.

  • Great video!

  • OMG! both my fav engine sin one lineup, GE Dash 8-40c and the EMD SD70ACe/M-2 !!! :)

  • hey great video man. You are in my group on yahoo. Great posting today. I've been personally to that spot where part 3 starts. Great place to film and get photos.

  • NS runs just passed the tree line behind my house everyday here in new Bern NC.....and I also love the horns.....what town and state are you in ??

  • Ant is in Augusta, Georgia along with me, SK.

New Bern eh? I am sure three-fity comes by, that train just seems super to me for some reason.

  • C40-8 rules! :)

  • The reson wye the train stop? whas there a car on the tracks? did the enginear git a call from the dispatcher? for me to find the reson wye the train stop I need to know how long the train stop for.

  • The reason why the train stopped is probably the EOT or had to pick up a lot of cars in Augusta before heading to Cola or Linwood. Another reason was the dispatcher called him.

Why do you need to know how long the train stopped for?

  • An interesting video - only a disruptive voice at approximately the same volume as the horn exlaiming "Picture Time" and a freeze frame completely destroy the watching of an otherwise unusual aspect of railroading. (Part 2)

  • I'm sorry you didn't like my sense of humor with the nerdy "picture time" quote. NOTE TO EVERYONE: I don't sound like a nerd in person! And I believe you would be the only one to think that I "destroyed" my video by doing that! (Part2)

  • Good video. But if you put the movie camera

on a tripod, you wouldn't have to stop at the most interesting point to take still pictures.

  • that's the point...its not a movie camera aka video camcorder...its a digital camera that I use mainly for photography...and it is on a tripod! :D

  • Enjoyed this one, too!

  • Nicely done, Ant! FYI, that horn is probably the original it came with when delivered to Conrail, a Leslie RSL-3L-R. It still sounds great, which is pretty unusual for ex-Conrail horns.

  • Great Video, How many trains run on this part of the line per day? This reminds me of the street running we use to have in Erie, PA before it was relocated.

  • 4 trains guarenteed a day, NS 191/192 & NS 155/156...Also some coal trains come through and a local that runs to Hamburg, SC to the TTX car repair shop...that's about it!

  • Wow!! I got #8310 back in Febuary while it was still in CR Blue, it is a shame that repainted it, I got it while it was still in blue.

  • Yea I guess catching it in Blue would've been cool too, but that new fresh scheme on it now is too AWESOME!
